I agree it'd be nice if D3 could be creepy but I don't think it's possible, not even if they made every inch of the game covered with dead bodies, blood and bones.
We've just gotten too old to be scared that easy.

At least half of the threads in these forums are people basically getting at, "I don't like D3 because it's not exactly like D2 in every way." If you don't like what you see, stick to D2, because some of us waited these eight long years for a new game. Not an old game with new graphics.
i told you this thread was going to be the same history, now we got another thread discussing the same thing, YAYZOR

my english may not be as good as yours, but im sure that my portuguese is... http://xinube.mybrute.com/
Whether or not a game can scare you depends on how you approach it. If you are like "this is not going to scare me" it will probably not scare you. It's just a video game. If you turn the lights off, put on headphones, and try to immerse yourself in the world of Diablo or whatever game it would work very well indeed, even if you are 18+.
No the majority are saying it was scary back in 2000 when they first played it. Play Diablo now and honestly tell me it's scary or eerie. It's scary the first time, possibly the second time, after that no one cares anymore.

Nothing is Scary after you get USED to it, it's nothing to do with age, but How many times you seen it you got used to it.
Everything is like that, including the scariest movies made - The Ring, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Exorcist, etc
Hell, I got scared shitless playing some Resident Evil/Silent Hill (More scarier than Diablo 1 ever was) first couple times, but played it 10+ times, not as scary any more. Cuz you expect it.
It's the things that you don't expect, really scares you!

I think Diablo 3 looks great overall, and even if it were released in it's current direction it will be a great game. I would argue that much of the negativity here is too strong.
However, threads like this annoy me more. What is the point of this thread? At least the critics of Diablo 3 are defending what they like and enjoy. This thread simply piles negativity on top of negativity for no good reason. It's absurd.
Why attack someone because they love something? Why attack someone because they want to see Diablo 3 be everything they would hope for? Because 4chan teaches you to be a little fucker who gets his jollies mocking people?
There is nothing wrong with fighting for what we want so long as we're fighting for something good. If what they truly want is good, the Diablo 3 critics could stand to be more positive in the way they're expressing their desires (and not just flaming what they don't like), but even the worst posts have been positive about something.
What is the positive thing a thread like this could be fighting for? Does it want to silence the debates and discussions of what people like? I don't see that as a good thing.
I don't want to start another separate thread, so I will post it here.
You guys just DON'T get it, you guys get people like ME wrong!
I think I speak for a lot of us who complained.
I LOVE Diablo 3, I am SO very excited about Diablo 3, more than any of you who aren't complaining can imagine, actually.
THE reason we are complaining about Diablo 3 (or should we call it concerns rather than complain?) is NOT because we hate Diablo 3, but ONLY because we LOVE Diablo So much.
Last week , I was Absolutely excited about the announcement of Diablo 3. It was an experence like ONE of THE BEST in my life!!! I EVEN KNEW it was Diablo 3, while many doubted it!
And, I TOTALLY Appreciate/am GRATEFUL to Blizzard for annoucing Diablo 3.
That said, however, in my head, to my expectations, I honestly had a different kind of Diablo 3 than what Blizzard showed. And, my expectation was VERY fair!
I was fine with Cinematics Trailer, it was Gorgeous and Jaw-Dropping, but sadly gameplay was NOTHING like the Cinematics. It's like two different groups did the Cinematics, and the game.
Anyway, the game I anticipated is it's the BEST of Diablo 1 & Diablo 2.
Best of Diablo 1 - Eerie/Creepy/Scarier, plus some enemies (Butcher, Succubus, Blood knights, Charging Rhino-Demons (Forgot their name)?), and a few quests.
Best of Diablo 2 - Everything Else like Items, Size, Quests.
I expected Diablo 3 was gonna be a combination of the Best part of 1 and 2, but No it definitely isn't close, Unforunately
Sure, I can say the graphics itself doesn't suck that much, it's pretty good actually, the gameplay is also satisfying I admit, but it sure as hell ain't creepy/scary like I thought it was.
Nevermind the inside area, the outdoors is the worst - The Rainbow, Bunnies, etc to me just Doesn't belong to a Diablo game.
I am just Disappointed about these approaches taken by Blizzard (Who to me, appearantly uses WOW to influence these NEW designs too MUCH)
So, DON'T say I am any less of a Diablo 3 fan when I am disappointed. DON'T say I don't want Diablo 3 anymore, or not as excited as Diablo 3 as you!
Cuz, that's BS and you guys don't get it!
I Know I am still going to get/play this game when it comes out (It will probably be a good game still), but I DO hope Blizzard listens to us fans and changes these things, that don't really belong in Diablo universe and make the game scarier/eerier to get close to what I had expected of Diablo 3!
The Blizzard I know is a Great company, they make games For Quality, NOT for $$$!
Hopefully hasn't completely corrupted Blizzard, due to WOW's $$$-making that influenced bad Diablo 3 designs.
Good post... but they still haven't shown anything beyond the first level. For all we know we could be in for a ride that's more creepy and scary than anything we've encountered in the first two games. But maybe not. Blizzard's noticed our complaints, so I think they'll keep it in mind when finishing the game.

Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!
SLOW TIME!!!!!
I feel that a scary environment is just a CORE of Diablo game atmosphere
Unfortunately, you are right, Diablo 2 was NOT as good in this area like Diablo 1 was, so I had Hoped Diablo 3 return to the Diablo 1's roots in terms of scary/eerieness, but not only it's not, it's Worse than Diablo 2, or at least it seems, which is really really sad.
Well, hopefully, it's NOT like that the entire game, there ARE many parts that ARE scary, and this gameplay demo just a small portion, you know?

I'd almost bet on it, that the gameplay we saw was the LEAST scary part in the game.

Quoted for truth, those that are whining are probably those that still play the game daily after 8 years, and that usually means that you have an addiction problem.
Look at this thread, http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10963
Majority are saying IT IS a factor!

Jesus, you dont stop do ya? Somebody get this guy a job at Blizzard so he can make us the perfect game cuz they are obviously not up to the task.

its not supposed to be a nice game
autostats are rediclous
lack of pots is not welcome
if it aint broke dont fix it! (diablo2)
HA!! Well said!
That's why it's called D3 and not D2: Revamped!

I'm sure it will have some scarier parts.
It was a little, but I bet we have a lot more in store for us than that.
