im guessing that all of us here are pretty experienced mmorpg gamers, and that we know what a great mmo consists of. although some of us only discuss about graphics, sound, and gameplay, isnt a huge part of it all is the psychological aspect?
one main thing is that sense of accomplishment that you get when you play mmo's. having that sense of fulfillment. the feeling inside you, that you know you did your best, and you succeeded, and also having that "show-off" status. because great mmo's give players a chance to set personal goals for themselves to accomplish, whether it be: killing a target in pvp, finishing a long dungeon, killing a huge boss, acquiring the best loot, leveling up, etc.
that "feeling", atleast for me, is what keeps me wanting to play the game more whenever i log off. that feeling of "Oh f**k yeah I did it!", or "Oh my God I've finally done it!", or "YES! YES! YES!", or "Holy sh*t I'm so good!". i got that feeling from D2 and WoW (please dont hate me for playing it), and i most certainly hope D3 will provide it.
hehe, i know we all think differently, but dont you agree with me? its that "feeling" inside you. its all about what goes on in our heads.
sorry that this kinda goes off topic, but were all anticipating the same game here. were so caught up with the "art direction" or whatever.
Thats why I play those games also.
But shit, just cuz im an orc, and your an orc. LETS BE FRIENDS OK?
get bent, thats rediculous. nothing pisses me off more than not being able to just kill someone of my own faction dead than that. and thats what im really hoping out of diablo 3. and with hardcore option looking likely. I want them to stay dead.
and Yes, when i played diablo, nothing gave me that sense of satisfaction more than knowing some dickheads character. months of effort. was dead and there was nothing he could do about it cept remake a new character.
i dont think so man. i dont think anyone thinks like this anymore..
nah blizzard will definately make diablo 3 rewarding, but if you have views like mine, im sure its going to be a dissappointment, after the success of blizzards ESport success better known as Arena in wow. i am close to sure diablo will have organised pvp. which will be gay.
i really thought demons exploding from the ground and stuff that diablos all about is the chaos that ensues. its a game about chaos, not about order.
but sure i do think you will get the rewarding feeling from it/
but for someone like me, this game doesnt look like it will be as intense as previous diablos, probably more like world of warcraft, lets beat up monsters and farm content until we can buy the next expansion.
some mmos are like work, while d2, not a mmo but more of a rpg/dungeon-dungeon crawler that happened to be online, is pure enjoyment. u didnt have to put a lot of effort or time into it to be good...i love the satisfaction of having the best stuff and being able to kill just about anything/anyone with 1 hit. (firesorc with 44-49k dmg per hit is O.o)
hopefully d3 wont be mmo-ish and require loads of time to get a char to a good lvl; thats what made d2 fun for me...^^

Ever since LOD came d2 has not been one bit intense at all. Or well maybe the first 2 weeks of LOD but the u figured out what it is.
I hope d3 brings back some real challenges.

Well before lod was just like this. You were able to get pretty fast to level 70 but not very easy tho after that it wasn't so hard to 80 but required some time but after 80 you really had to start work. Someone said in LOD you get 1-90 in one day.. I don't want anything like that to D3.
most-def man. im sure blizzard is aware how successful wow is, and theyre definitely not gonna hesitate to add wow elemnts into d3, thinking that those elements will make d3 successful as well. but d3 is an entirely different game and story.
I play MMO's for the community. I organize everyone into three groups. People I have killed, People that I havent killed, and people that help me kill.
I have no better joy than having someone a few levels higher than me PK me, and then 5 minutes later I gather my guild and make this guys guild extinct.
I want that enjoyment and fulfillment in Diablo 3.

The sense of accomplishment is the key reason for people to play the game in the first place. YOu play to win and winning gives you that feeling. Now how you define winning whether it be through awesome loot, big boss kill, a level up, or just winning a pvp battle is what keeps a person interested in the first place. I know the reason I quit WoW was because I was sick of killing the same damn monster over an over for one item and it never drops then I have to wait for an hour to find another group as well as (again) the endless monster massacring just to reach the next level.
If Blizzard just ends up doing the same thing for D3 I'm gonna fire bomb their headquarters.

Soon comes the day when all shall be free,
Even you, even me.
Soon comes the day all shall die,
Surely you but never I. We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
We ran to the sounds of thunder,
We dance among the lightening bolts
And tore the world asunder
I don't really get that sense of accomplishment in DII because Diablo and Baal on Normal are SOOOOO easy. I get a bigger sense of accomplishment killing Duriel lol.
