Hi everyone! i was looking through my library for something to play and i remembered that a few years back, blizzard gave out the base D3 game to anyone in wow who agreed to pay for a year (it was with the pandaria beta i believe.) I of course, never played it so i do not have the expansion. Is it worth playing the game without RoS or should i scrap together some cash and pick it up before I get heavily involved with D3?
Definatly scap together the cash. Without RoS you are capped at level 60. No adventure mode, Rifts, Greater Rifts, paragon levels, and the last act. Pretty much the whole end game.
Not sure if you can participate in season or not without RoS.

How is it that people can even ask this? Is any game with an expansion worth playing without it? No. The answer is always no.
No adventure mode, Rifts, Greater Rifts, paragon levels, and the last act. Pretty much the whole end game.
So instead of farming rifts over and over and over for no reason, you'll just have to farm the outer world levels over and over and over for no reason. I don't really see the difference.
You can play the campaign without expansion to see if you like the general look and feel of the game, then can always upgrade to expansion after if you like it. Expansion is 100% necessary if you want to get into the end game.

So the game is unique, fresh, rewarding, and not a movement simulator with no end game like now?

You say D3 RoS has no endgame? Now that's weird, since I'm playing the endgame. Troll somewhere else.
How is it the endgame if its the same exact thing you've been doing since 2 hrs after you started a brand new fresh char? Start game, mid game, end game, all the same game? Come on man, computer bots run rifts 5x faster than you, you are nothing

The outer world always is what made D3 not rng rifts, they dont mean shit anyway ppl have infinite keys and will fish for perfect rift until found, another broken game mechanic, but anyway yeh the outer world is where players should be. There they can enter into static and dynamic battles and events much like scripted events currently but on a much larger scale - with PvP elements added in and other players/factions/tribes joining in and creating a massive war. This is the direction D3 should head in - PvP with factions/tribes and rewards, also outdoor bosses like Azuregos in WoW

You are wrong. WIthout RoS at 60lvl you have paragon levels.
Huh I didn't know you could. I will admit i was wrong there. Still though it would be horrible trying to get to higher paragon levels while being confined to those lower torments and to story mode.
Coming to Diablofans to ask if it's worth a few bucks to play ROS.
Okay well let's just say +1 to spending a few bucks for the upgrade...
$20 to get ROS or $40 to buy the digital deluxe edition one with more character slots. You can buy the cheaper one (to make sure you like it) and then upgrade to the other one later (you will want the extra character slots) and it won't cost you but the $20 more to upgrade.
Good hunting.

back in d2 times we loved to play both, classic and LoD. so his question is legit for me.
So you are saying classic was as good as LOD even though if you played pure classic you didn't have extra classes, no runewords, and if I remember right no charms. No, LOD being installed made the entire game 100% better, irregardless of if you actually went into the LOD specific zones so the question is absolutely not legit. People that played pure classic withotu LOD installed were doing nothing but falling further and further behind those that were playing LOD. You can disagree all you want, but your wrong.

You know people can enjoy different stuff? There a small chance that not everyone is the same as you. A lot of people don't care if they "fall behind" they just play the game the way they prefer. I sometimes played D2 classic as well. I never even liked the idea of runewords. I also didn't think the new classes were that special. I prefered LOD, sure, but sometimes a good old classic run through the game was fun.

Look, do you see that? That's called an opinion.
You know what an opinion most closely resembles? An asshole. Because everyone has them, and most of them stink.

You cannot go past Torment 6, you only have one set to use per class, you cannot use Kunai's Cube, Kadala, or the enchantress, and you can't get legendary gems. Also, the amount of XP you get at 60 is 1/10th what you get at 70, so paragon progression is really !@#$ing slow.
