i dont see the logic in your arguement. Even the display of the video required people to be 18+ at the WWI and the gore level in the game also guarantees for a M rating (16+ for us Europeans) as were both previous games. But hell, werent there 13 year olds that bought Diablo (i was 12 at the time it was released) and Diablo II?
You missed my point, what i was talking about wasn't mostly on age, but the fact that i think they will be disappointing alot more diablo fans than getting more new other fans. i said 13 year olds because that about the age that kids start playing these, i was 13 when i first started playing diablo and D2. Again i think they would rather please the current diablo fans rather than disappoint them by going in a new direction and trying to grasp the attention of a group of new people. Than again if that is what they are doing then whatever, probably a money thing.
The reason I'm complaining about the skills -- I have this horrid nightmare of D3 turning into a mixture of dungeon siege and WoW. The axes pretty much contributed to this because the probability of such lame generic classification as "COLD ITEM" "LIGHTNING ITEM". And just freezing the enemies everytime? Lame as ****.
apparently we played both games for about the same time. Now on my latest time i played Diablo 2 (which was this afternoon) i remember freezing enemies without using any weapons that used frost damage (i had 2 small charms with freezing damage). I also remember items that did exactly that (other than just slowing them down which happened even more often) like Iceblink.
Now you're telling me that when it happens in the new game while its made to look better is lame?
Besides, such weapons wont be availiable so early (those and the hammer for example) they were added to the character to demonstrate the gameplay. You think the enemies will fall so easily when you're a lowbie?

I got your point but i countered it many times before to say it again:
whats happening is normal. It happened with Diablo 2 too and we still bought and loved it. Thats the same thing thats going to happen with its sequel.
Acording To The Gamestop Interview It Has Taken A Long Time To Get Where They Are Now With The Game And If All These Complaints Add On Another Year To The Release Date That Would Make All Diablo Fans Severely Unhappy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Rofl I remember Iceblink and the WW barbs that flooded that patch. Then, the Ballista zons that ruined my pally in the other patch. The good thing Blizz didn't sit back and let that stuff continue. But the freezing thing did kindof annoy me. Like any other stat it should not be a constant. The degree of freeze should be depending of one of your stats versus their stat (like cold resistance ect..)
Hopefully, Blizz will keep the huge diversity of weapon properties (prefixes, suffixes) and varying statistics. If they atleast keep as many items in D3 I will be happy.
I'm hoping the fights can be tactical and still gory will hordes coming at you in places, and by the demonstration they succeeded in this.
Well, we haven't waited for so many years to play a Warcraft game that is titled as Diablo I understand their wish to make it more friendly to the Wow/War3 gamers since there are millions of them, but that is a bit too much. It's like an expansion of warcraft, hack n slash style.
its not that bad. It reminds a bit of WoW only on the closest camera distance thats not practical at all to play and you dont really have to use much (except when you want to look at your character to check how the new loots are on you). On the rest of the game its pretty genre typical. 3D cant be just as the Diablo II graphics were. And its different to add a few filters on a screenshot than to completely change the textures and character (and armor) models for a whole game.

i remember how buriza (the pierce effect) combined with knockback and guided arrow had someone stunned while a single arrow hit him over and over again
I'm sure Blizzard takes such things into consideration. It was a starting area with enemies that barely had any resistances (pretty much like in the first acts of Diablo II) so the effects of the weapons were stronger.

The changes are not going to delay the game 3 years or even get it canceled. It sounds more like a scare tactic than a legitimate argument.
The majority of the people want to see more reserved choices of colors. That does not mean all the textures need to be redone. In fact the color of the textures is correct while the color of the lighting is really what's at fault. Changing the color of the lights for half the game would be less than 2 weeks work for one individual. In fact, the lighting is probably going to be revised several more times before release anyway.
There are other options as well, such as post processing filters that could perform a series of image adjustments to convey a different atmosphere without much work. Putting something like this together is well within the means of Blizzards programming team.

Trust me, DII fandom does not consist of the 4 million buyers. In fact, I am not sure if it even has 100 thousand in it. Most of Diablo II buyers will be non-fans aka me + people who don't know anything about Diablo but heard all the hype (main auditory).
I think we all need to take a second, and realize that we've only seen two zones in the game, in a gameplay trailer, in a game that probably won't come out for another 1-2 years.
Personally, I don't think the graphics or setting look bad. I would be a little disappointed if the ENTIRE game looked like the gameplay video, but I know it won't.
The changes will delay the game. Think about the amount of changes most are asking for:
(Taken straight from the petition)
- A darker, gothic, cryptic and creepier environment.
- A more realistic artistic direction, more independent from the Warcraft universe art direction.
- Darker dungeons without a blue/green environment, Diablo dungeons are dark and shadowy.
- The return of the light radius / shadow system from Diablo 1 and 2, a concept modified picture made by me roughly shows and suggests how the shadow system should work on Diablo 3:
- Slightly less colorful and less vivid outside scenarios, they are too heavily influenced by the World of Warcraft ones.
- Darker and less colorful landscapes, Tristam never was colorful and beautiful: here's how it looked in Diablo 1
- And most importantly: An independent and renewed artistic direction, not a recycled art direction taken from the Warcraft world, Diablo never was meant to be as cartoon'ish as Warcraft, they shall have independent and distinct styles, this isnt happening in Diablo 3, at first sight it looks like a remake of World of Warcraft, graphically and artistically speaking
Do you really think that that many changes wouldn't take a while? It's basically asking them to start from scratch.

I really don't see the point in them going back and completely changing the graphics, I will play if it stays the same or changes. If they have to change it just means longer we have to wait for a cosmetic problem that doesn't even matter because people will play either way.

The time people play will directly reflect things like the art design. As an example of this, because of the semi-bland landscapes of TQ, playing it again was simply tedious and dull. The same can be said about Hellgate: London.
we havent seen any actual screenshots of Old Tristram yet. Only an official wallpaper thats pretty dark/goth to me. The problem with people is they panic too easily and they dont have the patience to see how things are really going to be.
The good thing on the other hand is that Blizzard knows when to listen and when not to. There was a petition for more than a year to announce Diablo III. They only did so when they felt they it was time (technically 3 years after the start of its development).

Ahh, but we have seen the Cathedral and the surrounding woods... which is surrounding Tristram.
It would take a good 2-3 months. Even so, a perfect Diablo III is worth the wait.
2-3 months? Did you read the list? They want a complete redo or renewal of the art/graphics of the game. Think of how many different mobs, enviroments, doodads, and other such things are in this game. Now throw them out, and try to make them darker/more gothic. Do you think that a game that's been in development for years, is going to be able to redo much of the graphics in a few months?

We've waited 8 years for this. Seriously, if they've scrapped it twice, what do you think will happen if they're forced to start over again? I'm going to guess that it will go the way of Ghost. Not like they need Diablo, with WoW paying their bills.

Positive about the direction Blizzard is taking the game, Negative about nearly all of the suggested changes. I feel that most of the changes will only hurt the game.

Come on guys, only 9,994,000 signatures to go until you make a damn bit of difference past making the general community want to kick your asses for bitching about something completely idiotic which if taken into consideration could ruin a game we've been waiting well on 8 years for.
