monthly fees don't get rid of annoying 14 year old kids.
Take WoW for example, of the 10 million subscribers at least 80% of those are dumb annoying kids.
so no! i dont want Diablo III to be a pay to play game. I dont see a good reason for them to charge a monthly fee, other than ofcourse the profits they could muster up from it, but that would just make them greedy people.
Diablo 2 wasn't p2p and it still got content updates.
People have to realize that Diablo 3 is not an MMO, it has a start a middle and an end. They can extend the game with an expansion but it's not the kind of realm that you can keep adding knew islands, new dungeons constantly.
Also, you talk about kids as though they're going to significantly ruin this game. Diablo isn't a difficult game, anyone could play it. Even a young kid has a good chance to out-skill you.
And that's just my 2 cents. All games that are not in the MMO realm should remain free to play.
Look at WoW its p2p but its loaded with prepubescent scrubs and little kids running about. Hell look at their "realm" forums. Its what has started to plague all the Blizz forums (D3, SC, etc) And of course any diablo 3 fansite as of late :P. I remember when D3 was just revealed all the fail and little kiddies from WoW moved over to all the other various forums. A fee wont do anything it will just filter out some of the annoying cuban kids that frequent games like 2moons and bring in the spoiled 12 year olds that are lavished with cash by there parents. ~Sorry for the stereotype about Cubans and 2moons but if you have ever taken the time to play 2moons and go on a few vents you would understand ^.^
for years i was like many people, hell no if you think im going to pay money outside of what i forked out to get the stupid game in the first place.
Ive grown up and you realize shit aint free, d3 should be pay to play, i dont think it needs to be 15 a month, but 5 to 10 a month , maybe even a 50.00 yearly fee or something. I just hate seeing stupid stores and stuff making hundreds of thousands of dollars selling the duped items to newbs. there needs to be more anti-hacking and more bug updates. get a job but in 2 more hours a month and there ya go, stop crying, times are changing and u want a character thats actually going to mean something, like a lvl 70 wow character, or do u want you d2 character that has nice items but the person next to you bought all the same items for 12 bucks. you choose
I have absolutely no faith in Blizzard's pay model. They really screwed the pooch with WOW in regards to updating the game and providing "free" content. Their content patches were sad...sad...sad.
This will not be any different for Diablo 3....PLEASE DO NOT CHARGE!!
Pay to play doesn't stop children. Its easy to go steal a credit card out of your dad wallet and pay online and keep the card numbers to pay for the subscription. The best way to get rid of kids is to grief them in game until they cry and through a fit and break their computers
As for me pay to play gets somewhat costly because I don't have the ability to play online as much as I'd want to so it becomes a value vs. cost thing for me. I liked playing wow but I was unable to play hardly at all so I had to suck it up and quit. On top of that I like to play these games with my wife so its not just 15 bucks for us but 30. So the costs add up.
pay to play doesnt keep out the "14 yr old Bnet kiddies". and saying something like that seriously makes me think YOU are immature yourself. you know, there is plenty of adults in the world who behave more immature than a 14 yr old. age doesnt mean a thing. and, in every MMO that has a payed subscription there is idiots, immatures, scammers and hackers everywhere.
raising the price just because someone hacked or cheated? thats gonna make the player unsubscribe, not pay more. and Blizzard would just ban the player anyway, which is more logical.
and paying for content in a non-MMORPG is absurd. we CAN play this game offline, i know i am exclusively. if i get shut out on content just cause im playing offline, thus not subscribing, id be pretty upset.
And to the OP thinking hes paying for significant WoW updates with his monthly fee. Those patches you get every Tuesday are bug fixes and class equalization. Things that should have been right the first time; they wouldn't expect you to pay for that, but you are.
I laughed when i read some of the posts on this thread, people are complaining about kids under 17 playing the game? How old were you when Diablo 2 came out? I can probably hazard a guess that you probably weren't too much older than the kids you're complaining about now, so it was alright for you but not for them now?
P2P is utterly rediculous. I know so many potential players (adults, btw not immature kids) who would never want to be tied to rediculous contracts like a video game. WoW was mostly comprised of a) hardcore players who have no problem paying the fee because they want to dedicate 10 hours a day to leveling their orc and kids who asked their parents to buy them the game and pay a monthley fee for them.
Those are the only two types of people that sign up for monthley fees for a video game. People should be free to go on and off bnet whenever they want as long as they purchase the box.
94% of parents probably don't give a shit what their kids are playing honestly, Sad indeed, but true.
Yeah but you have to be 17+ to buy a M rated game... so if you buy a M rated game for your 14 year old (or younger) kid and not look at what it is... you kind of fail.

And that's been happening tons I'm sure
I doubt making the game pay to play will really stun the amount of children from playing the game because they're going to find ways to get their hands on some money one way or the other. If the money does go into new content, items and month updates then I will pay a monthly fee.

Im 14 and I've bought a lot of M games, it depends on country I think.

and Lulz... it would take an $800 comp to play D3
Also $15 a month seems ridiculous when you can buy another and another and another game instead of being confined to one.

Also, no thanks on p2p.

How patheticically hypocritical.

Murderotica, 14 year olds have the right to play for free, plus some would play anyway if it was P2P.
Ehhh, if something is rated M then I'm not so sure. I wouldn't want my 14 year old kid playing it.
If people want to let their kids play though, that's fine with me I guess.
