Seriously what kind of fucking mature adult plays Diablo 3, or better yet asks for a monthly fee?
You should have a full-time job, a family, children, and a wife.
The beauty of being an adult is you can make a hobby out of whatever the hell you like as long as you can pay for it. Stop telling people how to live their lives.
Anonymity in an online universe will forever make the audience have immature people. Being an "adult" has very little to do with being mature, because guess what, when you are online it doesn't matter.
And as was said before, what you do with your free time doesn't mean you don't have a life, and by you telling someone to get a life, just shows how immature and ignorant you really are.

strange apothecary souls have turned it into an ill-tasting drop of poison that makes the whole of life repulsive." -Nietzsche
Right, well, I'm tired of having to pay for games online, especially since all previous versions of Diablo were free to play over Battle.net.
Bad Things about your post.
1) Simply placing a monthly fee will not guarantee either Updates or Patches.
2) Placing a monthly fee will not keep immaturity out of games, children aren't the only ones who have parents and are immature.
3) People can't always afford 15$ a month, trust me, and you cant always just blame it on budget balancing, Uncle Sam's a serious *****.
4) Hackers won't give a damn about losing money, they'll just cancel the first account and remake. I used to be one so I should know.
No fee... Its a retarded idea... If there was a fee then I probably wouldn't buy it... I would rather spend my money wisely then on a video game every month.
A monthly fee would obviously ensure a better service than a free service. That is the whole purpose of a monthly fee. People aren't going to pay $15 a month if they aren't getting something for their money.
That being said, what you seem to be saying, is that because a couple people supposedly can't afford $15 a month, that there shouldn't be a monthly fee, even though a monthly fee would ensure a much better service.
That sounds pretty stupid considering, for these people who supposedly can't afford $15 a month to even have an opinion, they'll need to own a $1500+ pc capable of playing d3, they'll need $60ish ready to potentially purchase d3 when it comes out and they'll need about $40ish per month to pay for their internet connection. Basically, for their opinion to matter, they'll need to actually be able to play the game which will cost upwards of $1600 initial investment.
How exactly can you argue that anyone who is even capable of playing d3 will be even marginally affected by a $15 monthly fee in any kind of negative way?
You can't, because so few people will be affected it won't even be a factor compared to how much better the game would be if it was p2p.
I somewhat agree with you, but a $15 monthly fee for D3? That's not even worth it, it's not an MMO - I can do $4.99, but 15? The scale of service has to be ground breaking for $15 on the scale of the actual game.
when asked if an online subscription will be in affect for D3 battle.net , rob pardo already said that D2 will be very close to resemble D2 and SC2 battle.net, which means no subscription. End of this Thread. Thread Closed

LOL this is the first real forum i have ever participated in, only becuase of my LOVE for the diablo franchise. But poking around here since the announcment, ive learned a few things. We all HATE each other LOL. We should take our "potential" ( and i really exagerate that potential ) monthly fee, rent out a warehouse, and just beat the hell out of each other, we'd all feel alot better.

I find it hard to believe that someone cant find that small amount of money. I mean eat ramen noodles a few nights a month and bam save you some money. If you look for it im sure you can find something.
Yeah, that's healthy, make your wife and kids eat ramen noodles so you can play an online game.
You apparently are a kid yourself, as you don't think anyone that plays Diablo would have responsibilities (outside of themselves, that is). So, would the monthly fee keep you out?
it´s crazy that you pay for a game AFTER you payed big money for it in the store. Oh, and even if you don´t pay for it it does´nt mean that there won´t be updates/expansions for the game. If the game is popular then of course they will make updates/expansions for it. besides, there are people that only have modems, and that´s no very fun to play online with. A monthly fee would ruin the oppertunity for those people to play single player.
Eh, you're missing the point, you'd be paying the monthly fee to play online, the single player aspect is always free.
I still live with parents, but i do pay for a lot of my own bills. I work 7-5 mon-friday so I make a nice amount of money. There is always an extra 15 buck laying around.
Then you have absolutely no right to talk about people that are making an income just to survive, now do you? Well, your point was stomped to death anyway, they won't be charging a monthly fee, and WoW proved your theory about game cards wrong in the first place (like those kids couldn't just ask mommy and daddy -- i.e., kids like you) to pay via their credit cards.
Oh, hey, you do know that you can go to Kroger/Wal-Mart/Walgreens and buy PREPAID CREDIT CARDS, now, right? So, yeah, the game card theory... take it to Mythbusters so they can stuff it up a sausage rocket and blow it sky high. (No, that's NOT a sexual joke -- watch the show!)
Yes, but why not do everything possible for them not too. The less they play the better.
First of all, you're a kid, yourself. You admitted you live with your parents. So, I agree, we should do whatever it takes to make less kids (like you) play this game.
i dont think monthly fees will keep kids out of the game to the extent that you want it to, murderotica,
however, IF a monthly fee would mean meticulous updates and bug fixes and balancing and the like then i'm all for it.
in fact how about a monthly fee for the use of BATTLE.NET only that way you could play both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 for just the purchase cost and one monthly fee! (i think this idea was already posted though)
anyways with or without a monthly fee the game will be fine but i'm not opposed to shelling out a few calms to enjoy it. (and this is coming from a poor college student >_<!!!)
Yeah, meticulous updates and bug fixes and game balance... THAT'S what the money is for! hahahaha
Try signing onto a game called EverQuest. We pay the same fee, get patches every few weeks, and I swear we have more content broken than ever gets "fixed" (though usually, fixes are just glorified nerfs in the name of "game balance").
So, no, it's about company integrity, not [entirely] about money.
2. Blizz rarely updated d2. Why not pay an extra 10 or 15 a month for added content regularly.
4.I understand. But people pay a lot more for other recreational stuff. Instead of a case of beer play a game. Sacrifice going to a movie 1 night a month and have the money for it. Its not really sacrificing its just reorganizing your priorities.
2. Diablo II had far and away more replayability than WoW or EverQuest. People are still playing it all these years later. No monthly fee required. Hmm!
4. What about people that can't afford ANY recreational stuff? The cost of the game and the cost of the internet connection are pretty steep as it is.
Once again, if they implemented a monthly fee, what makes you think they won't sell game cards? AND -- hello -- prepaid credit cards which you can purchase from Walgreens/Kroger.
Yes because we all know there is no such thing as a hobby.
Idiot.
Not to mention not everyone wants kids, or even wants to get married for that matter.
Let us all wring our hands and wonder why we weren't fortunate enough to fit into Assign's perfect mold for the world.

For all you other people.
Diablo 3 is not WoW, there will not be PvP worlds, there will not be PvE worlds, it will most likely be as Diablo 2's Room Creation System was.
We don't know what the hell Blizzard is planning unless they tell us about it before hand.
Don't flame him just because he had an idea about a way to deal with these things.

My Ideas on a Fee System.
If there is going to be one, it wont be monthly, it'll be completely optional, for players that want certain items or upgrades etc.
They may use it for "Gold" updates for people who want that update before it goes to the Freeworlders.
However, Blizzard most likely will not fee the game, especially with it being a Battle.net game.
Anyway my rant is over.
