Well, people in WoW forums complain and changes get made!
Blood elf male character was changed from buff to normal due to complaints so it works thats why people do it
But I have to say, the game is fantastic the way it is. I already saw the gamespot interview with d3 lead developer so I understand what his plan for making d3 colorful is, so it doesnt bother me. Sure the darker screenshots look better, but they are only screenshots, I dont know how they would look in regular gameplay, all darkish. Its colorfully dark, its not cartoony, its more like SPAWN
Certainly, we've only seen x% of the game now, however, what I saw in that little bit was enough to worry me. Do you not think, that as a fan of the past games since 1997, that I would jump at the mention of the latest sequel? Do you not think that I have been wanting this game to come out for a great many years? And now you wonder why, even though I liked the changes from 1 to 2 and to LoD, and to the patches since, I am worried about the jump to D3.
The gameplay itself seems like it will be alright, although I don't like the inventory changes nor the health orbs rather than potions. I'm not sure about the skill bar yet, that remains to be seen.
The atmosphere is what I'm not sure about, and what worries me the most, as the atmosphere is what truely set the Diablo universe apart from the myriad of clones. The dark gothic setting is why there is still people out there trying to make a Diablo killer, as nothing can grab the people like Diablo did. Titan Quest came closest I'd say, but still failed. Diablo is just too engrossing. Based on the gameplay trailer however, if what we saw is what we are going to get, I am not going to like the final product very much, and is why we are hoping to change some of it before it hits the shelves.
Don't make Aliens vs. Predator out of Aliens...make Diablo III, and give me the atmosphere that goes with it. There's a reason why Aliens is one of the best movies made, and is on almost everyone's "must watch list". And there's a reason why AvP is on the opposite list. Don't make a Diablo III that is like that, that's all I am asking.

Thats a very intelligent post, I agree with what you are saying. I watched the lead developer's interview with gamespot on youtube about D3's atmosphere being colorful. He mentions that eventhough they made the choice for the game to be colorful, they will make sure its dark emotionally for the gamers and we get that experience. Hellgate was a dark game but it failed. I think D3 will be so good it might make D2 extinct like Warcraft 3 made WC2 extinct. We will see if my predictions are true.

Hey you can always play D2. To me, the gameplay changes are awesome. It's going to be so much more intense. I hated fiddling around with inventory and 30 potions. More killing less fiddling with your purse...
I don`t agree, we need to complain because it is PC gaming and it is blizzard, only thing that makes us different from others is uncompromising, interactive community and game developing from both sides, so we should never stop complaining....
I've been a forum reader for a long time, ever since the beginning it was made, I just lured around and read. Now I felt llike registering because of Diablo 3 news.
Anyways, guys, please, PLEASE can you stop all the complaining?
You were all wanting Diablo 3 so bad, and were all hyped up about it, and now that you've seen virtually <1% of the game, you're all complaining about everything.
Honestly, if it was me, I'd buy the game if it was the exact same as D2 but with graphical updates. Shit. Actually, name it Diablo III exact same as Diablo II and i'd still buy it
Can you please just not complain, but rather suggest new content? You know blizzard people are reading this forum and what you guys say, so instead of the hate threads, be nice
Blizzard is our friend
i bloody agree with you m8. im tired of this. any true diablo fan would ignore the graphics (ever seen the graphics from d1 and d2 they are shit and yet they are both fucking amazing games)
the graphics look great, there is lots of blood and gore and the updated barbarian looks fucking badass, his moves are just bloody brilliant. as iv stated like 4 times already, it brought a tear to my eye to see the gameplay trailer. there is nothing that im mad about in this game except for the witch doctor, but without having played the game i cant really comment.
im actually wanting to play it so badly it seems like ill be playing it next week however it wont be some time. and im not entirely sure if i can wait
Blizzard waits so long to develop sequels that effectively, their fanbases become very dedicated and want to stay so true to the original formula that they cry out at any innovation.
I remember the D1 Fanboys moaning and complaining when they first got a glimpse of D2. Blizzard proved them all wrong then, and will do so again. When have blizzard ever made a bad game? (Don't even think of saying WoW. 10 million people disagree with you).
You morons can be "tired" all you want. I'm tired of seeing wankers drinking piss like it's wine. It happens. I don't bother them for it. YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THREADS WHERE THERE IS COMPLAINING, YOU DUMB WANKERS.
Alot of people OBVIOUSLY CARE ALOT ABOUT WHAT THE GAME LOOKS LIKE. Yet ignorant fanboys, obviously buying the game with their mom's money, don't demand the utmost quality that we should demand of a long awaited game. THIS GAME NEEDS TO BE PERFECT. IT SHOULD BE THE SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR TO THE DIABLO FRANCHISE, AS WELL AS INNOVATIVE.
Here are a series of questions that may make a few brainless imbeciles here think:
1. Is the art style important to the mood of the previous Diablo series? Yes or no? If yes, how important? Hugely or no.
Any idiot who thinks the art of Diablo isn't sharply different from other "fantasy" series can go hang himself from the Tree of Inifiuss. Balrogs look menacing and huge. Are you really NOT startled when you find a Goatman hiding behind a door in Catacombs? When a Stygian Doll runs up on you teleporting through Durance?
2. Is the artwork of Diablo III a big departure from the previous games? ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY. So the big question that the Dev team must answer is - why? And call me cynical, I think it's more about bringing stuff that worked in WoW (to make more money selling to ppl with cheap computers), than it is preserving the SOUL of Diablo. The soul of Diablo is a horror fantasy with a great plot and graphics that move along that horror.
ANYONE WHO CAN'T SEE REASON FOR CONCERN IS A COMPLETE MORON.

I have nothing against saying "I do not like something" This forum is somewhat democratic, you have the right to voice an oppinion.
My issue is with the fact that people are reactly like they are seeing the finished product.
This game is in what? Alpha stages at best? That leaves (at least) Beta then Finish Product.
"It's too Light! It's not dark enough!"
It's a demo. Is it possible that certain aspects were lightened up simply so you could better see things?
"That Barb is pwning, this game looks to easy"
It's a demo. Is it possible that the character was altered purely so the person playing wouldn;t look like a jackass if they died?
I am all for the discussion of the videos, ideas, gameplay whatever, but come on, some of the stuff being said here is unbelieveable.
What is the quote of the week here? facepalm was it?
I admit not everone here are expects on Diablo, it's gameplay or it's lore. Nor should we expect them to be. There are all sorts of people here, young, old, experienced, inexperienced, but I really do wish a little more thought went into posting, or at least read over what you just typed before hitting submit.

BLIZZARD IS ALL-WISE AND ALL-KNOWING, OHM.
BLIZZARD NEEDS NO DIRECTION FROM THEIR FANS, OHM.
I AM A COMPLETE DUMBASS...UM?!
This is a picture of the very first alpha build of Starcraft that Blizzard presented, from the Wikipedia page on Starcraft:
It obviously draws alot of inspiration from the Warcraft II, a very successful game. What does Wikipedia say on this?
Wikipedia sez:
Blizzard Entertainment began planning development on StarCraft in 1995, shortly after the beginning of development for Diablo.[32]Using the Warcraft II game engine as a base (WoW?!), StarCraft made its debut at E3 1996. The version of the game displayed, assembled by the team's lead programmer Bob Fitch, received a rather weak response from the convention and was criticised by many for being "Warcraft in space".[33] As a consequence the entire project was overhauled, bringing the focus onto creating three distinct species. Bill Roper, one of the game's producers, stated this would be a major departure from the Warcraft approach, comparing its two equal sides to those of chess and stating that StarCraft would allow players to "develop very unique strategies based on which species [is being played], and will require [players] to think of different strategies to combat the other two species".[34] In early 1997, the new version of StarCraft was unveiled, receiving a far more positive response.
OH-EM-GEE. WOW. TO THINK, THEY MIGHT BE MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE THEY MADE IN THE PAST.
Fine. I'll spell it out for the truly dumbest of you, what they would call the profoundly retarded in medical speak.
When Starcraft was being developed, Blizzard used the Warcraft II engine more than necessary, and did not innovative and adapt that artwork for the Starcraft universe.
Because Blizzard was young and didn't have such a great reputation back then, it was criticized.
Now, almost the exact same thing is happening, except in this case, Blizzard has a sterling reputation. But you have to remember that no new games have come out since WoW, which has been a huge cash cow. So they might be myopic, or blinded.
Blizzard can commit the same mistake they did for Starcraft in Diablo III's case, slightly just modifying WoW's game engine and not fully capturing the mood of Diablo.
If voicing your opinion is complaining then everyone should just STFU and eat the swill put before them - so to speak. Blizzard can't know what the Diablo community wants most without the community's opinion. LOD was released in 2001. That is seven, count them, s-e-v-e-n years; so let's not talk about cowing down and being thankful. There are always going to be complaints. Complaints translates easily into negative opinions because that is exactly what they are. You can't show viability of an opinion without comparing both the negative and positive aspects. Semantics is really a problem these days.
Personally, I thank Blizzard for not officially shutting down the D2 servers. It has had to be a real pain in the ass for them. Hacks and bots seemed to be limitless. If bnet deployed a fix, someone out there had an unfix by the end of the week. I just started playing again recently, after about four years, so I really haven't had a chance to check the hack/bot situation out thoroughly. Hopefully, these people have pullled their all-too-selfish heads from their asses. Cheating on SP mode is one thing; but cheating in competition is the third most amoral thing I can think of. Blizzard definitely does deserve a rainstorm of praise and thank-yous for tolerating the bullshit on the free D2 servers and hanging in there for those of us who just want to play an honest game that we absolutely love.
