And we did get plenty of blood from dying monsters
Don't worry, after the Activision accountants add up the cost of spending extra months localizing content for the German and Chinese censors, all of that stuff will be gone. At least they're thinking ahead - notice how the dead bodies are gone in a matter of seconds?

You're scaring me more than the Butcher ever did... and I was like 9 when I first saw the Butcher. He was scary.

Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!
SLOW TIME!!!!!
To be fair..the guys over at flagship probably don't have the same resources that they would have working with Blizzard.
Exactly.
They didn't have much to work with and they were working on something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from Diablo.

But plenty of WoW megashoulderpads, rainbows and Disney music!
People should be banned for stupid posts like this.
Disney music? They music in Diablo 3 is epic as hell. 10x better than the music in any of the other Diablo games. (save the Tristram music).
Rainbows? Please show me some rainbows.
And mega shoulderpads? See, when you go to this cool thing called '3D', things have depth! It's amazing, I know, but we no longer have flat, 2D images.
Everyone's waited so long for a D3 announcement, and when it does peolpe want to can the dev team just because of the graphics?
hahah yea, it's true.
Diablo fans wanted a game that looks like Diablo, but next gen.
Developer's neglected a simple request and made a cartoon.

Lydeck, obviously you've invested a lot of time and energy into this site and into expectations of the game. I think if it was a text-based variation on "tetris", you'd still insist it was the greatest game ever. Work on the objectivity.

There was a rainbow (did you not watch the gameplay video?), and other people have complained about the warcraftish shoulder pads.
Personally, I like the music, rainbow, and armor. However, the armor in the concept art does look much better, and there were some pretty dang cool barb armor in D2, so I hope they'll implement some of those... and chances are they will. THIS IS D3!!!

they had EA funding them, thats pretty good money if you ask me. They failed cause they created too many expectations. Spreading word that Hellgate: London would be "the inofficial sequel to Diablo 2" ruined a game that would be half-decent otherwise.
I know what you all mean to an extent, but it just seems like everyone is wanting a complete overhaul - that's out of the question.
I didn't see a rainbow, so I'll have to download the high-res trailer to see it.
And me, the story and gameplay is still there, so I'm sold. I think if they add some dirt, debris, blood, dead - impaled bodies etc to the ground, walls, and around the area, then even the "wowish" graphics as some people say would amtch D3 perfectly.
And this stuff can be easily added. The game is probably in Alpha stage, they're tring to get everything set and down-pat. The final scenery touches (all the stuff I mentioned above) can be easily added later.
I'm not being very objective, I know, but it just pisses me off to see everyone bitching about the game, where I pictured us all being happy about it.

We're trying to balance satisfying the fans and also creating a game that feels like our own.

agree with everything except the highlighted spot. Its probably even before pre-alpha. More or less just as StarCraft II was by the time it was announced.
...alot of people dont think it really does have the same overall feel of diablo 2...
How can you build an opinion about the _overall_ feel of a game, when you just saw a little Trailer? The _overall_ feel isn't made of graphics only, especially in Diablo-Games.
The announcement of D III and what I saw so far clears one thing up: It's not about particular persons, it's about Blizzard to set up the guidelines for creating great games. Bill Roper & Friends are out, Diablo is still in.
I keep reading these posts about people wanting the original developers back for D3. I thought about this for a while and thought, why?
The original dev's all went off and formed their own company called Flagship studios. They proceeded to create a game of their vision of the future style of Diablo 3 and to be frank, it sucked. If they stayed and created Diablo 3 in the same style/respect as HG:L, then I think a ton of people would be extremely disapointed. So if you really want the old dev's back, go play HG:L and ask yourself if you want developers who would settle for that low of a quality of game.
So I must give my regards to Blizzard and the new developement team for doing the right thing and keeping the original overall feel and style of Diablo 2 and upgrading the technology while keeping the familiarity. Otherwise, we might be playing Diablo 3: Helllgate.
No. They created Mythos to be made in a similar vain to Diablo. They created Hellgate by using the atmosphere they created in Diablo while trying something new out. The only reason the game failed was because of:
1. A lack of LAN.
2. A lack of an open b-net style of server (single player characters are allowed).
3. New content supplied by a monthly fee.
This doesn't work very well in a small game.
Lots of people don't understand stuff like this, though.
I wonder how dumb they feel for leaving Blizzard and forming Flagship, which as of now hasn't really done anything amazing.
I don't expect to see any Flagship WWI anytime soon if you know what i'm sayin.
I'd want old developers back but it seems they wanted to make DIII a MMO, and then they made Hellgate London which is probably one of the disappointing games of the year or something.
