Dude, seriously? That would just ruin all the fun. Less pay, more fun!
Haha, I just want a fee in spite of the people that claim they won't play if there's a fee. I mean seriously. If there WAS a fee with Diablo it'd be like $5 a month. If you can't pay $5 a month for a game then you shouldn't even be playing it to begin with.
But in all seriousness, I don't want a fee ... it's easier that way. But it just annoys me when people claim they couldn't afford it or won't pay it. If they have a rig that can run Diablo 3, then they could pay a small fee. lol. But if there's an option to pay a monthly fee for extra character slots or what-not, then count me in.
But I had a new revelation with fears. My biggest fear is people hack in the game. Hopefully this game has an unbeatable anti-cheating software or something that keeps people from hacking.
There's hacks in every game. What we need to worry about it the possible, not the impossible. The possible being Blizzard/Battle.net actually doing their best to prevent such things.
There are so many things that are done nowadays; captchas? Pressing things to assure your are human, Answering questions, various confirmation questions like math problems.. and yet spambots and all sorts of shit still make it through.
This is general.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
But the idea is that less and less make it through such tests. We used to get bots like hell before some proper precautions were taken here. While we're in the full knowledge that we will never eliminate 100% of the spam bots, programmers and generally logical-minded people are working hard on updates for vBulletin, PHPBB, etc. to cut down on the amount of bots that pass. And, to catch the rest, there's this awesome concept called "live moderation"
Same way with any game- they do the best they can based on the misgivings of their past games. By the time Diablo III is nearing the end of its season, I'm sure bots will be on the rampage again, and new precautions will need to be taken.
Of course we can't stop them all; not even a monthly fee could accomplish that. However do we not all agree that the amount of hacking/exploiting/botting was at a level that directly affected the integrity and difficulty of the game in an online setting? I seriously can't bear to play this game online it is such a joke.
One question I can't help but ask is why Blizzard ever allowed Diablo 2 to get as hacked and exploited as it did? Did they not have the resources to catch the hackers? Were they just lazy? Did they just not care? Did they actually think that it would make the game better by letting people hack it? What will be different about Diablo 3 that would encourage them to "clean up" battle.net?

The code was written sloppily. The game never planned to achieve such popularity online. The netcode was basically a modified LAN code used for B.Net. Over time, they fixed many of the potential exploits that could be fixed, but to make a hack-free game out of it, they would have had to build the whole game from ground up.
My biggest fear is it not being released till im dead. *cough*dukenukemforever*cough*

Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could
As good as D1 and D2 are, I don't want D3 to be too much like them other than the style of game.
This game just has to be on a different level. In a different league as to how much better it will be. I really want to see them do more with the world and environment. Granted they've shown us some of that in destructible things within the game world.
There should be multiple towns that you can visit and travel between on foot if you wanted. Make it seamless and zero load screens.
The level of polish I am expecting is unparalleled.
My greatest fear is that when D3 comes out people will continue hating on it for looking different than the other games and not play it. I don't want D3 to die because I'm really looking forward to playing it. If nobody else is ever online because they don't like the way it looks it'll suck.

Yeah, if no one is ever on that won't be much fun at all.
The haters on this board represent a tiny fraction of actual Diablo players. And most of them will play no matter what. They're just wanting to bitch and moan because it doesn't live up to their nostalgic view of Diablo I.
In fact, their incessant complaining about art and bitching about Blizzard is quite pathetic, IMO.

a 40 dollar game has provided me entertainment for years...... i'll be dammed if i have to pay 15 bucks a month for it...
oh, and the diablo universe is not the warcraft universe. So i hope they take that into consideration when designing the art.
I hate anime because its big, flashy, and obnoxious. So far some a bunch of the art leans in that direction, but i hope they fix that.
