I'm still buying the game even if its P2P, I really wish i could buy the game now, it looks incredible even if its just an early alpha build or whichever.
Money isn't any issue for a game like Diablo and made by Blizzard!
They haven't failed in any of there games yet, i don't see that happening ever. Looking at there track record of every game released, more likely Game of the Year of awards, that already tells you if they are worth investing and paying for.
Hell no diablo isn't worth paying to play. I don't have to pay to play Halo co-op, and I didn't have to pay to play Diablo II co-op. if the online is just co-op again why the hell would anyone in their right mind pay for it? I'd lean not even buy the game as well

100% agree. When I played D2, hacks completely ruined my experience... Back in the day when Ethereal "Ith" swords were around and duped items up the ass ever... F that... I will pay whatever the fee Blizzard asks, because their games are that good.
IMO: The question is really just one of morality. If they choose to make the whole game pay 2 play, they will make millions of dollars more, yet ALOT of their fanbase will be mad, even many of those who still buy it.
But if they dont make it pay 2 play, many fans will be happy and remain loyal fans of the company wich may bo good for the long term.
IMO its almost like elastic and inelastic goods (for those of you who had to take economics in high school). Just like raising gas prices, even though they are out of controll people still need gasoline. But if prices get unspeakably rediculous (like idk... $1000 per gallon, rediculous but you get my point) people will be forced to find any extreme alternative, but otherwise they will just deal with the regular crazy and not unspeakable prices.
MORPG's are seen by video game companies as THE best way to bring in money. (Thats what I heard from my uncle who works for EA) Instead of being a one-shot gamble of $50, there is a steady flow of monthly or weekly profits that continues and perpetuates itself. Thats the incentive behind giving out free one month WOW demos, even though youll think, I'll just play one month and get tired of it, you play and get hooked, and theres the trap. The whole idea is that if they can make that big step and get you hooked, they can count on you to provide a steady flow of money for a good amount of time.
We just gotta hope that Blizzard makes the game available for people who just want to pay once and keep playing without worrying about monthly subscriptions.
People have the misconception that the game itself will be P2P. There will be a single player mode and that's obviously free. However, if you wanted to play online the you may have to pay.
I'm just gonna play the devil's advocate here. I think a lot of people are feeling betrayed by Blizzard cuz they think they're selling them out, but let's see what this fee actually does. The fee go towards security, additional content, etc. that will improve the quality of the game. Otherwise, there will be hackers, botters, and dupers just like in D2. Then EVEN MORE fans will be outraged and will demand Blizzard to fix it. Well, with what? Blizzard isn't gonna pull money out of their pockets to fix these problems!
So hackers will run wild making the game unfair, botters will be filthy rich, and dupers will cause MASSIVE inflation! Alas, the world of Sanctuary will crumble, not at the hands of Diablo nor any of the other Prime Evils, but at the hands of you CHEAP BASTARDS!!! That's right! Let the guilt seep into your corrupted soul and slowly eat you alive! May you have pleasant dreams of roaming the dark dungeons of Diablo 3 and then find yourself waking up to Maplestory!! May god have mercy on your soul... But seriously though it's just 50 cents a day. Just get a part-time job. If you're not old enough to get a job, then you're probably not old enough to play Diablo 3.

This dude is right. Its kinda lame to p2p for a game you bought and especially a Diablo game, which isnt like WoW where a monthly fee is needed to keep the servers going and adding content and etc. But they said Diablo 3 will be co-op with 4 players per game.. I'm not going to pay a monthly fee for that, it's not worth it.
They make so much freaking money with WoW.. I would buy it but only for single player if it is actually P2P.

Who says that Blizzard won't add new content and areas? Maybe they will release TWO expansion packs because of the extra revenue.
That sounds like a good idea to me. And since D3 isn't an MMO, and $15 is usually the price for playing one, I think Diablo 3 will have maybe $5 MAX for some fee.
Damn i voted yes. I thought its says along theses line "I'll pay you just let me play the game right now, before its release". But I would say no if it has a subcription like WOW. I got hacked a few times till the point where the games become unstable.

Agreed, I don't see Diablo 3 costing any more than 5 bucks tops to play online... And I think it will be optional to pay that amount.

O come on dude, what kind of content would they add to Diablo 3 that would require a monthly fee?? Expansions are another story, we pay once to buy them. The only fee that people might have to pay is for some features that will be in the new battle.net, thats it!
Paying to play in co-op mode with 3 other people is a rip off. Think of it as Diablo 2 with way better graphics, differnt classes( some), different story.. Nothing really changed in terms of playing online: Co-op mode with even less people, maybe its for the better, and chat and stuff like that.

By your logic, why pay $50 for Mario Galaxy? You can just go to the Wii store and get good ol' Mario World for $5 bucks! Mario Galaxy is really no different then the nes version except for the better graphics and slightly different story right? Shoot, why play any new video game at all?? It's all just better graphics and different stories

Who said a monthly fee? I sure as hell didn't. I just said a simple fee. It could be for ANYTHING. Maybe it's guild related? Maybe it's for more storage space. Maybe it's for just more additional content for weapons, items, runes, or anything else that the devs have to start from scratch. These things cost money. And personally, a small fee isn't that bad and it goes a long way. They did say microtransactions and that word 'micro' seems awfully small to me :D.

Tons of things have changed.
I meant in a technical way, technical online experience way. What could possibly change in online play for them to assign a monthly fee?? thats what I meant.
wow i really dont get why a 5 dollar fee is so hard to get...you cant cop five bucks from ur parents and thn use it for a card sheesh 15 bucks aint bad either lol look if it makes hackers lfy away gives me constant upgrades of items runes skills expansions WHY NOT DO IT unless you jus twant diablo 3 as it is now with 5 classes and howevere many act and these graphics same items same monsters no adjustments to the players needs... is that what those of you who dont want a fee want.. now i know itd be better for our pockets if there was no fee but that fee can get us alot of shit that we might need

I'll pay depending on the amount of things they give us for the money but otherwise I'll just program a lan based program to work around b.net or use one of the many around the net already with communities, they can't stop us doing it cause its not illegal to make those type of systems
Give me a bang for my buck but other get stuffed basically.
Reasonable isnt profitable I dont think. Look at the polls, more than a third would buy the game even if there was a monthly fee. blizzard would expect to make more money off of a flow of cash from just that 1/3 of fans than from all of the other fans only paying once. I really really hope tho that there isnt a monthly fee. This is just my opinion, but if i have to keep paying for something, I dont feel like I own it, and that just kinda sucks.

According to a few, that's the wave of the future and we should just deal with it without complaint.
