Picture Instead of your character on the bottom of the battlenet screen, what if all the characters were able to wonder in a town?
Half the screen, or a quarter would be to join a game, just liek diablo 2 is now. And the other half would be a small town, you would be able to wonder around.
So instead of talking in a big chat box, we can talk in game. While you can leave anytime to join a real game. And this town could be like Tristram.
That would be neat imo.
And
What if, instead of guild housing, you can just make a game/gameserver for your clan!!!!
That would enable easy x-fers, easy way to do anything with your guild and not be bothered.
Well the first point I personally disagree with. I'm fine with just a chatting interface with lil icons. I think the icons could be a bit more animated when they're making an action, or just talking in general. Something like /me kiss would show your character icon blowing a kiss or something. Besides, if there was like a little town for the public, the amount of bandwidth usage could be too high for alot of internet users.
As far as the second point. They have that in DiabloII.. It's called a private game.
Can you imagine all of USEast in one town? There are 2 choices: 1) Have these town hubs be large enough (think City instead) to allow that many concurrent players or 2) break up the popullation into separate towns.
The first one seems more likely; similar to how a major city in WoW is constructed - which also lends itself to the 'Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing and environmental and/or architectural illustration' clauses in the job section of the Blizzard site.
This begs the question; do they stick with the old model of 'x' players per game or do they build a persistent world that you can adventure in.
All these sorts of ideas we're tossing out make it sound more and more like an MMO; mostly because it just makes sense for them to take the next step in terms of design. 8 players to a game was fine for D2 (and it had to be, probably because of server limitations), but now that server hardware can support tons more people...

Wtf fb? It's simple to understand...
Yes, it's a dumb idea. Too much lag, the chat would suck because there would be too much with a feature like that it'd get out of control, and doing that kind of thing, there wouldn't be a good chatbox else that would block some of the screen, it'd have to be old-school Diablo 2 chat style in-game. Also, have the screen for playing kinda SUCKS!

i think if you have the channels act as a city it could work. or you could just have a city for your own guild. and with blizzard working under vivendi games and one of the highest income of gaming co. i think they could help battle.net to become less laggy.
Well you have all the older games as well; they can't completely drop support for them.
D2, D2:LOD, SC, WC3/TFT, WoW, SC2, Diablo 3
Quite a few games for them to support. Plus the VOIP stuff, mobile chat interface. HUGE battle.net changes, just like they've been hinting at. We'll have to wait and see...
Each channel was like 20-30 people - so each channel would have a small town for 20-30 people, and maybe with an auction house linked to all the other channels for item selling.

Item seeling from Blizzard people have amde items for themselves then auction them off for in-game gold. Well, thats if gold is made to hold more value. So money can be traded for items.

Hehe not sure what you said lol, I was just thinking of maybe a WoW type auction house thats linked with all the channels for people to sell and buy items with the gold they aquired - the gold in d1 and d2 was too easy to get and had no real purpose, so I hope it is more worth something in d3

Sorry, I didn't realize how many typos there were. I pretty much said that it would be cool if there were auctions for cool items in the chat rooms where the items aren't being sold by players but by Blizzard members. And of course, if gold was made to be worth a lot more than it is now, then we can just use gold as currency in the auctions.

Why make it so impractical by splitting up the screen? Just dump the chat-room and manage everything in-game through your character like in WoW/Guild Wars/Whatever.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
this is not part of my post, this is a signature, it's not a really big signature for now but maybe some time later it will have cool pictures and more information and stuff on it like from games or some other things i don't know

Who knows? Hopefully we find out in June.
