This is also what I was trying to get them to say in the questions for Blizzcast, but no need now, they've said it already.
That's what I've been trying to tell you, Shere - if someone has questions for people who actually made the game, current Blizzard employees are the last people to ask. Funny that you had to stumble upon an interview to find that out.

It's not so funny. I didn't stumble on the interview, it was posted here. As far as the current employees go; I reckon you must be an ex employee to be quite so bitter about the lack of any original diablo staff there. You still haven't given one shred of proof to back up your statements.

Shere, nice to hear your acknowledgement of the "lack of...". All I've been doing here is trying to engage in the charitable endeavor of relieving folks of the delusion that such a thing is otherwise. Now that even the densest here (like the type that would attribute character design to a programmer) are coming around to the self-evident truth, there obviously is no "proof" necessary. Congratulations on your progress.
You are all reading this part in the new postings:

But you all miss the other part:

[SIZE=-1]We would also like for this candidate to have excellent analytical understanding of competitive online play with various Blizzard Entertainment games and mods (real-time strategy, World of Warcraft, Defense of the Ancients, etc.).[/SIZE']
Now, Defense of the Ancients is a WC3 scenario.
Maybe we're all wrong. Perhaps we are looking for Diablocraft not as a MMO, but as a Real-time Strategy?

I linked the article that refered to the character and I quoted it verbatim. I'm sorry you are so set on your path of "enlightenment" that you can't see past your own ego.
People move on, people stay. Whoever is working on Diablo 3 or Diablo 2 patch is not publicised; and your claims about no originals being on the team from the is baseless and not backed up by one scrap of evidence. What's more your argument is totally and completely pointless. Who even cares if there aren't any originals left? If Hellgate London is a guide, then I am hoping they've all left.

Perhaps, Shere. But then in what way would it be a sequel, why would this page exist, and why would you, for one, care about the game in the first place?

That really is such a silly question. Blizzard own the copyright and IP on the first 2. Chris is still there so there should be a measure of consistency, they have been working hard on lore continuity lately, hence the lore changes recently.
A lot of things have changed. Computers have changed a lot. Games and the internet have changed a lot. Blizzard has far more money and a much bigger name; they can afford to get amazing artists and designers. The code from D2 needs to be changed completely to allow much better online interation and some proof against hackers. They need to revamp the gameplay considerably to meet vastly different expectations.
This is why you can whinge all you want about changing the programmers (which yet again you still haven't come up with the goods on), but in reality people need to change if the franchise is to grow and not just stay the same.
Besides, a lot of the original Devs went on to create Hellgate London so I'm kind of glad that they aren't making it. Even if every developer at Blizzard decided to leave and they had to get a completely new team you could still be sure that Diablo 3 would be amazing as Blizzard don't release average games. They have built up a name for themselves for doing just this for over ten years and they wouldn't just throw it away under any circumstances.
So, for the sake of argument, let's say that you guys are correct - the original artists, animators, designers, programmers, audio guys etc are all irrelevant. What matters is the existing IP, the record of management and the overwhelming resources which allow whole new teams to be staffed with the best and brightest. I can think of only one announced project where this theory was recently tested - Ghost. What happened with that game?
A) SC: Ghost was cancelled because of a marketing decision; the game was going to be released on old console hardware which didn't make sense.
You can fire the entire team for all I care - the thing that matters is the consistent leadership at Blizzard. Mike Morhaime, Frank Pearce, Paul Sams, Metzen, etc. etc. They're the ones that call the shots and they're the ones that shape what Diablo is going to look like.

You sir are incorrect!
Starcraft: Ghost has NOT been CANCELLED!!!
It however has been put on indefinate hold, can't believe some people think its cancelled... If you read the Blizz cancelled games list you would of known.

That cancelled games list doesn't include every game that's been cancelled. For example: Blizzard North was working on 2 unannounced projects in 2003 when they had their exodus. One of them was cancelled yet it most definitely wasn't on that list.
Indefinite hold means they aren't working on it, so whatever.
It's sure is easy to get confused. At the mmorpg.com blog zergwatch refers to the job posting talking about the diablo 1 and 2 team looking for a level designer with understanding of online competetive play. His first thought is that they might just be trying to revamp the pvp in wow. ???????
Although I agree that wow needs a lot of help in the pvp area it seems more likely they're talking about a new game. Whatever.
Second, who is this "team behind diablo 1 and 2"? Every tom dick and harry you talk to says that team left and made hellgate [cough, sputter, hack!]. So who is this diablo team that you see listed in blizzard job ads and why would they refer to them as such if they were just talking about jobs related to wow or another non-diablo game? Is it just that the wow team is on the existing wow and the diablo guys, with nothing else to do, are on the new stuff? Help me, I'm sinking.

What would they have put on the list? "2 Unannounced Games"? No, it includes every game that had a working title. Those unannounced games you were speaking of were probably still in the perliminary stages and didn't even have a title picked out yet, sometimes that doesn't come until most of the work is done.
That list, therefore, includes every single game that had a title and was announced at some point or other. Therefore, since SC:G was a working title (and further more was said to be temporarily post poned by Blizzard in any case), it was not, is not, and most likely will not be cancled, considering the amount of fan hype about it.
However, all of this is completely irrelevant to the topic of this thread

I seriously doubt they'd bring in the designers of Diablo's hostility system to help with a WoW revamp of PvP, since (and nearly everyone will admit this) Diablo's PvP system sucked ass. Period.

The entire team did not leave. Blizzard North just lost a majority of prime programmers and such. Blizzard still has all the lore, and is obviously working on it in their new books. They are also highering for a ton of positions for the Diablo team right now; if you looked around the forums you would have noticed that
There is no evidence that suggests that the Diablo team is on new stuff, nor is there evidence against it, really. Until the title is confirmed, and the team working on it is confirmed with the title, nothing can really be said about it. It would be stupid to say that the "Diablo team" is working on a completely different game, though, especially since all of the employment ads say specifically the team that created the Diablo universe. If they were going to higher for a new game universe, they would probably say that in the employment ad, or at least not say that they are employing for a team that's made a game universe in the past. The Diablo team, I'd logically assume, maintains Diablo and Diablo only.

I agree. I bet Blizzard is laughing so hard that no one understands this, even though they say the team behind Diablo I and II.

You seem a bit confused in your post. If Blizzard has hired a ton of new employees into the Diablo team then I can personally guarantee that they are not just maintaining the original 2 diablo's, or even just doing a special patch.
The diablo team is most likely team 3, which is definitely working on a new project anyhow.

'Unannounced' doesn't mean they didn't have a title... And you're assuming that the list included only games with formal titles. Oh, and you're assuming that the 2 games were in preliminary stages. Way too many assumptions.

Not to mention that the purported "2 games" reference is probably based on nothing more than unsourced original research from a wikipedia page.
