I'm not sure if I can pick one of those things on the list, I'm interested in the game as a whole.
By the way, "wind" in diablo 2 is physical damage. (tornado/twister)
I think you might be right about hurricane being half cold and half "wind" (or physical) because corpse explosion is the exact same way... half fire half physical (is there an exploding corpse element?)
Earth came with the Druid in a very minimal form. There was no air element, you must be thinking of Poison. Curses would be considered unholy, while hammers, I think, or holy bolt, would be considered holy. Shadow Disciplines are mind disciplines, not magic, since the assassins were opposed to using magic. Water doesn't seem like much of a damaging element, maybe healing, I guess, but I always laugh when I see something like "Bubbles" or "Water Ball"- how on earth could that do anything, unless it made your armor rust? You couldn't incorporate tidal waves or anything, since you'd need to be near oceans or lakes. It would be very odd
Assassins are mages!!! NERM!!!
And, you could have priests that don't just heal... Just like WoW, have Shadow spec, And Holy spec (not just healing, like half healing just to take up space... And the rest like smiting and other stuff...), and like a idk, auras + blessings + like disciplines spec... It could easily work...
Blizzard has stated some time ago that even though they pushed Diablo II pack alot, they still felt as they pushed it out a little too early.. I can see Diablo III running laps around Diablo II just with the fact that they have had a ton of time to make it.
For me, it's a close fight between character classes and skills/abilities...
These are the ones that give the game much needed replayability but I went with character classes.
Reason being is that I wouldn't want to play the same old classes like D2's Barb, Pally, Necro, etc... If they have a melee combat damage dealer, I want them to call him something else and should look different from the Barb...
If you're basing this off their ability to use Shadow Disciplines, then you're wrong, although you'd be wrong anyway. SD's aren't true magic. Their traps employ magic, but the Viz-Jaq'taar maintain that they themselves are not the source of the magic, only the mechanism, thus limiting their chances of being tempted to the Dark Arts, demonic magic.
Knowing that such an order might itself be corrupted if exposed to the power of magic, the Vizjerei deemed it of the utmost importance that these Assassins maintain the purest, most focused minds. They should live in meditation and draw their power from within, not from external forces that could easily mask demonic interference. To this end, the Order would not employ the magic arts directly; rather, they would use ingenious devices and enchanted items to battle those possessing great magical powers. To further their campaign against demonic corruption, they concentrated on honing the natural martial abilities of their bodies, both physical and mental.
well for me its all the story, graphics, char. class etc all

Storyline ftw. Gameplay is a close second. These are what Diablo is about if I don't hear *click click clickity click* I tend to get bored with a game, but the storyline for Diablo is amazing. I know when Diablo 3 does come out I will read the entire manual at least once before thinking about putting the disc in my comp
Killing monsters, collecting items... all Diablo's about, actually.
Sorry to break it to you, but that has more to do with laziness and lack of patience.
Actually it has nothing to do with laziness or patience but comfort. The brightest star in the sky thing was actually a joke. You Know hee hee haa haa type stuff?:D

Hmm, its a tough one, but i'd say skills and abilities, to see how my favorite playstyle, summoner, might work in d3, although its about time i played another hack'n'slash rpg.
IN certain instances, especially in education, they are the same thing.
When did we start talking about education? I thought we were on the topic of video games. And when it comes to education I have my doctorate in communication, thank you.

My 2 cents...

Yupp, I can proudly say I own a copy of every piece of lore except the D&D manuals.
p.s. and i'll probably buy the archive to have a hard copy of demonsbane lol

I never played Diablo 2 single player once. Online was the way to go.
Storyline is a close second.
