I don't want the graphics section to become off-topic with the music, so I made this thread. I would prefer if any guitar for a calm acoustic guitar, and definitely not eectric. I believe that the music shouldn't be futuristic if Diablo 3 takes place in the same time.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Diablo II music was decent, but not as great. Act I, II, and IV were the best in my opinion. Still lacked the creepy screams and sounds from Diablo I's music.
I still prefer heXen music... Diablo music I kinda never noticed much of it. The tristram theme is probably the only exception. All other times I disabled it and put something faster on.
I could go for a few nice acoustic scores here and there but what about the cutscenes, they should have a faster pace, like something apocalyptica would play.
I liked the music in diablo1 espehsally the Tristam music. I loved that alot better than the diablo2 music.

I think that most people would say that Diablo 2 was a better game than Diablo, but personally I don't think it matched the atmosphere of the first game.
The music in that game was awesome, the Trisram town theme is just legendary, probably the greatest piece of music to be written for a fantasy game (arguably any game) and the contrast of that to entering the dungeon is nothing short of stunning. King Leoric's chamber, The Butcher's room and Lazarus' lair wouldn't have been the same without the superb music that accompanied them. The Catacombs, with the sounds of babies crying, atmosphere just isn't made in games like that anymore (the only game that comes close of recent times is Bioshock). I still play Diablo to this day, more than the sequel, and it's primarliy down to the music which creates such an intense and creepy atmosphere and I cannot think of another game that rivals it. The Thief games come close, and to be fair The Cradle level in Thief:Deadly Shadows probably surpasses it but that is the only game that comes close.
The Diablo series is blessed with a decent storyline, amazing bad guys/nemesis, unprecedented replayability and a groundbreaking role-playing and character levelling system, but to me that will always come second to the unique atmosphere that the games create, particularly in the first game.
I'll undoubtebly be happy with any version of Diablo 3 that is released, as Blizzard only release good games, but if they can re-create the atmosphere of the first game then I'll be playing it 20 years from now. I think that they will succeed in nailing the look (I have faith and don't think they will make it look anything like WOW (not that I don't love the look of WOW, it works well in the Warcraft universe)) and the sounds, but the big question for me is whether they can match the music of the first game, as they didn't in Diablo 2. If they can do that then I'll be fucking delirious.
Incidentally I thought the music in Diablo 2 was great compared to most games, but it didn't match up to the music in Diablo.

And this song also be very nice in it, I think.
This subject is actually one I've thought about extensively, and I've got a lot of other examples of what I've got in my head.
I would really like a full orchestra though, gets a lot more power behind the music and can set the mood better.
I will look around for some examples.
Here are some creepy soundtracks just imagine going through a dark dungeon with this music and screams in the background.

Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
i could actually imagine both of these being in a diablo soundtrack, moreso with the first one though
