The splashscreen at the top of Blizzcon specifically shows characters from WoW, SC2, and Diablo, but none from WarCraft (I know Blood Elves are inded from WC, but this one looks WoW specific).
Is Blizzard hinting at the themes of the event? Probably not, but it's at least interesting (to me).

ANAHEIM, California--On the question of expanding World of Warcraft, the question wasn't "if," it was "when." Said "when" was today. At BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment's annual expo, the VU Games-owned developer-publisher officially announced its immensely popular massively multiplayer role-playing game is getting an add-on.
It was released January 2007.
If WOW should have an expansion "every year" (or even 2), an "official" announcement can still mean over a year until it is released.
Therefore, it is more likely a WOW expansion gets announced rather than D3. It would be more likely to be "ready" first" as opposed to the new D3... Besides, has Blizzard ever had three ANNOUNCED projects going at one time??
Sucks, but D3 could be 3 years away (even if announced "next year", then it is released 1 year later)
they are going to showcase all of their past, present and future projects.
While I considered the same thing, I simply found it interesting that they didn't include WarCraft and had a "new" looking Diablo-esque figure in the picture. It's a very up-to-date image with the new Protoss, SC2 guy, Blood Elf art, etc. Seems like the image is more than just a cut-and-paste conglomerate of Blizz's projects.

PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Well, I reckon it doesn't look anything like the Diablo from D2.....
But hey - who care what crap is on the banner. It's the content of BlizzCon that counts for me.
All the WoW people get is a lousy expansion pack.
Diablo fans get a brand new game with new 3D art.
If that red creature IS Diablo then it has to be a sneak peak from D3 as it doesn't match any of the wallpapers or art on the Blizzard site!

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
What was that about no Warcraft being in the image?

The Warcraft series of games are different from World of Warcraft. I suggest reading more and/or thinking more when you find yourself opting to post with the "im smrtr thn u" tone

Diablo does arguably look the same as in D2 on the banner, but I have to agree that it is different. The design for the WoW-characters and the Starcraft 2 characters all fit into the theme those games have, so perhaps it is a slight hint.

While I must admit that my own stupidity got me here, it wasn't because of the reason brought forth. I assumed that no one here recognizes WoW characters when they see them, which was an absurd thought.
But whether or not you personally classify WoW as a Warcraft game doesn't matter. Blizzard considers WoW part of the Warcraft Universe (and why shouldn't they?) and so do I, and in talking with people about Warcraft, assume that they do not make a separation, because then everyone will understand you clearly (including me :)).

This line of thought is definitely valid. I guess not including actual Warcraft images would be the same as them not including, say, SC-1 images, seeing that WoW (included) and SC2 (included) can be/are continuations of WC/SC1.

Precisely. Now if this holds true, Diablo must be either from D2 or D3, and I am (sadly) willing to bet that he is indeed from D2, for one reason.
He still has his Soulstone in his head, yet in D2 it was destroyed in the ending cinematic, and the Prime Evils don't need the stones merely to exist. Now the real question: Is there an way to disreagard that fact so that we can crate an illusion for ourselves that D3 will be announced at Blizzcon?

Well I plan to suspend reality and logical thinking entirely. I'll grasp at any hint - onwards to BlizzCon!
