I cant even say how ppl would hate the game if it comes with a cheat u.u`
And I kno is not a crime to cheat in a single player, but i cant imagine how stupid the game would be if you install it and can put your charatcter at lvl99 if any item any time you won`t.
Yeah, you`re really weird.
Just reading a post where Bashiok answered a number of questions, and stated that blizzard has never supported mods for d2 and doesn't intend to for d3... C
I know diablo 2 never had any "official" blizzard mod support or tools for modding, the game was left very open ended to modding if you knew what you were doing and the modding community built on that... 1.10 expanded on this and made it A LOT easier to mod and add to virtually every aspect of Diablo 2 but there were also dozens of fan-made 3rd party plugins created including a map editor over the years, which helped make many mods possible such as Eastern Sun, Return to Hellfire, Merdian, and my own Hell Unleashed.
So what will lack of support mean for the possability of modding in D3? And why will Blizzard not support mods for Diablo?
TQ has a map editor, Sacred 2 will have a quest/world editor, why is Blizzard not jumping on this band waggon when they've proved that not only can they make some of the best games, but also some of the most user friendly and powerful means of modding... The WC3 world editor stands out in my head as an achievment far greater then the toolsets realeased with NWN1 & 2... These games that were essentially based entirly around their editors. We know you could do the same for Diablo 3!
So why is D3 not utilizing the potential? Why is the Diablo modding community the red headed step child of Blizzard when the SC and WC modding communities get all the perks while we're getting no support from the developers, essentially ignored? It's really disheartening and makes me lose a lot of hype for a game I've been waiting for, for a long time when I hear that... There were some fantastic mods created for Diablo 2 that were only made possible by Blizzards "unnofficial" support and the dedicated fan-based that unlocked all the knowledge over many years and went as far as to creating there own programs. And that has kept A LOT of people playing Diablo 2. I myself would have left soon after I played through 1.10... But I went on to create Hell Unleashed because it was possible and enjoyable... It kept my interest in the game.
So obviously they have no plans for any world editor or official modding tools for Diablo 3 at this point? Could this change?... Or does this mean when D3 is released, it'll essentially be back to square one again and we will have to do what we did for Diablo 2 and spend three or four years before we even have the knowledge, plugins, community and 1.10ish patch before we can create good mods? Because the entire modding community of D2 wants to see a step forward in modding come Diablo 3... not a step backwards and back to square one.
I'm just trying to get a bit more insight here because the view on D3 modding has been rather vague. Originally it was said that official modding support or a world editor for D3 would be hard due to it's random nature but not a flat out "no" , nothing has been heard in that area since then... But now Bashiok stated blizzard has no intention of supporting mods for D3..
1.) So what will lack of support mean for modding in D3 and the modding community that is eagerly awaiting this sequel as much as anyone? 2.) Are we pretty much screwed? 3.) Why is Blizzard not interested in supporting mods in D3 when many games of this genre are doing so? It would greatly expand the life-span of this game and gives us modders a reason to stick around. When people get bored of Diablo 3, they will move to mods, if those don't exsist, they go to another game...
I've seen the arguements against why there shouldn't be any official tools or help, but all of those arguements have strong counter arguements, that are in my opinion much more thought out and detailed then the typical ignorant "people will use such tools to exploit on battle.net" ... obviously that would never happen.
I have no gripes about having to wait to mod for Diablo 3 for awhile... Obviously I'm going to be playing the game how it was created until I'm bored of it and the next expansion comes along, but none of us want to have to wait 4 years after it's released to be able to do the same things to it that we can do to Diablo 2 today.
Um, they NEVER stated that anywhere, post a link or a source, don't make crap up... hacking and modding have nothing to do with one another. Your statement is very ignorant. a world editor or modding tools or support for modding does not make it any easier or harder to hack.
They have stated no solid reasons at all behind their lack of support so don't "pretend" you read that somewhere if you can't post proof of that
they wont support mods, the only games i really now that support mods a free roaming rpg's(elderscrolls) and i dont think any game company will support modding for a online game

NWN and NWN2.
In my opinion all games are open to the mod community. Just look at the countless nude hacks for MMOs, all have been asked to cease and desist and Blizzard even took measures to stop it. They just find a way to work around it, and no one ever gets banned because of it.
Yeah I hope Blizzard changes their mind, really there's no reason not to support modding officially. Their randomness argument is extremely vague, I don't see how the random nature can prevent from modding effectively considering that the mayority of levels from D2 were randomnly generated and we have great mods for it.
Anyway, if at the end there's only unofficial support I hope you guys don't get too discouraged so we fans can enjoy Hell Unleashed and Median for D3 some day.

Whatever you say hacker. They already said there would be no world edit options for cheating reasons.
I think they're speaking about not just Mods, but Addons as well, and more so for those. People will mod the game one way or the other. I believe they're saying they're not going to be using the system WoW has for allowing changes made to the UI.
That's my 2cp

FPS'es... most RTS have map editors, and so does TQ, and other games are at least "mod friendly".
In warcraft. i remember they supplied u with a World Editor. It was cool if u knew how 2 use it. but, of course it made no god damn sense to me. Didnt know how to work Sh**. U could create games for b.net. It was cool.

Um, that's your problem, not the editor's. Most people that do mods have no problem figuring out how editors work, and WC3's is not even a complex one... >_<

Don't want it - don't use it.
freakin nerds gifted with computer intelligence. LOL. hehehe. We albanians have to learn the hard way. :D:)
Dude it's kinda hard to make an editor for Diablo 3, the only thing I think think of that they can do easily is to make a map editor with alot of the models.

No they didn't, don't make stuff up.
I think I can see where they are coming from, while D2 relied on tiles, D3 is obviously a LOT more complex in its placement of architecture, each dungeon set must have a set of rules to decide where parts can be placed so they all fit together. I don't know how they would have set it up, but I can guarantee it will be a LOT more complex than D2.
THe only map editor I could ever use was the one in Heroes of Might and Magic 3 The Shadow of Death.

For those who didn't pay attention they already addressed this in the initial announcement at WWI in the audience Q&A...
"Q: Will there be a map editor?
A: We haven't nailed specifics but the Diablo series isn't very friendly to mods, mostly due to the random nature of the game. It's not a big focus of ours. But we haven't decided."
They have not stated anything saying that they are against modding. They just are not going to support people who do wish to mod.
Whats the problem here, some guy makes a mod and changes how the game works, so what? Last time I checked you had to also have that mod for it to affect your game. Don't want that mod, don't download it.
Least that's how it works with every game I play, Warcraft II, Warcraft III, Baldur's Gate II, Neverwinter Nights.
