Cain dies, but he is the one who saves the unkown heroes ass in the final battle of heaven and hell. The unkown hero is surrounded by many foes that want to rip his flesh off and wear it as armor, but then out of nowhere, Deckard Cain arrives, killing all the demons in the unkown hero's path to Diablo. As Cain gives his last advice to the hero, Diablo strikes him from behind, and leaves Deckard Cain's body motionless on the ground. Enraged by his long friend's death, the hero goes on a rampage killing everything around him till he reaches Diablo. The future of the world comes down to one last epic battle between good and evil...Will you defeat evil at last?
Haha got kinda carried away there, but it sounds pretty kool though.

Hmm He Dies, he gets circled by demons while in a waste land, makes a useless last stand with an old sword but is cut down. Laterthe Hero finds him, cain looks at the hero, gurgles blood and dies.
Well, if you look closely, they killed off Fenix, then brought him back, then killed him again.
Duke, he wasn't a caracter, he was cardboard with a tape recorder.
Overmind, I'll give you that.
Cain Turns into a hippo and gets hit by an on coming train and then rolls down a hill and into a ball pit with little kids who he then touches in places he shouldnt and gets called a perverted old man
what else?
but on serious note, i want him to die. he's been around too long.

"You are like a rose in a great rose field. Each rose is so beautiful to me. But if one dies... I can still look at many other roses..." God of Darkness.
I think he should die, but we don't know how or why untill the fourth game comes out, in which we find out that all through the series Cain was the mastermind all along. We then find out that Cain didn't really die, and in the fourth game's expansion we have to fight Cain and it's the hardest fight in the entire series. Upon defeating Cain you find out that Cain is really the father of Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto. Then, in the ending scene, you see Diablo, who escaped barely at the end of his battle, with Cain's skull. In the fifth game, when we get to Diabo, we find him performing some insane ritual with Cain's skull, attempting to bring him back stronger then ever. We go after Diablo, but then Mephisto jumps infront of us with dual swords. The battle is fierce, but eventually we win, and we jump Diablo, but we are too late and he finishes a moment before we jump him. Cain opens a rift into space and time, traveling back before Diablo 1 (where Diablo six will occur). With Diablo's final words before he dies forever, he curses your name. You don't think twice about it as you jump through the rift, entering into Diablo six. In Diablo six, you have to find the soul stone of Diablo before he can take over the Prince's mind. However Cain shows up and stops you, allowing Diablo time to take over the Prince's mind. Cain escapes and you escape the church with amnesia, only to return upon hearing the evil of Diablo as the cloaked warrior.
Edit:Mind you, I came up with this off the top of my head. If I had time to think it would be better...
Gandalf the grey reminds me of a kick ass song.
