Improvements to battle.net might allow more integrated "guild" type functions, there aren't many things I'd like to see imported from wow, but the guild chat/bank etc. systems if done right could be really cool features.

Pretty much.
Also, to the people that are voting "no": Just because a guild system is implemented, that doesn't mean people are going to start having guild titles on top of their names or something.
Hell, Blizzard could even make it virtually impossible to see if someone is in a guild or not, if they wanted to.
Players will want some sort of recognition of what clan they are in though. I remember players would have to roll entirely new characters in order to have the clan tag in their name. I agree with not having a big clan name above my head, but there should be tags as in Guild Wars (i.e. Joe Hostile [rawr]). The tag changes when you change clans rather than having to reroll a character.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
I really dont know of any, but as a retired Leader of caln TE in D2. I would definatly start up a new one about a month before the games release and get some honest D3 lovers into the clan....

Return to the roots of the game to discover what D3 truly needs to be the only new-age action-RGP since D2.
How would you all feel about having guild halls in Diablo 3? With the recent revelations of where Blizzard intends commerce to go, do you think that adding this kind of gold sink would be beneficial to the players that are interested in joining guilds/clans? At least one function for a guild hall could be the housing of a trading post, not like an auction house really, but guild members could put up their items on a vendor-like character and have anyone join in a visitor section to peruse items at their own leisure.
A guild or clan channel would serve similar purpose, although certainly not as visually stimulating. I kind of like the idea of a shared stash among members. Mail system??
I am 99.9% certain that blizz was talking about guildhalls for diablo2, but dropped it because of production time. And I am 100% certain I was looking for it once the news of LoD reached me.
I am hoping that they add all those things that they did not get into diablo 2. Guild halls, guild battles almost like the battlegrounds for WoW. I guess though that WoW took alot more resources in production than d3 ever will. I will not be dissapointed, but it would be a cool addition.
Since I am one of those not sure if I will play this game at all at the moment, I will not sign a petition, if someone thinks that democracy could work.

Perhaps the implausibility of its own existence makes the skeleton think it hilarious to hide in a barrel, cackling intermittently for some three hundred years until a victim happens by?

There should be some kind of clan/guild system so there wouldn't be need to have weird clan tags in your characters name and your account. If the systems is there they could add all kinds of nice features for battle.net. A clan listing, with their own chat rooms. Clan ladders and such.
They were going to put clan feature in D2 but because it kept getting pushed back it got cut so that they could release the game (along with arenas and a guild bank like feature if I remember correctly). So I think they will put a good clan system.
As for skills, I can see it both ways. When D2 came out I tried to create a sorceress who's main attack was inferno. After awhile I realized that it wasn't such a smart idea. This would have been a nice time to get some skill points back. Also if you give the ability to redistribute skill points, it would make the normal play through more fun if you don't have to horde your skill points for the core or real skills for your nightmare and hell play through.
However, I do like a system that rewards players for planning ahead and for sacrificing some skills now so that you have a better character later. Really it comes down to the casual versus hardcore approach.
This might be blaspheme but I think D3 should move toward a City of Heroes ability system where as the game moves on you get more abilities but you never really stop using your old abilities. Then those skill points you but in early abilities don't feel wasted.
Speaking of clans
what are some guess of characters we can use when making our clan tags? In Diablo i think there was a much wider selection like () [] but in D2 there was only - or something.

If your insane, but still sane enough to know it, are you insane or sane?
You can't spell slaughter without laughter.
