yes but remember this chars are suppose to be equally capable of defeating the game in single player. a healer with blint weapons? no, clerics do not belong in this game.
You can most definately have a character with healing spells, but if all you had were healing spells, how would you win a game if all you ever do is heal yourself and never attack?
You need a character like a Paladin that can heal AND attack. Or in other words, just bring the Paladin back.
Yeah, after thinking about it, a cleric probably wouldn't be a good class in diablo becuase the game is a little too fast paced. But clerics do have fighting skills too, they dont just heal... They could have mace mastery and maybe a spell like Enchant, only with like holy magic. And they got the bomb ass spell Turn Undead. Anyway i think that Blizz could manipulate them to make a good class.
a cleric;
has healing spells, can summon devas, raise the dead comrades, animate dead corpses of enemies, has spells that raise his armor and damage, turn undead, summon aerial servants, has a few protective magic spells like fire/lightning shields, can call upon the wrath of his deity to smite his enemies,
only DND clerics cant use bladed weapons
well last time i checked

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
lol come on guys. Its so much more smarter to just bring back the Paladin and Nercromancer. They utilize all these abilities that you want in a way better way.
plus these chars are already balanced to solo or teamup or duel or whatever.
How the hell you going to build a Cleric to duel its just a waste of time if they already have Builds such as the Paladin and Necromancer.
since when have you seen Someone get owned continuesly in a duel from a paladin heals?
since when have you seen someone get owned continously in a duel from a necromancers summons?
just bring back the Paladin and Necromancer, so much more diversity within the classes and balanced issues are already taken care of.
I understand your stance. But I'm personally sick and tired of Paladins and Necromancers. Infact tired of all the classes. Bringing back the same characters is going to get old. And Fast too.
New classes is a given for a new game. And I think thats what most Diablo fans would expect from a new game.
Hell, have characters with similar strengths and traits from the characters of Diablo 2 but leave some significant differences.
Well not allowing chars to solo hell would ruin Single Player so, thats a no-no.
But I agree with you guys in trading off characters, to make it seem more like a new game. Although if you are goign to bring in all new chars dont have them imitating the previous ones, because thats lame.
Which would you rather have?
The Old Diablo2 Characters Brought Back with A new Look and Added Skills?
or
New Characters Brought in (new names, different look obviously) With the same skills?
well let me help you in deciding.... If blizzard says that they will have all new characters in the game I believe we all would be thinking "NEW" characters. not old dogs with the same tricks, its so misleading.
Id rather have all d2 characters Return (obviously with the amazing graphics change since the release of d2 untill now the characters will all look entirely different).
So technically if they just bring back all the d2 chars they will look like playing new chars with the same skills because Graphics have totally changed.
***And if you cant see where im going with this Check out Counter Strike and CS:Source.***
Yeah my personal opinion, Bring back all d2 chars with added skills onto their previous ones, Add a few new characters and call it a day. If they add 3 characters onto the already 7 they have that would be a perfect blend.
Or they could just substitute some new characters in that resemble the old d2 characters; like AcidReign's Drifter
1. Barbarian ( or another warrior type hero)
2. Paladin (or another healing party leader that utilizes auras and shit)
3. Sorc (or another char that utilizes elements soley)
4. Amazon ( or another sort of hunter, scavenger)
5. Druid ( or another shapeshifter)
6. Assasion ( Id say replace with Acid Reign's Drifter)
7. Necromancer ( or another summoner type hero)
8. Angel
9. Fallen Angels
10. Enigma ( a char that can mimic others abilities and can use telekinetic powers that grasps their foes)
but i think they should keep all characters as is except for Asassin. Just replace that char with The Drifter.
I understand your stance. But I'm personally sick and tired of Paladins and Necromancers.
Yes I know what you mean, we've already played them, get them out of the way and move on to other characters in the game. Well, in a certain scenario that Diablo has cannot completely void out the Paladin. The Paladin is part of the Zakarum faith, and you cannot erase an important aspect of the game such as that. However, you can change the character:
The Vindicator.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With the fall of the Zakarum temples in the far east, many of the Paladins and devout worshipers of the faith have become more aggressive in their pursuit for redemption. Stronger willed than the Paladins, the Vindicators look to prepare for battle against the enemy of the Light. While they have no armorers to make armor for them as nice as the Paladins', they are forced to use abandoned and salvaged armor, often found during raids and small battles, but they use it with as much vigor as they possibly can.
Evil Smiting Skills: With their pursuit for redemption, the Vindicators must defeat evil, and lots of it. With Evil Smiting skills, the Vindicator has many skills to focus on the demons and undead roaming the world. An example skill includes Lightstrike, which hits an enemy with a strong ray of holy energy. A few skills are passive, and add bonuses to melee attacks.
Battlefield Skills: The Vindicator is primarily a melee fighter, and these skills are beneficial for the Vindicator's melee assault. A few skills include auras, such as the Aura of Rage and the Aura of Destruction.
Healing and Protection Skills: The Vindicator has the knowledge to heal himself after battle, as well as protect himself from some aspects of evil. The Vindicator also can heal members of his party, but his protection skills only apply to him. Some healing skills are passive, and add life-leach and bleeding to some attacks.
Theyll change it, its not going to be the same black guy lookin paladin. They changed the d2 sorc from the d1 sorc i doubt theyd bring just the same 7character classes with the same look.
Just changing the gender of characters gives fans insentive to buy the game(though not a big one), because no one wants to see the same old shit.
I'm gonna compile a list of characters I think they should have in Diablo III. It may take me some time, but I think my ideas may spark some other ideas. Just give me a few days and I'll have a solid list down.
mariospeedwagon is off his rocker... same characters? wtf? Dumbest thing i've ever heard
same chars plus a handful additions. Id rather have returning chars with a couple new ones than All new chars that just copy the same moves the other diablo2 chars had.
Because if blizzard tells me all new chars, i Expect it to all be new. Not rip-offs of previous characters. and since the other characters were so solid balance wise and skill wise, why change? Just add to that.
so in essence you are off your rocker for saying i am.
