The Drifter is a character from an unknown origin, and prefers to travel by shadows to stalk and murder its unexpecting prey. The Drifter is an enigmatic character, usually cloaked in dark robes, and it roams the night reading from it's worn tome. The Drifter has been rarely spotted, but it's three main skill trees have been discovered.
Trapping Skills: Unlike the Assassin, these trapping skills unclude the use of underground spikes, arrowed booby traps, and at higher levels, enchanted mines and sentries.
Draining Skills: The Drifter has multiple skills that have been categorized as draining skills. These skills include passive skills that apply to the traps to cause bleeding, life steal, and/or mana steal. Other skills that do not apply to the traps are curse-like rituals that manipulates the enemy in a degenerate way.
Nocturnal Magic: These magic skills are most powerful when used in the night hours*, enhancing their abilities to full potential. Skills include some summoning of dark spirits, along with some dark magic skills which can heavily damage the enemy when skill points are invested.
i dont know if this has been said yet, (because there are like 85 pages) but what about a cleric? I mean most games have clerics in them... Also, like most of the other characters in Diablo, its a class from Dungeons and Dragons and it hasn't been used yet. Just want to throw that out there.
question: what the fuck is a cleric and what does it do? im guessing its just going to resemble an already existent character class in diablo2, but you never know.
one of the reasons i like diablo is becasue its unique and original. Every other game in the world lets you play as an orc, elf, undead, etc. Diablo should be purley humans, theyre should be no factions. If you want factions and different races play WoW, I want to play diablo and be a human who choses hell or heaven. Also to comment on the ninjas idea, i seemed skeptical at first but when it was explained to me it made alot of sence. In diablo 2, act 2= middle east, act 3= south america, act 5= europe, to expand the diablo world you would need to add asia and ninjas/samurai would be the classes in that area
A Cleric is a healer primarily, but also has fighting skills. They are either good clerics or evil clerics. They can turn the undead with the power of their deity. Its probably the best support class because they usually have skills that bulk up other characters along with themselves. They weild maces or any other bludgeoning weapons. Diablo 3 could throw in some cool skills for them too.
there is a shapeshifter, the druid. There is a party leader that bulks people up and heals them, hes called the paladin. You guys are doing it again.
how many times do i have to say it?

and to the goof that said diablo2 is suppose to take place in South America, Europe, mIddle east i think you need to relize you are wrong. This is a made up world my friend. And adding asia and china and any other oriental country to be fighting through the streets of tokyo and beijing and shit its utterly retarded.
Yay lets fight diablo in China with chinamen riding their bikes through the streets. Can you all just refrain from giving your dumbass ideas? please for the love of god.
I think it would be interesting to add special attacks to w/e the character classes might be. Sort of like in street fighter or mortal kombat with very powerful and visually appealing attack finishers, with a substantial recharge phase

i dont recall anyone saying diablo 2 took place in those areas, i recall people saying the acts where 'influenced' by those areas, but never were those areas.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
You know how Diablo always said how he wanted to travel "into the east"? Well take a look at the map of Sanctuary in your Diablo II manual. What do you notice about the eastern part of the map? It's quite obvious:
There is more to be discovered.
Perhaps Diablo's journey was cut short. Perhaps there were more mysteries to be revealed, quests to undertake, and characters to discover.
didnt know they had a map of the diablo universe...wow yeah there is a lot still left to be discovered. Which means easier ways to come up with a story for it wont break anything already been set.
Maybe there are "realm stones" or something in the far east that allow transportation to the High Heavens and the Burning Hells. Maybe Diablo wanted to gain an army in Hell and bring them to the stones as soon as Baal had the Worldstone under control. It would be a one-two punch for the Prime Evils.
No-one knows what D3 will be about but the rumours were that it was based in heaven and hell. Who knows, but the first diablo did have a European influenced setting and by the looks of the Diablo II Acts i wouldn't be suprised if they didn't used the Amazon and Sahara Desert for area ideas.
But if the next game does go to heaven and hell it would be cool if it was the best and last installment because sometimes dragging out a series can ruin things. Plus it would be the perfect setting for a finale

true very true.
well honestly i wouldnt mind revisting diablo2 places just redone. they could also just say the Prime Evils trying to take over the human realm was a distraction while on the amazon islands or somewhere else they were building waypoints that allowed travel from hell into earth and then from earth into heaven. Because of this it allows the prime evils back into earth/heaven because when they were killed they just return to hell right?
dont want to read all 51 pages, but, can there be a cleric class? cleric for good side, uhh... evil healer for bad side? thatd be tight. going along the lines of eq2 could there also be a scout class? really quick attacks. dont do as much, but are faster, and maybe can hide in shadows or something?
I like the idea of a Drifter. Sounds cool. More importantly sounds like it's from the Diablo world. Cleric sounds interesting too. I think we should keep an open mind about the new characters. I bet there are more races and cultures that Blizzard can build on. Maybe Diablo 2 didn't completely explored the whole world? Who knows. I know someone mentioned that above.
