It seemed like Crusaders had a great build/playstyle that harkened back to the Zeal Pally of D2... I thought it was a lot of fun to play, and I thought that it was pretty well balanced with the other classe's power builds.. I think the top on PTR was an 84.. all the other classes were around 80 as well.. Except Wiz, who is at 118.
It just seemed like an unneccessary hard nerf to a really fun build/playstyle that did not exist in the game prior to this build. I dont understand why they hit it so hard... Why not take Thorns passive to 80% or 75% and leave the thorns gem alone.. Its just sad that they destroy a build/playstyle like this after they really did a good job of getting it right. Its things like this that keep your D3 gaming community unhappy Blizz.
i think what a lot of people fail to understand is that the PTR is meant to test all of the changes, not just which ones are most broken. Blizzard however understands that people are just going to play the best build. So in order to make all of this time running the PTR not a waste of time, they are trying to cycle out which sets are at the top to get a better idea of where the sets at the bottom need to be. So what likely happens is when they feel they've gotten the data they want about a top build they nerf it so others can rise up instead and they can get data on that build, then when the patch actually releases hopefully most builds they tinkered with are going to be relatively close in power, and they have a firm idea of where to nerf/buff builds if they need to later. This is potentially why thorns didn't stay at the top long, it's not a very complicated build and there were almost no mechanical adjustments to be made, just numbers tuning, so they knocked it out so that they could test other sader builds. In contrast to firebirds, which has clearly proven that number changes aren't enough to keep it down, so they are looking at other ways of changing it, hence why firebirds has been at the top for a while.
although real talk, what exactly about the changes to firebirds did I miss that suddenly put them up to doing 125 rifts? I thought the last patch nerfed them? What am I missing here?
Lot's of nerfs are coming from LoN abuse. Personally i think LoN might give more bad than good to the game. They just nerfed bombardment thorns rune to the ground because of LoN. This skill was already not so great for thorns sader, now it's completly useless. Dunno how good is thorn's sader atm, but changes looks really scary.

Its PTR wait. Nothing has been nerfed or buffed. Its not out.
Crusaders were doing 150 before and still were on top besides bugged Wiz atm.
Just wait for them to completely flesh it out. They over nerf/buff things to intentionally see what players lean towards and use at the higher rifts.
I take it you weren't following the PTR pre-change when Crusaders were GR 100!
P.s. PTR stands for Public Test Realm. People talking about nerfs and breaking builds in the PTR (N.B. "new" builds) should realise this.
It was around GR 87, and no, it wasnt with thorns, it was with LoN, and 2800 para.
