Hey guys, today I briefly explain the new cube recipe coming next patch - Caldesann's Despair. I show how it works, including what appears to be a bug or poor design. Enjoy & discuss!
With the Ancient requirement, I assume the answer to this question will be no, but do you think it would ever be worthwhile to reroll the main stat on an item into skill damage and just use Caldesann's Despair for the only source of main stat? So for instance you might have a helm with Vit, CC, Skill%, Socket.
You question is valid even without Caldesann. I mean at infinite paragon level, unless they change it. Mainstat worth less and less, and skill damage, or are damage, or life%, anything, not mainstat gives more marginal toughness or damage.
For now, the answer is "NO", because what this recipe does, is lesseing the gap between low and high end paragons, by giving more mainstat, so every point of mainstat worth less. Thats the main focus of this recipe.
The second one is to let people use their gems, and so people get something more out of greater rifts, not just paragons and 1% upgrade chances.
But if you make the same questio in a year or two, without blizz changing the paragon system. Well yes, it would be worth it for many people.
Skill damage on helm, area damage on gloves instead of mainstat, similar for jewellery, even weapons...
It doesn't really lessen the gap though, it just adds even more power creep. Casual players with rank 50 gems will be competing hardcore players with rank 100 gems and 1000-1500 more paragon levels. Nothing changes.

There may be a diminishing return in the value of a stat point compared to another stat at higher levels in the game, but infinite paragon will always allow for power creep at end game and people will resort back to using paragon for main stat when all other options have been exhausted.
13 character * 13 items= 169 items (with extra items 200items) (bounty rift etc)
0-70 lvl gem to upgrade without loss 24 grift
24grift * 200items =4800 grift
1 grift average 12min (I know its easy to upgrade 0-55)
4800grifts * 12min =57600min
57600min / 60 =9600 hours
9600hours /24 =40 days
I think it takes 60 days
lets think
another patch 2.5
Most of the items will be garbage in 2.5
and we start again
fantastic
tnks blizz
(sorry for my english, its not good )
This is overkill though. I don't think the recipe was meant to augment everything RIGHT AWAY. I'm going to take my time and only augment the near-perfect ancients I have. For example I have a VERY well geared Fire UE DH (10/13 ancients, well rolled), so I'll be throwing the augments on him first, then as time passes and I find GG pieces for other classes, I'll augment those. I don't think there's a rush really.
