The 'shoulder pads' everyone's been complaining about are a new piece of armor to Diablo called a 'pauldron'. They have their own slot, and each type of armor has its own model, so if you don't like big bulky pauldrons, you can just keep away from them and use a version that isn't quite so bulky, or just not wear any at all. Cheers.
not using them wont prevent me from breaking my immersion as i mostly play on battle net
and huge pauldrons (along with all cartoon inherit of exagerated proportion) are in games other than wow, warhammer for example. If wow didnt exist i would still think disproprortionality sucks bad
Exactly. I don't know why people are all going "it's just like WoW". I mean, I can see where they're coming from, but it's a stupid point to make. I think if no one ever said that, they would be taking alot more seriously.
Anyway, I don't know what to think of the art direction right now, but I do know I don't like the huge pauldrons.
They're exaggerated on the Barbarian alone, I believe. Neck protection and intimidation.
Personally, i think the art direction color scheme is a little overblown. I'd like it maybe a bit darker - somewhere in the middle of the before/after screenshots that have been circulated. Not too set on it, though.
The big puffy pauldrons howevr, have to go. They look ridiculous.
If you overexaggerate the style, the game loses its horror-vibe. And that means to lose the character of the series. Surely the art directors don't think being creative means copying wow which copied japanime. Do they know what game they're making? I can accept improbably big style to an extent. But this is really too much. It's about as scary as bobble-heads (which are scary, but the wrong kind of scary).
well if they could scale them down a bit so they were proportional it would be good
Ya that might be better. I for one dont like the ammount of armor the barbarians wear. I think they just be like berserkers. Berserkers dont wear any armor at all-sometimes fighting totally naked. Maybe not totally like that but something close. I dont really know how barbarians view armor in diablo. Do they have any specific view on it?
Yea, the barbarians were known for their ruthless attacks and never known for their glorious armor, in fact they had small round wooden shields and leather jerkins , bear skins etc.

Anti-WoW people.
If WoW didn't exist people wouldn't have that much of a problem with the shoulderpads.

That is so true o.O!!!
You don't even want shoulder items?
Why's that?
edit-- spikes are good as well, I dont mind them, but it seems a lot of people do.
