Well, n-not technically. You see, I bought the game when it first came out, almost three years ago, got to level 60 with a Barbarian and stopped playing her after I got bored. I haven't played since, and with how the game has changed, I consider myself somewhat of a beginner.
I'm sure you guys get asked this a lot, and I may get redirected to another thread (I tried looking for one, couldn't find it), but which class is recommended for a newer player who doesn't need great gear in order to have fun and progress throughout the game. I have done my homework in the meantime and from the looks of it, the Barbarian seems to be pretty banal, as he only has one type of build that's really viable (Correct me if I'm wrong).
I also saw a support zDPS WD and Monk build, which look like a lot of fun. I'm enjoy playing support roles in games, my only question is, how hard are they to gear, and how much skill would it take? I understand I won't be able to solo, so is it even worth it? I don't know anyone else that plays the game, so I'd have to play pubs.
I'm trying to decide between all the classes (I just bought RoS, but I'm looking to start over). I hear Crusader is fun, but it's mostly from people who exclusively play Crusader. Anyway, any feedback or replies are welcome and appreciated.
A Witch Doctor pet build is pretty easy, there's a build on this site for those starting a new season, so you have nothing to start with and just use crafted items until you get the set items you're after.
if you played vanilla then i think crusader is a must. especially with the season 1 condemn build. other than that, basically every class is VASTLY different than vanilla, so theyre all new to you.
wd isnt zombie bears anymore (though zdogs made a miraculous comeback)
wiz straight up cant archon or cmww anymore
barbarian cant wotb ww anymore
monk got A LOT of love
dh morphed into an engineer class instead of an archer class
unfortunately, every single class is pigeonholed into 1 or 2 builds, all requiring set items and a ring of royal grandeur. thats just how the game is now
So what would you recommend for someone who hasn't played in a while?
I heard Wizard, DH and WD are pretty easy. As a few pointed out already, all you do as a WD is let your pets tank for you, DH I heard just spam sentries and Wizard is all about Firebirds and just putting dots on elite packs. I heard Barbarians and Monks are a lot harder because they're more in the thick of it and Crusaders are pretty much OP.

you heard a lot of stuff. i can boil down every class to "____ just does ____ now." i would not call crusaders op though. personally crusader is/was my favorite class, but 5 months in season 1 plus the time i put into the class since ros launched was just way too much. demon hunter seems op. firebird and wd are pretty boring in my opinion. barb charge is fun but single target is super frustrating. monk still takes too much spamming for my tastes.
difficulty wise, melee is obviously "harder" than ranged. id actually say crusader is the hardest because character placement matters much more for them. barb = everything is frozen. monk is a solid number 2 in difficulty.

Oh, i see.
I was thinking about just going DH, seems like a pretty enjoyable laid back class to be honest with you.

Yeah, I was considering a WD.
How difficult are DHs to play?
Challenging only on high grifts, lots of fun and not hard on torment 1-6 and lower grifts.
I think wizard is really versatile and fun to play.
My main on the first season was a DH tho. Not the best class to play unless you get him geared (M6).
