I really like the idea of treasor globlins. It’s a fun way to interact with another type of “mob” and it can also lead to great treasures. However, I think the goblin “concept” is too nice with us. I mean… There’s always this poor little goblin that I need to literally destroy in order to steal his items! I’m not against destroying the heck out of him but I want to hate that guy first! So, I suggest that once in a while, when there’s a legendary drop, there’s this sneaky goblin that tries to steal our legendary before we do. If he succeed, he quickly TP and disappear. If he doesn’t, then we get the legendary but the globin also TP and disappear. That will encourage player to incorporate Freeze, Stun, knockback, Leap… skills to protect their loot and it would also give us a reason to destroy these little sneaky Goblins
Also other nice ideas could follow this one like creating a Globin Hate buff whenever a globin successfully steals your item. Each point could give you like +5% legendary chance buff on your next goblin kill.
What do you think? I mean, I really want to hate those guys
You have played your wizard for 700 hours and just found your ancient furnace. You are out doing a rift and the goblin pops out of nowhere and steals your weapon. No problem, I'll just kill him...oh wait...I have no weapon. /checks inventory. Ah, I have a leg I haven't ID'ed, let me do that real fast before he gets away. /id leg. 80% of the way through a pack of T6 mobs starts hitting you and breaks the ID and almost kills you. No you are trying to get away from them and the gob runs away with your item. You go grab a mediocre weapon and start (potentially) another 700 hour gaming session in hopes that you'll find another one with a good roll.
I took his suggestion entirely differently. I think he meant the goblin is taking the unid from the ground and you have to stop him.
That would not be anywhere near as bad. If there is a hatred buff on the next kill, I would like it to be persistent. Just because I log off for a night doesn't mean I'm not still mad my stuff got jacked the next day.
I have played a game that had a goblin thief (cant remember what game it was) but it did suck cuz i lost a couple good items that way. pissed me right off.
I like the new goblins. happy with them the way they are now.
I say this a bit tongue-in-cheek (substantially, actually), but is the Treasure Goblin trope not just a Jewish stereotype? A pale, hunched-over, absurdly hook-nosed creature with an impish giggle and a stash of gold and treasure (Jew bag, if you will). It has no martial capacity of its own, but leads you into danger, profits from your predicament and laughs all the way. Then of course there is the treasure realm, with his grotesquely obese mistress, hidden from the eyes of men. The goblin really does look like some Nazi-era propaganda cartoons a la "Das Sturmer."
I am joking, mostly, and, as a Jew, if this is true, its hilarious and not at all offensive. Still, I cannot help but notice.
You join 4 months ago and this is your first post?
Anyway, I can just as easily compare the goblin to Smeagle, odd caricature of a "normal" creature, mutated by it's desire for "precious" shiny things, cackling to itself as it runs off. Admittedly lacking the ability to turn on you in an instant fit of madness, but oh well.

Treasure goblins actually taking loot (a la Unepic) would not be good in this game.

That is why I do not like this idea.
