What is everyone doing for Act 3 runs? I can farm Act 3 but am farming Act 2 because I can't find a run that I can do as fast that has as many elites.
I start in the Vault which gives 8-12 elites.
Do mines which is another 2. Alcarnus for another 1-2.
Check Ancient Path for you know who.
Do the cave at the beginning of the Oasis for another 1-2.
Check to see if The Ruins is up for another 5-8.
This is a lot of elites in almost no time (and normally 3-4 goblins).
I can't seem to find a run in Act 3 that gives me so many elites in the amount of time. Any advice?
i start on the quest 'kill siegebreker' to have all the needed portals. after SB its all linear so i just do everything after him, but 1st i go get stacks in keep depths. lvl 1 most of the times has 4 elites.
i normally do full clears (meaning every single elite in the act) cause honestly thats more worth it then reseting my NV stacks...
but anyway, if u start on that quest its very easy to hop around the act as you please. its def worth it to do keep depths, barracks (goblins and big chests in those 100%), and everything past SB.
I dont think you can really compare time needed to complete full Act3 clear with a quick farming route in Act2. Things will change tomorrow anyway.
Quick farming runs in Act2 with MF gear will be the most effective way to farm rares. The ratio of elites per minute or rare per minute should always trump anything you can achieve in Act3 due to lay out of the maps and difficulty of encounters in the later act.
With 1.0.4 around the corner, there is no thing to be considered in the form of Paragon levels. Short farming runs in Act2, where your uptime of NV experience bonus will suffer due to short route, frequent restarts and monsters granting less experience per kill will lower your experience gain compared to Act3.
We will have to make decision between rare farming efficiency and experience gains. Interesting choices and options ahead of us, which is always good.
I would agree with this. I think that my plan will be to farm as heavily as possible for the short term and not worry about Paragon levels. I'm hoping that my luck will hold up and I'll be able to find a few of these new legendaries and/or set pieces to sell. The prices should be through the roof at the beginning. Once the prices start to come down, I'll start the leveling grind again and work on replacing my MF gear with normal gear.
I'm just wondering if I should leave my great Act 2 run with tons of elites for a longer/less elite Act 3 in order to bump up my chances of getting ilvl 63's. With some legendaries being bumped to ilvl 63, the chances should be greater in Act 3.
There's no magic spot or mob that drops legendaries that I've found. My build/gear has been constant for a while and I'm averaging 1 legendary/set item about every 5 hours with this current run. Most of my legendaries have been ilvl 61 and 62 and I'm wondering if I'll see the same results since a good many have been moved to ilvl 63. Hopefully you're right and the speed of the run and # of mobs makes up for the lower drop rates.
I'll try the same run for a few days to see how it goes. I might mix in a few Act 3 runs to see if there is any difference in drops.

5hours / legendary is awesome if you are lucky that much. Constant farming here and 100hours/legendary here..
I do 300%MF including NV stacks and Act2 farming all the way.

I went 160 hours before finding my first one. I've found 30 legendaries, 6 set pieces, 1 JC recipe and 1 legendary BS recipe in the last 150 hours.
It was about hour 160 that I started bumping up my MF. I got to the point where I was running Act 1 with 275% unbuffed without swapping. I kill every single mob that I come across and all but 5 legendaries and 2 set pieces have come from trash mobs. I think swapping and not killing trash severely cuts down on the loot that you get. If you're not swapping, there is no excuse for a DPS geared DH to not kill trash. I use a bow with Ball lightning. I just fire a couple BL's as I'm running and the mobs explode. Killing trash might slow my run down by a few minutes, but no enough to notice.
I lowered my MF a little for Act 2 and 3, but still have about 210% unbuffed with a follower on my normal gear. I have noticed that I don't find as many rares overall as I did with 275, but the speed and ilvls in Act 2 make up for it.

How long does your run take?
