I finally got 60 last night and i am almost through act 1 inferno, but I am in need of some advice. I don't really know what stats I should be going for exactly. So far ive just been going for straight dex/vit. Is vit necessary in inferno, or will i be 1 shot anyway? I come from playing MMO's where stats are very clear depending on what class you are. Should I also be getting crit chance/crit damage on gear as well?
Below are links to my current stats, and build. If anyone would like to point me in the right direction on what I should be increasing, or a good starter build, I would appreciate it very much.
id recommend dropping either smoke screen, or shadow power, use one, not both. pickup a better single target dps attack. impale seems to be a common favorite post 1.03. if your using shadow power leave bat companion, if your going smoke screen id recommend caltrops, your gonna need to kite. farm the hell outa act 1. get your 5 stacks and kill everything, a lot of nice stuff is dropping now. save up some gold, and buy a weapon with 1k+ dps first, then upgrade the rest. if you can get yourself to 30k health, 200-250 resists, 35-40k dps you should be able to mow through act 2.
id give you my build and what i go for on gear... i am currently in act 3 progressing and it goes VERY well...
build: http://us.battle.net...YVXT!eYa!YccbaZ
* preperation heals also
* smoke screen makes you run REALLY fast to get out of problems + allows you to kite well.
* spam those tentacles, they might be "nerfed" but they are still very very good.
* lay traps while kiteing stuff, stand in them if you can for a nice bonus (nice for group play also, as you can use them as a sefl buff+ if anything gets close it gets slowed
gear:
high damage BOW or 2x 1h of your choice (you need the speed to kite as this build is NOT aimed towards attackspeed
i will explain from my point of view where i use a bow.
will explain in order of desired stats (most wanted->less->less... priority!)
helm: crit->dex->resist/vit
shulders: dex->resist/vit
chest: dex->MAX discipline->resist/vit
belt: dex->vit/resist
legs: dex->vit/resist
boots: dex->movement->resist/vit
gloves: DEX->crit change (8+!)->resist/vit->(crit damage)
amu: dex->crit DAMAGE->resist/vit->(crit chance)
rings: dex->crit DAMAGE->resist/vit->(crit chance)
quiver: attackspeed->dex->MAX Discipline->vit/(resist?)->hatred regen
bow: DAMAGE!->dex?->other nice stuff... just try not to get attackspeed on it (the more attackspeed of your weapon, the less you earn from attackspeed from other gear... and might as well get a strong weapon then)
items whit stats inside () are _very_ expensive to get all that stuff on 1 item.
consider this:
bow: 1.4 attacks a second
xbow: 1.1
thats per min:
bow: 84
xbow: 66
if they both have 1000 dps. thats 60000 per min
bow: 84 attacks doing an average ~714 damage per attack
xbow: 55 attacks doing an average ~909 damage per attack
if you use "archery" passive, it increased the damage of bow by 15% for:
bow: 84 attacks doing an average ~821 damage per attack (the bow will then technically have 1150 dps)
the only time you EARN on using a xbow is whit a high chance to crit and high crit damage as the xbow only ever get +damage IF YOU CRIT. in ALL other cases a Bow will be better in the long run (also a good enough of an attack speed to kite easier)
but don't talk about the passive "sharpshooter" as it gives you a FAKE dps count. it will we awesome for 1 sec. then its useless for the rest of a fight not giving that big of a bonus. (if you started a fight and you are back to your base 15% crit chance, this stacks up to 21... you get a crit, so you have 21% crit for 1 sec, then back to 15% and start ticking... its REALY useless once a fight have started.)
((i use a bow whit 1190 dps, no attack speed... it technically have 1606dps whit my passives a xbow whit same dps whould stay at 1428. and only time its better, its from random crits))
i consider crits a BONUS damage. where most people consider crit NORMAL damage and white damage as crap damage (especially whit a xbow)...

crit dex bracers
crit dex max discipline quiver
crit damage dex amulet
socketed bow and put green in it
xbow = focus attack speed
bow = focus crit damage
ignore vitality and become ninja
While I agree with the focus on crit and dex, you ABSOLUTELY need vit and resistance. Things are GOING to hit you, you need to be able to survive.
