Another Diablo solo kill. Australian first? Certainly a challenging fight on 500ms. Sorry there isn't a video. : ( If you follow my strat though, you could definitely re-create the kill speed and see for yourself how quick it is.
I would like to thank berserk for his help with phase 2. I did some things differently though and have a slightly different build, which I believe enabled me to complete the fight much faster than any video I have seen. I would say approximately
In phase 1, I just stand there and go invulnerable repeatedly by using 1 cooldown of prep runed with focused mind. The moment it all runs out, He stomps the ground and phase 2 begins. This will always happen when his Life bar reaches the O in Diablo.
Phase 2, I watch the cutscene because my resources regen during it so I start the phase fresh. Immediately I smoke twice to kill my clone, and then pop prep again and run around shooting Diablo. This is in my opinion the most challenging phase of the fight, and the one where I felt every point of discipline counted. The important part is management of resources. In order to have enough discipline at all times, it is critical to remember that another clone will come out when his life bar reaches the last I in Diablo's name. If you are prepared with your prep cooldown, you should have enough to be ready for your clone and diablo again afterwards. After that, you can actually skip the 3rd clone that usually would come out when his life bar reaches the D in his name around 30% hp. Keep running around and shooting him as you go, using smoke each time he teleports to you. When you get his health to slightly before the 3rd clone, go invulnerable with smoke and your cooldown and never exit invulnerability. If you have enough dps, he will not summon the 3rd clone because you are invulnerable, and should die.
Phase 3, I am burned out on discipline and my prep CD, but luckily Diablo is very talkative and gives you a good 40 seconds or so to restore everything. Very similar to phase 1 except I didn't just stand there and burn him right away. If you stand at max range and hit him with hungering arrow, you should be safe from every attack but his teleport slash and the occasional fireballs. If you have a good feeling for how much damage you can do while in your invulnerability chain, then you can finish off Diablo the moment his health is low enough for you to burn him down in one go. Also, he will move around while you are invincible in phase 3, making it harder to hit him with some abilities.
I hope this helps and inspires other demon hunters out there to solo Diablo before we get nerfed into the ground. Lastly, I feel I have one of the fastest solo Diablo kills, if not the fastest, due to 2 things.
1. Smoke screen is obviously amazing and so my strategy is to never take a hit from anything so I am free to stack nothing but damage for stats. If I get hit by anything during the encounter while not invincible, I die.
2. Elemental arrow, nether tentacles is absurdly broken. It says it regens your health but what it actually does is the most damage of any ability in the game. Witness the power for yourself before it gets patched.
I guess that's it. Would be happy to help by answering any questions, or to exchange strategy and tips. Good luck, and keep bleeding filth.
This is the exact build I used for the fight. You have some wiggle room with passives though, so use whatever you like for those. For farming, I use pretty much the same thing.

What smoke nerf? We all knew one was likely coming, but I didn't know it was official.
