Over the weekend I finally hit a lotto drop and am sitting on about 170m to upgrade my barb.
He's probably "mid" geared at this point but I want to know what my next couple of upgrades should be.
My goals are speed xp runs on mp0-1, I'm probably at about 15 minute Alk runs now but I never do the exact same run to prevent too much monotony. Survival really isn't a problem, its speed.
I don't know when bnet will update it, I purchased an Echoing Fury with about 1100 dps/Str/socket and a meh offhand with lifesteal/str/socket. I don't know if I want to invest in a double CD offhand yet as I've been running a throwing/stun build for ubers.
I'm running a ww/rend build that I've found is faster than the standard double tornado.
I've considered going full IK but the chest doesn't seem like very good return on investment and I want to keep my farming set close to max mf. I'm at 247 with my follower right now. Ideally I could get another 40ish MF somewhere so that I'll be nearly capped but my amulet is a huge source of dps.
And yes, I'm working on getting a new hellfire roll... that one is garbage but it does the job.
Following up, I bought a new offhand dagger with native CD. Still waiting for prices on gems to come down.
I bought a new pair of gloves, lost a fair bit of EHP with the loss of Vit/res all but gained almost 10k dps from the single upgrade.
I have about 120m left to spend. I have a separate gear set with about 300 more res all for mp8 ubers and I've had no problems with them in our playgroup.
Any suggestions on where to go from here? I'm now at 105k unbuffed with 2.33 APS.
dont think gem prices can come down mate. gems has fix price attached to it from the cost of combining them
emerald always the most expensive one because the flawless square is the most expensive and i think its been on 3k per gem for a long long time. it used to be purple gem second before 1.0.3 but since the rise of ww barb it has jump to no 2 position. basically check the cheapest star gem (i think its purple now coz no one really put vit gems anymore) and u can see thats not really much difference in price. the difference is the higher emerald material cost added to it, tomes prices has been quite low too so it can't bring the price down, unless you went to asian server where the best gems are 200k then i think it is more likely it is going up, reason is ppl like you who speed alk runs and never pick up the gems so not so much gems going into the economy. when it become boring for you just run act 1 or 2 and pick up those gems. all my gems are self farm and i only pick up ruby and emerald now. if ppl can make money from making gems i would be a rich man by now coz i always pick up all my gems before, sadly it is not the case.
the only way to make ur run faster is dps on mp1 or 0
when i see your gear where can i gain dps are boots and chest
IK chest would gives you 100 more str and AR but u will lose 50-100vit which could be a problem on higher mp runs so make sure u pick it up at other places, i am looking at your stat less lacuni
for boots go for 250str ice climbers with movement speed + the gem or more affordable but this comes at very hetfy price or over 200 str fire walker is a cheaper option especially one without the all resist roll (honestly i dont think it hurts to lose 80 ar for mp0 runs, for mp4-5 it might be different case though again the question is do you want to pay for the extra upfront for the all resist rather than buying another pair later)
str crit rolled lacuni with vit for the future. i understand you want you mf to be high but those stat would become obsolete once you hit high paragon level (follower and nv stack) mf capped at 300% and beyond that u just have to go up in monster level. not much point spending 50-100m on a new gear that has mf when u will regret it later because at this stage your purchases should be toward final purchases not incremental upgrades. anything above 220% mf i think should be fine
why use 16% life gem on helm? use ruby u wont die anyway in mp 0/1 with those gear. faster level more mf and gf
belt. do you even need 3 piece IK for this run? do you need the lifesteal on belt? if not belt with 230-250str 100vit is dirt cheap i picked up one the other day with 65 AR mightybelt for 35k buyout. 250str above getting more expensive but 1-2 mil max probably more if it has really high vit. if you really need the lifesteal just look for it on mighty belt but the price will be much more expensive. the same belt that i picked up for 35k become millions when it has just that one extra lifesteal stat. high str lamentation is another option, look for str or str/vit and all resist random roll this will not be cheap as this is considered as the perfect roll for this belt. lamentation comes with 1% crit chance too. witching hour has 8% attack speed but u wont get high str (low 100s if my guess, max possible maybe 200str but i dont know if that is possible as it has natural int roll and ias on the belt. this would be the cheapest dps upgrade for you
main weapon no kidding, why? dont look at the BIG 1106 DPS look at the small number 618-905 damage. now go look at a normal mace with 1100-1200DPS mace look for the small number xxx-11xx damage maybe even 12xx damage. that would be much better when it crits and when u use your skill. read ww description, deliver multiple atacks for 145% weapon damage, your weapon damage is the small number print not to big number print. don't believe me go buy cheap weapons even blue is fine on AH, go for big number 1000 dps 2 hander double handed axe and a dagger or sword with attack speed (easier to see with attack speed). the sword and dagger would have something like 400-800 damage or maybe less in small print and the axe will have 800-1300 damage on the small print. put those on your enchantress and see how much different her erosion skill ticks on the axe and the dagger/sword. like ww her erosion skill uses weapon damage which is the small number not the big number. crit is calculated on the small number too, the big dps number is actually can be misleading so your 1100dps echoing fury actually hitting like a 900dps mace per hit and though it is hard to actually see and tested it on WW, a faster weapon will hit faster but just a tiny fraction faster but since ww hits really fast anyway maybe u get 0.1 second faster hit hard to tell so it means with 10 hit 1.2speed mace you get 11hit with your EF but it is hard to see. But we can definitely deduct that your crit will hits much higher on slower weapon. just use those blue two weapon again on your self and hit single enemy. the 2h axe will crit higher and since ww crit like crazy (yes i love looking at those yellow numbers flying out too and that to be beat an extra 1 or 2 swing every 10)
lastly your ring, look for the same, with an extra crit damage. if not attack speed. i prefer crit damage for lower mp. monster die too quick. crit damage is instant damage, attack speed is more like better over time when mobs actually stay alive longer like on mp10
