My barb is currently at 50k hp, 1000 phys, 950 fire, 800 resist for rest. 9.2k armor, 12000 damage, about 900 life on hit.
I've probably spent under 6 mil in total buying gear.
I can solo Inferno Belial (and the rest of Act 2) with ease. In fact, Belial is easy enough you can practically beat him using nothing but frenzy and revenge.
Just like the rest of you, I thought inferno may have been over tuned for melee but I must say, I really do feel like blizzard hit the sweet spot with the difficulty. Inferno has been challenging enough that I've asked myself, many times, if it was actually possible, and it turns out that it is.
I'm still trying to decide between Leap and WotB. Leap is amazing due to the 300% armor bonus for 4 seconds on a 10 second cooldown. The landing snare also helps deal with ranged mobs that like to run away from you. On the other hand, WotB is equally amazing at dealing with nightmarish/frozen+waller packs giving you 15s of double damage and inability to be CC'd.

To get that level of gear you have to buy stuff from later acts, which is great if your goal is to fun the AH, terrible if you plan on players to progress thru the game by farming an act. I'm at a point where I can get a 5 stack of nef buff going through act 2, and survive some hits playing a witch doctor. However because of the difficulty it's easier for me to get loot cheesing spots in act 3 and 4 than it is to properly farm this ridiculous difficulty.
Not really, act 2 stuff can roll 40-50 all resist. 1handed weapons can roll 900+ dps with life on hit. You can literally go through Act 2 inferno by farming act 2 inferno slowly. AH simply speeds it up.

The resist stuff you can probably find with extreme luck, the 900+ dps one hander is an Act 3 or 4 blue or a divine luck from the gods bullshit yellow from act 2, I know this because I've been farming it for quite some time (including some town cellar farming) and the best I've found was 850.
No, I just found 2 socketed legs with 141 vit, 41 all resist and some life regen helping a friend do act 2. I've found boots/bracers previously with similar stats. I've also found 800 dps one handers from act 1. There's no extreme luck involved; the fact that I found almost half my gear in under a week of farming inferno and can almost complete it is proof of that.

Whatever, not being able to see how ridiculous the damage comes in and how it limits playstyle choices is your problem, not mine. Ill just go back to farming the easy boss on Act 4 inferno till they make the rest of inferno more fun.

It's funny, I was saying the same thing a few days back. "Inferno past act 2 is stupid, things just hit way too hard. I can die with ignore pain and WotB up, wtf? You have to play tank, it's dumb having to kite stuff as melee. Why can wizards/dh do act 3/4 in crappier gear?"

Actually, I just found my post from 3 pages back on questioning if Act 2 was even possible. http://www.diablofans.com/topic/42963-is-it-possible-to-solo-act-2-inferno/
In fact, a few days ago some guy posted that he could solo Act 2 inferno with relative ease and I called bullshit on his claim.
