What's one of the many reasons reasons you started playing this Diablo?
For me I started playing D2, never played D1. The reason was the barbarian character looked like me. Besides the hair cut.

One day... I was on a quest ridding the world of evil, when suddenly I came to a wal-mart. It was a vast place filled with many obstacles, but once I cleared my way to the electronics, there set on the third shelf, the Diablo battle chest set. It was as if I could see the aura glow about it as i stood, transfixed at the game, somthing inside of me came alive, and I knew, right then and there, I would never be the same until I beat this game at least 50 times with each character.
Actually, I was just bored, like I am now, and thought diablo would be a cool game to play.... I was right :P

I started playing Diablo from way back in D1 days, when my uncle let me play his copy while he ran to the grocery store... Never could cure the addiction since then

A friend showed me Diablo 1 a long time ago, I was fascinated, because I had never seen such a game before. I played it for a long time (even now sometimes I fire up Diablo 1), but it wasn't enough, I needed a new Diablo. Later I found out that Diablo II was coming, and luckily my parents were still in Canada so they brought it to me way earlier than it would come to Slovakia. ( I think I'll go to the US to buy Diablo III, no way in hell I'm going to wait while all the others play :) )
And as to why I started, it's because I like how the game is unique, the storyline is simple but rich, basically almost every aspect is better compared to other RPGs, even those made nowadays.

rather oddly titled thread,
but Let me tell you a story to chill the bones, 'bout a thing that I saw. One night wandering in the everglades. I had one drink but no more. wait! what? no i didnt! i was only 10, damn iron maiden with their totally awesome and cool lyrics that i cant seem to stop posting, jokes i love Iron maiden, anyway I was searched through the games on the rack in a dank hole of games, cd/dvds, graphic novels, comics and collectables store, aptly called "Just another Dank Hole' when i came across an game like no other i had seen before, Diablo, it was called, "buy me" "buy me" "buy me now" it called out to me like a thousand needles in my heart, when it called, i obeyed. why do things happen as they do, whoops to much diablo cinematics, where was i oh right i remember now, lol, i bought the game knowing nothing of its contents, but i devoted myself to it entirely, mind body and soul. 36 hours straight i played the game, (finished it 3 times).
many years later, i would return to the dank hole and to my surprise, there it was, Diablo II, with its haunting, skeletal figure on the cover, only this time i knew what lurked within its cardboard outer shell. but try as i might i could not stop myself from giving in to my inner demons and i once again gave up my sanity and purchased the game, yet other 36 hour bender, only this time my two brothers had also sacrificed their souls in order to finish this game, we took shifts, 1 played, the other two made sure that no adult would stop us in finishing our goal.
one year later upon return to the acursed dank hole i was met again by a familar feeling, i felt a chill run down my spine, sure enough there it was, Diablo II: LOD, at first for only a moment i thought unto myself, no not again, i would hold on to what little sanity i had left, but my inner demons were to much for my sanity, i bought the game, and i along with my brothers, we devoted ourselves to the erradication of all that is evil, we would stop at nothing to see our destinies fufilled, we would triumph over evil.
oh and somewhere in there i got Hellfire.
many years later i would search the net for any information pertaning to the existance to the ineviatable third installment in the series, and through my seraching i found my way here, where i found many other like minded damned souls, where i sought solice within the temples of the Lord God Silversurfnstud

hmmm, d1 was my bday present when i turned 8. i hated it at first cuz i kept dying, and a year later i beat the crap out of it. with all three classes, so when i saw d2, i had to get it, of course.

Well I discovered Diablo with some friends the first time it hit the streets. We played Diablo in LAN all the time we could get together. And solo in the regular weekdays. Then we suddenly heard the rumor that D2 was going to be made. WOW could Blizzard make it better?? Yes they could but what a long wait for the f***** game to hit the shelves. But oboy was it worth it. Even today I start Diablo and D2 from time to time. And I search the web for news about D3 all the time. Thats how I ended up in here :)

I actually found diablo 1 at a flea market for 3 dollars. I bugged my mom to get it and she did. I was hooked on it ever since that day. That was like 8-9 years ago.

My brother jacked Diablo 2 from Office Depot and he played a bit. I think i was like 11 at the time and I have vague recollection of the game then, but when i got like 13-14 i started playing it, first single player, then open, then closed bnet. i never really got serious until i was like 15, and i still kinda suck! haha

I was young, at the age of 7 and then my father aquired diablo 1 for me as a present. I fell in love with the game, i had nightmares where the butcher would come and say "ahhh fresh meat." Then later when i was 12 I saw diablo 2 and got my hands on it as fast as i could, then 2 years ago i got LOD. Now im posting on Diablo3.com awaiting for a game i fell in love with 9 years ago

diablo 1 was the start. i got up to hell and couldnt pass it from there. i was stumped. i couldnt pass it any further. in anger i shunned the game. so long ago it was. five years ago i purchased diablo 2 in hopes i can pass it and rid myself of the shame it put me long before. i dont remember buying the expansion except the words "my precious" repeating im my head to this very day. not even a month ago i decided to join this community. i had passed by here only for news and in hopes that the third game would be released. when i registered here i did it with the resolve that i would use my voice and speak out my love for these games. (i will probably get diablo 1 and pass it someday soon.)
