I love Rammstein!

I always thought it was funny how all the members look like they would be in various different genre bands.

Hah, I think just about everyone is a fan of Rammstein. I certainly am. The german voice just makes it sound so good. Love that Winnie The Pooh video too.

I pretty much only like Tier... Eifersucht is okay, along with Du Hast and Mein Tiel, although I won't have them in my iTunes. I went through their whole discography and didn't like much.

Like I said, not much of a Rammstein fan, although I'd definitely go see them live. That'd be awesome if they came here again... my mom, my brother, and I would all go.

Like I said, not much of a Rammstein fan, although I'd definitely go see them live. That'd be awesome if they came here again... my mom, my brother, and I would all go.I've seen them live. Lots of flame and pyrotechnics.

I loved the song Rammstein (off their album Herzaleid) where he wears nothing but some flame retardent pants and jacket and sings the song.

Some of you might have seen the poster on my wall in the Picture thread. Thats him singing that song.

But Till Lindemann (the lead vocalist) is not the only one to light himself on fire or use a flamethrower mask or some other weird contraption that shoots fire. Those from what i can tell he is the only one to wear this thing.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2257/1614967419_718feb3cf7_m.jpg

It's used quite often during Freuer Frei (which featured in the opening sequence of the movie XXX), especially at the point where he says (Freuer Frei) BANG BANG.

Till Lindemann is one of my favourite Lyricists of all time, though you kinda have to know german to get it as when it gets translated into english the words dont have the same poeticness they had in german. Sentence structure and all that.

Also things like Mein Teil, which is german for My Part, or rather my Penis. It's a reference to Armin Meiwes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_Meiwes), a man in Germany who found a willing "victim" (Bernd J?rgen Brandes) to slaughter. Before the deed, Brandes wanted his penis cut off, and they ate it together.

And let us not forget the brillinat song Du Hast. When Till is just saying "Du hast," it sounds as if he could either be saying "Du hast" (you have) or "Du hasst" (you hate). This is to give the song a double meaning, even though the official lyrics say "Du hast."

There is another sort of double meaning in the song. If the line is read as "Tod der Scheide" it would be "until the death of the vagina" and not "until death, which would seperate" ("Tod, der scheide"). The whole song is a play on German wedding vows (Wollen Sie einander lieben und achten und die Treue halten bis dass der Tod euch scheidet? - Do you want to love and respect each other and to remain faithful, until death seperates you?). Instead of answering with "Ja," Till says "Nein," finally answering the question he said nothing to in the beginning.

du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt, means you have asked me and I have said nothing Incase you weren't exactly sure what I was referring to.

Du
du hast
du hast mich
du hast mich gefragt
du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt

You
you have
you have me
you have asked me
you have asked me and I have said nothing

I'm not sure how many of you are able to piece this together (it's kind of a long shot) but, as you may or may not have guessed, my user name is actually german, it is german for Elf Song. It's name is derived from a old german song about an Elf (there just happens to be an anime/manga with the same name which references the same german song).

Rammstein have a song called Mein Herz Brennt (one of the songs used in one of the Hellboy II trailers), part of the lyrics in Mein Herz Brennt are about demons, ghosts and black fairies (" D?monen Geister schwarze Feen" being the exact lyrics naturally), so yes, any music that is german and is about magic creatures will inivitably tickle my fancy, so yeah, you could say I am a Rammstein fan.

I can speak and understand 90% of the German language. The hard part is writing in German.. because of the structure and I always get confused. For some reason tho. I have no problem speaking it.

Only heard 'Sonne', and because of that song I came up with a short dramatic poem! 83

Well, I do like the song I heard, and I have to see the rest of their songs. But I liked how they made Sonne, and not just because it's in German.

It's usually Du Hast that everyone tells me that they have heard... but haven't any others.

Well Du Hast and Rosenrot.
I think people who don't normally listen to anything by Rammstein have heard these or listen to these the most.

i like rammstein, used to listen to them a lot
had the cd Herzeleid and one other. i liked all the songs on them except the come in my boat song :P
(which is probably a good song but i couldn't ever get past the first 20 seconds without either making fun of it or switching to the next song)
i agree with elfen lied that the lyrics really are very good
i don't speak/read german but i read translations so that i'd know what i was singing along to :P

saw them live (during family values tour? though i went for rammstein not korn) and it was one of my top 10 favorite concerts (beating out some shows of bands i prefer)
highlights of the live show were the fire.. the fire...
the mock sodomy of the keyboardist with this phallic hose strap-on thing that he then sprayed the audience down with... the fire..
oh and the music was great too and tons of energy (the keyboardist was hilarious also in the way he played and moved)

edit: never knew about the rammstein pooh, teletubby, and misheard lyric phenomenon on youtube
some of them are really funny
(example of (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98LTmqeV670&feature=channel_page)misheard lyrics)

Rein Raus, love to play this one in Audiosurf. Also Mein Herz Brennt (classic!). I've heard many others of course, but these two are just good. I got the cd "Mutter" on my pc and I am not sure if we have other cds at home.

Well. Rammstein is one of those bands I listened to before I was even really into music. I'd love to see them live one day.

That misheard lyrics thing isn't really funny if you keep hearing the regular german lines.. There are better english songs to "mishear" that sound like gibberish.

Here's one I made btw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFDT4Imf_SQ), not about Rammstein though (if it gives an error, try moving the time bar).

Buck Dich anyone? http://www.diablofans.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

Dont take them too serious but you gotta love them.

Your name is also Dutch, Elfen Lied :)

LOL I thought German? :P
Its seemingly the same in Dutch and German. Dutch is a crapload like German anyway, not?
(German mah 2nd mother tongue (although my English is a bit better i think LOL).)
You know the anime Elfen Lied though, right? Thats where it comes from if im not mistaken...

It's because the Dutch language originates from the German language. And yeah, I know the Anime lol ^_^

Dutch is my first language, English my second. Although sometimes I get a blackout where I can't remember a word in Dutch and this almost never happens to me in English. So maybe it's the other way around? But it could be just that English is an easier language lol.

I never payed attention in German class, but I can understand most of what they say because it's so similar to Dutch, but I usually don't know how to say something in German.

You know the anime Elfen Lied though, right? Thats where it comes from if im not mistaken...

That is a misconception Around here. I've know about the poem long before I've know about the manga/anime Elfen Lied, which I do like btw, as evident by my inclusion of Lucy in my Profile picture. (http://www.diablofans.com/forums/member.php?u=844) But that is not where my name comes from.

It comes from this.

und humpelt also tippe tapp
durch's Haselholz in's Tal hinab,
schlupft an der Mauer hin so dicht,
da sitzt der Gl?hwurm Licht an Licht.
Was sind das helle Fensterlein?
Da drin wird eine Hochzeit sein:
die Kleinen sitzen bei'm Mahle,
und treiben's in dem Saale.
Da guck' ich wohl ein wenig 'nein!?
Pfui, st??t den Kopf an harten Stein!
Elfe, gelt, du hast genug?
Gukuk! Gukuk!

Or in English.

At night in the village the watchman cried "Eleven!"
A very small elf was asleep in the wood -
just at eleven! -
And he thinks that the nightingale
must have called him by name from the valley,
or Silpelit might have sent for him.
So the elf rubs his eyes,
comes out of his snail-shell house,
and is like a drunken man,
his nap was not finished;
and he hobbles down, tip tap,
through the hazel wood into the valley,
slips right up to the wall;
there sits the glow-worm, light on light.
"What are those bright windows?
There must be a wedding inside;
the little people are sitting at the feast,
and fooling around in the ballroom.
So I'll just take a peep in!"
Shame! he hits his head on hard stone!
Well, elf, had enough, have you?
Cuckoo! Cuckoo!

This poem is actually sung in the manga Elfen Lied. One of the characters teaches it to Lucy.
