Alright guys, I wanna see videos of astonishing musical virtuosity. Any instruments, any genre.
Here's a bass solo by John Entwistle of The Who.

I think my jaw hit the floor at 3:10.

Do you know Cliff Burton? Nobody is better than him. Nobody.

Epic musicianship is easy. Pink Floyd: Meddle. Incredible album. It's about as epic as it gets.

Cliff Burton was Metallica's original bassist right? I dunno, Les Claypool is pretty sick. I'll check him out.
I LOVE Echoes. It's one of those songs that, once started, must play in completion. Great for long car rides. I had a friend drop some acid before watching the Live at Pompeii dvd. He....had a good time.
Here's an electric guitar improv by the late Shawn Lane....beautiful. They should have sent poets.

Only thing I don't like about Echoes is that long spacey jam part in the middle. Back in the day when I used to listen to a lot of Phish, I was into that kind of stuff. But no I just don't care for it; I rarely find it has a purpose. My latest copy of echoes I actually just edited those few minutes out of the middle. Same thing with like Dark Side of the Moon. I usually just skip past the second song and the first minute or so of the third song cause it's all just a bunch of noises.

I think I happen to be in that phase, enjoying extended jams like with Phish, Grateful Dead etc.
Definitely agree about those songs in Dark Side of the Moon. That second song is just annoying and the opening to Time is really grating.
Here's a cover of a great drum song, Ticks and Leeches by Tool.

I really liked that third one blood-doll. Talk about an awesome thing to see at a Renaissance fair.

That was incredible.
Probably one of the most skillful acoustic guitar performances I've seen. Don Ross-

Any Zeppelin fans? They have so much great stuff (like this) but it seems most people only know them for Stairway, Whole Lotta Love, and Black Dog.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Les Claypools Frog Brigade.

Also a variation of the Frog Brigade dubbed Les Claypool's Fancy Band.

Seriously a great live jam band. I would definetly reccomend their two disc live cd, where they cover Pink Floyd's Animals in its entirety. Its amazing.
And yes there are other Zeppelin fans who enjoy more than stairway and whole lotta love. I seriously have every last scrap of their music, they are truly a great live band. Also Echoes is indeed amazing. Probably the most artistic lyrics I have ever heard.

Bear McReary. (He may do TV Show music, but God-Damn! It is the best television score ever created and he is incredibly talented at composing and performing music of all kinds... He continues to perform live concerts (which usually sell out) just from his Battlestar Galactica music!
Please listen, even if you aren't a fan of classical or sci-fi stuff: this is all very original and incorporates so many different genres of music and so many different feelings.
(Of course, in context, the music is even better!) ;)

There's four seasons worth, but I just posted some of his best. (Really, all his work is awesome, and I encourage everyone here to listen to get ahold of the soundtracks and listen).

Didn't find anything epic on YouTube, only a couple of short live clips recorded with crappy pocket cams with dreadful audio. All the "epics" have died before common people could afford video cameras or even VCRs.
Not to mention YouBoob has a 11-minute limit.
And Marcus Miller outclasses all the aforementioned pop bassists by a few billion miles.
Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c46fr2EZOhQ for epic facial expressions!
