I could literally go on forever so I'm just going to stop at some of the most known Black/Death metal bands... I HATE trendy music and will not waste my time talking about it. Only true Death/Black metal here!!(i like Thrash Metal 2 but that's a whole different animal)

Metallica is an awesome band that I will love til the day i day...but now and days they fit in the hard rock genre. Black/death metal takes it another step where the whole songs are pretty much solo's when played. I am a pretty good fan with black/death metal when my mood is set...especially when i am pissed off and i play on my electric.

yeah.... Children of Bodom, Old Man's Child, and In Flames are gay (havent listen to Moonspell) and the the only thing i like by Samael is "Worship Him" (and i would hardly call it Black Metal)

ok i had to update my post because things got a bit messy.
From the bands i posted before i am only talking about early works, maximum first 2 or 3 albums.
If you want to call in flames and Cob gay, well...i will have to question your musicality. I mean its all fun to be a metal fan and hit our heads on the wall and air guitar and leave our hair grow and so on, but dont be ignorant enough to just tag them with a characterization such as calling them gay. U can say you dont like them as a band, or be a bit more specific as to criticize individual performance or recording quality or even album artwork.
I really appreciate your opinion morbid, i really do, but if you want to argue about something put some finesse in it.

Ok we get it. Your an uber cool underground kid with incredible taste in music that obviously surpases our understanding of what could possibly sound good.

Quit being such an elitist about it. You act like it's your right to talk to others with this passive condescending tone by inadvertintly saying that anyone who listens to music you label as trendy (btw by you reffering to the underground and mainstream the way you do you are only furthering a trend, you act as if your being different from everyone else but really your following a large group that acts like their music is way better cuz it never gets air time) is a complete tool that has no concept of real music.

But anyway..to get a little more on topic.

I personally hate the underground metal scene. The thing that seperates them from being classified as "metal" is that their genre is a parady of metal. Its undeground for a reason, because it played out. Just because they play harder faster and are more metal doesn't mean that are doing anything original because it is not. Who inspired those underground artists? Old mainstream artists! There can be an argument for the underground that they choose to not live within the bounds of media constraints but for these branches of metal I just dont see that as being the reason why they are underground.

Originality is what these genres lack.

To Qualify as "underground" the music has to be released in the underground. It can be any kind of music bad or good. Most underground bands/people advertise new material through fliers. A lot of bands get their start in underground. for example: Mayhem, Darkthrone, Immortal, Incantation, Death, Sadus and a shitload more. That of coarse that is just music there is also art and zines (magazines) available in the underground.

I suggest reading Necroscope metalzine. Adam releases a new issue every 9 months or so. I'ts a very good way to find underground bands. It has hundreds and hundreds of pages of undergrond metal reviews. And it only costs about 9 bucks.

What does that have to do with enclosed contact? Not signing with major labels just means you do not use those labels to advertise, but you can still make yourself heard and make people aware of your existence. Being in contact via mail only sounds more like avoiding a broad audience, which there are reasons for as well (insufficient supply, etc.).

If memory serves I believe the story (as it was told to me years back) goes; they died from illness in a severe winter, they were short on wood because they were burning all of it to stay warm in the winter. Furniture, buidings, trees, etc. All they had were the dead to build the church with.

Music to a "true" Metalhead is more than just "music". It's more of a lifestyle. It's more difficult though. If you walk down the street and see a guy with a cap and baggy pants, you wouldn't care. Walk into most clubs, what's playing? R&B, Hip Hop, or whatever the fuck the garbage they're playing is. See a guy with long hair, ripped jeans, and your head will turn. You don't listen to Metal everywhere. That's why Metalheads think they're so "unique", y'know? It's a concept hard to understand unless you are truly a devout Metalhead, not a Metal fan.
