Hey guys, I wanted to make a play list of dark and quiet music. And please skip any jokes lol, as there could be many : P. I love songs like Kiss (by korn), tearjerker (korn), darkness (disturbed), lithium (evanescence), my immortal (evanescence), roses on my grave (papa roach), one-x (three days grace), and more. I am looking for advice on more songs like this that i am overlooking or haven't heard of. Thank you.

An album you should definitely check out is by Aphex Twin, Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2.
It's two discs of really amazing ambient and laid back music. Some of it is more relaxing, some of it is downright creepy, other ones are just very beautiful.
A lot of video game soundtracks work well for things dark and quiet as well. Thief: Deadly Shadows soundtrack is really amazing and is all very dark and quiet music.
Oblivion and Morrowind soundtracks, minus the battle music is great to sit back and kick it to.
Diablo tracks are obviously good as well.

No. HIM isn'd dark and quiet. It's "Love Metal" for emotionally suppressed teenagers.
Dark and quiet? You can check out some of Burzum's work, but seriously, I need some examples of what you consider as dark and quiet. Like, for me..Xasthur is quiet and dark, but I don't know if it is for you.

I gave examples of what is dark and quiet...the BEST examples are these (especially darkness and tearjerker).
Darkness by Disturbed
Tearjerker by Korn
Requiem of the Gods by apocalytpica
Ruled by secrecy by Muse
and then there are other songs (such as the following) that are good but not quite as good as those two for what i am looking for.
Kiss by Korn
fade to black by apocalyptica
goodbye by mudvayne
vermillion part 2 by slipknot
lithium by Evanescence
My immortal by Evanescence
Hello by evanescence
Do what they say by Korn

Fade to Black by Apocalyptica? Lol.
I can't help you, since you don't listen to anything that relates to what I listen to. Sorry.

Is it me? Or are so many people just to eager to tout their Christ puncher bands to everyone. A lot of music I've seen suggested here can hardly be described as dark and quiet. Maybe dark I guess, whatever that means.

Your judgment when it comes to music and music's lyrical content contest that of a beaver. If you're hinting at me, the bands/songs I have suggested anywhere have little to no anti religious content. Your vibrant sense of classification really dazzles me.
You want dark and quiet? Try Dimmu Borgir's symphonic pieces, i.e The Fallen Arises. Xasthur's "Instrumental" is dark and quiet for me, though I don't know if it will hold the same effect on you. Call of Ktulu and Orion are also a great listen.

lol does that mean anti-Christianity / god bands? When i say dark i do not mean it that way at all. Matter of fact i am christian myself. I want dark as in the feel..like some songs i suggested as well as things like diablo...that Gothic quiet feel. Darkness is my best example of it. Tearjerker is also pretty good.

Don't take Christ punching too literally. It just that those bands like Mudvayne and Disturbed, etc, their music sounds like they want to punch Christ in the face. I can't explain it further.
And my comment actually wasn't directed at you, Mephisto.

The Call of Ktulu
Orion
To Live is to DiePantera:
Cemetery Gates

Voice of The SoulI personally consider these songs really calms...
(but when playing Diablo with my barb I usually listen to Slayer (Reign in Blood), Exodus (Another Lesson in Violence) or Kreator (Extreme Aggression):D)

You know, those two bands are just for angry teenagers, right? You know that actual Metal bands are in fact heavy, but also have calm songs, and 95% of their work would be completely meaningful? When I say meaningful in lyrical content, I'm not talking about Black/Death/Doom..etc bands, btw. To each his own, I guess. But seriously, don't flatter Mudvayne and Disturbed; you're better off attributing those qualities to bands like Mayhem or Cephalic Carnage.
Thrasher, those are great, but I don't know about some of those being "dark" lol
SNowfreak, I know what you mean..we all know what you mean..Jesus.

hey man, try some of these bands:
- Capricorns
- Baroness (somewhat ressembling Mastodon)
- Electric Wizard (doom)
- The Heads (psych-freak out)
- Red sparowes
- White Hills
- Hypnos 69 (strong pink floyd influences)
I know these are not your average "Dark" bands, but most of them have those quiet interludes and weird bridges and stuff. Really great music just to get your head floating :D

Yeah, I agree, but I'll always tell people to listen to them.:P
If you people want to hear something calm try Voice of the Soul, a song by Death.
