I have been playing Diablo, Diablo 2, and hopefully Diablo 3 and I have never heard anyone talk about the weapons or anything else except all I heard is talk about the characters, and the graphics what about the stuff you use?? I've drawn weapons in R.L. (real life) and I have made items like katanas, long shields, roman helms, chain armour, and axes god people better start thinking about more than the characters;) .

I agree with you. Building the characters cannot be achieved without weapons and armour.

first off in d3 i think all chars should be able to use 2 weps at once depending on their str. 2nd all items, weps, ect should look like they do in ur inventory

should depend more on the classes availiable. I prefer class specific armor pieces rather than regular rares/sets/uniques that can be used by anyone. I also dont find mana in melee classes that good anymore. rage for barbarians / energy for assasins would be bit better i think (yes i've seen it in WoW and it works very well).

excerpt from the master list
Weapons/items
-version of weapons more powerful than elite
-light and dark versions of weapons, (but not all) Light weapons give off a Holy glow, while Dark weapons give off an unholy glow
-more items of all types
-cloaks and capes over armor
-bring back the rags
-bring back the club that looked like a bit of wood with a nail in it
-bring back the spells books from diablo 1 (plus x lvls to x spell) and the bookshelves they are found on.
-also shields can be strapped to your back, that way you can have a shield and a two handed weapon, cant block but the armor rating thing still applies
Bring back items of the pit (plus -x to x stat)
-customize armor and some weapons NWN styles
-new types of weapons, such as whips [yeh i went there], slings, bayonets (see Anderson form Hellsing) katana, shuriken (ninja star), ninja to and wakazashi (I know this isnt an Asian themed game or DND, but you should know what i mean)
-more gems/better version of gems, more runes/more powerful and more rune words
-if the is something like the cube in d3 it should be available earlier in the game (I hate finding a good item or two and my stash if full of runes and gems and im in act 1) also it should be larger
-more transmutable items
-more craftable items
-more uniques, and more powerful, plus more that look different from their base item it should be like in Diablo nearly every unique item looked different form its base type
-trophies =>
demon heads, pelts, hinds, scalps, hooves, horns, tusks (work like charms and some as items like weapons and cloaks) and of course somewhere to store them like a seperate stash for trophies
-bring back the elixirs from diablo
-bring back the oils from diablo hellfire
-more set items (esp class specific sets)
-6 – 8 feet tall swords, which even someone like the barbarian has to use two hands to swing it
-definitely no GUNS, definitely no GUNS, no guns of any kind
-some legendary items, which you have to search for the parts and combine them to get a really powerful item, these items can either be created in the cube or by a master blacksmith
-throwing hammers, there are throwing knives and axes, why not hammers
-Flaming Longswords, man these weapons rock
-more non European style weapons, like Scimitars and Katanas
-Upgrades and add-ons to your armor (so you don't have to buy new armor)
-Upgrades and add-ons to your weapons as well.
-remove the magical property ‘+x to xChar skills’, it is annoying finding a ring that is +X to skills only to realize it is for the play and you are the necro, just have the +x to all skills and +x to xskilltree properties
-socketing items is similar to how you buy items, i.e you get the message "are you sure you want to socket this item"
-a more precise appraisal on your more valuable items

ya wut he said lol but id rather have ths skill tree inted of finding skill in books like d1
Elfen Lied

the books are in addition to the skill tree.
think i might do some more work on that list. weapons wise
Yeah, from browsing I've read it about 27 times now.. It's a bit.. same-ey? :P

its getting a little hard though, it seems like im the only one trying, welll most of the time, often people come to the same things i have.
the easy answer is more, but more what? items in general is good but its too vague. they have had virtually every weapon form medieval europe, (swords, axes) there are a few middle eastern of asian weapons left, but people often tend to criticise the asain weapons, i fail to see why, if its not a game with heavily influences from asia why is there a two handed sword with an asian name?, and a Katana is a good sword.
No one will say that you haven't worked hard on it, tis very comprehensive, it's hard to add anything completely new to it.. Beyond evolutions of ideas you've already stated it's difficult y'know?
But, surely you win an A* for Diablo geekness :D
I added a few things that you hadn't bought up already (or added a few things to bits you had) so I'm all out of ideas. Anyone else..?
Elfen Lied
11-13-2006, 04:28 PM
while i doubt anyone is doubting my the effort ive put into the master list, (from which the list above come from), ive had to say things like more weapons from the middle east like scimitars, simply because i am coming close to a point where im tapped out for ideas.
PhrozenDragon
11-13-2006, 08:26 PM
Well if you're out of ideas, then the only thing you can do is wait for Blizzard to say something or for someone here to come up with something completely new.
Anyway, back on discussion, I think armor should be bigger, better, more cool-looking. Customization of armor would be a nice addition, but nothing I would crave for. Just to avoid everybody running around looking the same (like in WoW)
Yeah I've thought that many a time, would be better if your character looked at least a little different..

The more gothic armour from D1 is cooler than the armour from D2, bring those back

You be able to get spikes on ur armor. It would be sweet to carry a shield that had spikes on it for smiting. Also spikes on ur boots would be pretty swet if u were an assassin. But spikes in general even on ur helmet would b awsome.

d1 was definately more(lack of a better word) creepy than d2; d3 should be creepy i think with the weps and armor and in general
Elfen Lied
02-13-2007, 08:43 PM
yeh where was the scariness/creepiness from d1. where was all the gothic weapons and architecture from D1.
i loved it how in d1 you could almost look like the black knights. veil of steel, gothic plate, that unique buckler, and a bastard sword. man that was cool

Diablo doesnt have a cd key so it easy to crack.

-Items with negative effects, or even cursed (drains your health for example)
-magical items can be much more powerfull in the stats they have.
-set combinations, for example: you wear a set containing 2 rings and amulet + a set containing boots gloves helm and belt + a set containing 2 weapons and an armor, they all give bonusses to eachother.
-much more creativity in crafting, for example: every crafted item must be made out of 1 rune, 2 gems (make em much more valuable first ofcourse), and maybe a charm, depending on combinations you get different results, also the item properties and lvl are taken into account, for example: magic gloves with life leech+ ruby+ falwless ruby+ rune with life related properties, + lg 32 life = a glove with maybe life leech, life enhancement depending on level, + life, etc. ofcourse chance is still taken into account so maybe u get a glove with only a few life related properties.
-maybe more creativity in making runewords (you only need to have the correct runes and item, the rest depends in wich order you place the runes, this doesnt completely alters the runeword though)
-dont know if this counts as items, but maybe tatoes or other body decoration. (with or without enhancing abilitys, dont want a charisma modifier though)
this is what i now can think of, maybe later have some more ideas.

*This sounds too much like Guild Wars.

*This sounds like set items already. Or are you referring to having different set items that gives bonuses anyways. Set items were placed in the storyline...as if one warrior possessing the items of previous champions...they gain their strength.

*This would be kind of cool...however...they're would be too many variables for the software to have...there must be limitations.

nope it sounds more like dia 1, (didnt play guild wars lol)
*This sounds like set items already. Or are you referring to having different set items that gives bonuses anyways. Set items were placed in the storyline...as if one warrior possessing the items of previous champions...they gain their strength.
im referring to people getting bonusses for wearing 2 or more complete sets, or even set items of different sets combined.
*This would be kind of cool...however...they're would be too many variables for the software to have...there must be limitations.
i know it sounds a bit too ambitious, but when you think about all the pre and suffixes and litteraly million combinations in dia 2 when it was released, it isnt that hard to get to this next step.
*Same answer as above.
here you are maybe right, because runewords need to be carefully balanced.
maybe you can have some variations on runewords (2-3 per runeword) that affect the runeword bonusses in small ways.
*This has already been discussed. It is in the master list.
i will check it out

i guess it would be pretty cool if you could have like...a tunic, and then over that, chain mail/ring mail, and then a breastplate, heavy armor, and a cape/cloak, and then a helmet and add stuff to that to customize it i suppose? idk.
Vanquish574

OH, and maybe you could change the color before you buy it and you could go to any armor shop and get it changed anytime for free. that would be kinda great right?

i would love color change, personalize name, and (for a fee) item stats. it would be like making custom sets.
angel/demon items would be sick too

Which brings up the "realism" argument. I personally want m characters to look cool, not realistic. And real medieval armor looks shitty most of the time, unless you're a knight in a jousting tournament.

[uote]And real medieval armor looks shitty most of the time, unless you're a knight in a jousting tournament.[/quote]
thats true, but there are some nice armors that arent tournamental. i have a book full of them.
i think it might be hard to show a cape over armor in games. infact i cant recall any game that has capes and armor in which the cape appears over the armor.
i would like to see capes and cloaks again in d3, but not as armor like they were in d1, rather more like they are in BGII.

NOTE:
Paper Doll. a term that refers to the picture of what your character looks like while wearing the items
as you can see fro mthe screenshot, this character is wearing a cape but it is not shown on the paper doll.

there could be gothic armor like from near the end of diablo 1. that was the coolest armor. that plus a gothic shield was the best armor.
also, if they didnt do it already, swords that have their own aura. like a light, dark, ice, fire, double damage, defense sword. and the defense swords could double as a shield and would have armor. so you could have 2 swords equipped and that would let you have 2 shields as well so you are basically invincible. i came up with an idea so i win, i suppose.
Elfen Lied
02-23-2007, 02:30 PM
they have gothic armor in d2, it doesnt look like it did in d1 but it is in the game.
2 swords, yes, 2 axes, yes, but 2 shields? that seems a bit much. the best defence is a good offence.
Ferret
02-23-2007, 04:36 PM
There should be countless combinations of equipment, because even though d2 has a lot, it always comes down to the same items. make full ssets more powerful compared to single uniques or something, because there is honestly no motivation whatsoever to gather all set items.
Space on the disc is also not an issue, we should have at least 8 times as much space with a dvd
also, certain items should not be tradeable, to motivate players to keep a charater instead of muling and starting over within days, always keeping the initial items.
would you guys continue to use the backpack type arrangement like in d2, or would you welcome a weight maximum? (like baldur's gate) i think it is unrealistic to have a leather robe limit you the same as a full set of metal armor in terms of carrying capacity.
Vanquish574
02-23-2007, 04:58 PM
NO. Im pretty sure i said that swords would have shield qualities. as in you can block with them and you can have 2 swords without losing the armor of a shield. you know? i think itd be useful, because it was bogus that with a 2 hand sword or big axe (really, any axe) you couldnt have a shield so it dragged you down. you get what im sayin, right? it could be useful. not 2 shields. 2 swords with blocking capabilities.
Elfen Lied
02-23-2007, 05:25 PM
well that is ok. but im not sure if it can be done, it depends on the graphics engine. i dont recall chars actually blocking attacks in LOD it made a sould if they hit your shield but you didnt actually block the hits.
Ferret
02-23-2007, 05:42 PM
two swords? its been done before -> look at the assassin claw block. should be manageable. the only thing that cant really block is bows. would be hard, u dont wanna get them cut in half during battle :)

well i sort of agree with the duel-wielding, but im not so sure if a mage should or a character similar to the amazon in d2.
Vanquish574
02-27-2007, 08:35 AM
well, if the swords could defend, that would be nice. and like have a barrier spell that costs like, half or more than half of your mana but protects you for like an entire epic/boss battle. it doesnt matter how long the battle is, be it 1 or 100 minutes (geez...), it will work for the whole battle. that would be cool.

just what was going to say:
let the amazon and the necro and whoever dual wield knives and daggers, but no swords or axes, only the barbarian is allowed to do that.
Elfen Lied

i have sais something like that. all classes should be able to weild two small weapons, daggers and knives but classes like the barb would be able to dual wield great swords.
