First of all though, it's been said that confusion is a charm effect, meaning that you cannot attack a charmed enemy because they're your ally. I guess we don't know if it works this way, but it may. If it does, Mass Confusion is much worse for getting new zombie dogs because you have to rely on the non-confused enemies to kill them. And keep in mind that mass confusion only confuses about 1/2 of the monsters in an area (by the looks of the videos of it). So to resurrect 4 dogs you have to cast confuse on 16 enemies. 8 will get confused and then all 8 have to die within 12sec in order for you to get just 4 dogs back (on average of course).
My guess is that addling toads would not resurrect zombie dogs... but who knows. At first I thought that rune effects would only apply to a specific ability, but that may be wrong.

they are not on your side. they have a chance to attack eachother or just keep attacking you. ive seen nothign saying you cant attack confused enemies.

How do you know they have a chance to still attack you even when confused?
This video is all I have to go on really... someone on here claimed that mass confusion was a charm effect and you couldn't attack charmed enemies though, so that's where I got that from.
It would certainly make the most sense for you to still be able to attack confused enemies and that's what I would expect. Because otherwise spamming an ability like addling toads would be really dumb.

The Ray of Frost rune is probably meant to only effect Ray of Frost, but is worded awkwardly. The Frost Nova rune I'm not so sure about.
In the video the WD didnt attack any mob that was confused, but that doesnt mean you cant.
Also, runes only affect that skill. The RoF rune you linked is just kinda poorly worded, which is nothing new on the calc.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"
Looking at the Mass Confusion update to the official D3 skill page it's unfortunately once again hard to tell if you can attack a confused target and if it's a charm effect. However, the fact that confused targets attack one another definitely gives evidence to the idea that it's not a charm effect and that you can attack a confused target. Not that it's any different from what most people probably thought, but just for clarification.
Of course Devolution (where you rez dogs from enemies killed while confused) would be pretty terrible if you couldn't attack the confused targets. It's already a questionable skill because you have to be fighting 16 enemies to get an average of 4 dogs back. And you have to kill the 8 confused enemies in 12sec, which isn't hard if they're low but still it has to be 16 enemies.

The last guy he kills is very obviously still confused. He stands there and turns his back and the WD runs up and gives him a good stabbing.
The WD does throw down a horrify at 0:10 which would affect the charmed mosters if it was possible to attack them. Unless of course blizzard made it so they can't be feared otherwise it's pointless if you use mass confusion and then fear you're own charmed monsters. Who knows?.
on the WD's part when he mass confusions, at the very end he stabs the last dude he confused. So unless he's got the most uncanny timing in attacks, you can attack confused enemies.
Yeah, it just seems like it's exactly 12sec later. So he could be spamming it so that when it drops he immediately attacks. But yeah, it's pretty much guaranteed in my opinion that you can attack confused enemies so this is kind of a conversation about nothing lol.
