I have been focusing really on grinding paragon and seem to be doing well on mp5 I am trying to figure out what to do to boost my dps without trashing my already low stats (see resists)
I am not a monk expert, but what is that set bonus ? Isnt the 4 piece set bonus a cost reduction for tempest rush ? is that the legacy version of the set ?
Anyway, get rid of it. The chest and belt are super crappy, have low stats and no resists. You can find rares with twice the stats and 75-80 all resis AND physical resist on top for little gold. Also get shoulders with more resist.
Mantra of evasion should be the damage mantra. I'd dump blinding flash for the bell. Look at my monk for the build ( in my signature ).
Get two 1-handers instead of the skorn. Atack speed is terrible with skorn. Use a wong-kim-lau or what the legendary fist weapon is called for the + lightening damage.
All your gear and specialy the skorn looks as if all you care about is how much dps your character sheet says. There are more important things in D3.
most of that gear was for when i was doing tempest rush, including the skorn which a friend from wow loaned me.
I totally get you on the damage on the character sheet comment. But is it worth it to lose 20k+ damage on the char sheet in order to switch two 2 1h weapons? or do you think i should make the weapon the last upgrade and try to get the rest of the gear better first?
As far as the build goes, i found it this weekend someplace while looking at my phone. (cant find the link now) it was a hefty guide about gearing and builds for different playstyles. I have liked having backlash on the mantra because it seemed to help things die quicker. but as i said i am totally open to suggestions.
the set bonus is from what i can tell more geared towards tempest rush because of the spirit cost reduction towards sweeping winds, and a 3 stack of sweeping wind with the rune giving you a spirit regen.
I will look at rares tonight. I get the mindset from wow to only look at the best color gear so i forget there are a lot of decent rares out there.
Your Skorn is fine. And your Dex is also fine. But you forgot to stack critical hit damage.
I would get physical resist bracers, then better gloves and amulets for a start.
I use a very similar setup: My DPS is 270'ish buffed with Deadly Reach//Foresight and Breath of Heaven//Blazing Wrath. Use Conviction//Overawe as your mantra.

From what I understand about that build you are playing, the main goal is to spawn as many tornado-thingies as possible and they should normaly be your main damage source. I tried twohanders and onehanders and it seems to me that you atack waaaaay faster with onehanders and also generate way more of the tornado thingies.
I dont know about the math though, maybe it evens out. For me it felt so different with onehanders that I never even considered using a twohander again.
But maybe I am totaly wrong with this, as I said, I am no monk expert.
I spent about 12m yesterday, I made 30 necks, and some gloves. I then got a few items off of the AH to try and up the resists along with health. through the process, I gained about 20k dps, and according to http://d3up.com/b/395133/sparkli i added about 100k on ehp since yesterday.
so the budget now is about 11-12m i know its a low budget i don't expect godly. I am unsure of direction to go now besides to keep looking at the AH, or just blow the rest trying to get perfect crafts.
last night i blew pretty much the rest of my cash, one seemingly good purchase that is the fist weapon, the other was a sword i relisted. http://d3up.com/b/39...5133/sparkli
thanks again for the suggestions. Time to build up the coffers again before more upgrades.
BTW is a WKL with 20 +% lightning damage @956ish dps going to be worth it over the echoing fury i am using?
If you havent already found a solution I may be able to offer a little advice: Go to the auction house and look up two things, trifecta gloves with dex and a generic trifecta ring. put the max buyout at 8m a piece (you'll find that the cost effectiveness of upgrades really begins to diminish as you go higher and higher... marginal gains for large amounts of gold.) Without typing a novel on here, by searching the trifecta gloves and ring you're going to add in one major damage modifier that you are lacking in those particular areas - two for the ring, which has avg dmg and CC but no CD or AS - what I recommend doing, is going into the hardcore chat channel and linking a few different pieces and then going into a game and directly comparing them by clicking the link you posted in the chat channel. This will show you exactly what kind of increase to expect on your character sheet dps. I saw that the gloves have a really high amount of dex, however, I'm pretty convinced a set with half the dex and all 3 major modifiers would be better. I know for certain that ring can be upgraded. Hope this helps.
edit -- within budget feel free to compare generic trifecta rings + dex and generic trifecta ring + avg dmg whatever has the best deal/bang for the buck. try and maintain a high attacks per second to crit often and generate a lot of tornado's that tick for damage very often.
