After playing several other games, I finally picked up Di3blo again.
I'm especially being pulled to the idea of giving Hardcore a try and enjoy it fully.
Once the weekly maintenance (EU) is over, the first HC character will be created and the adventures shall begin! (Not sure which class yet tho).
The reason for this topic would be to gather as much information, tips and suggestions as possible.
I'm quite sure I could find all kinds of tips around but I will be visiting and posting here as well so it's sort of a introduction at the same time.
Venturing through the acts will be tougher and I would prefer to keep my first character alive :3
Do you have any tips or suggestions for a "alright" player for Hardcore gameplay?

mainly depends what class you're gonna play... barb / monk / DH use a shield. MP1-5 normal shouldn't be too bad to do, i played a DH through normal and nightmare MP10, with a shield. it worked out pretty well. only thing i can tell you is, clear everything in every area, and stack vit gems as much as possible. it's gonna be a slow start if you've never done HC before, because you have no gold and no gems. expect to die. when i started, i played self found, which worked out well on a few characters, until i hit hell. then i got raped. don't do self found, buy weapons whenever you can afford them, and socket them with a ruby or amethyst depending on class. but ultimately, the only tip i can really give, is just have fun.

TBH, I'd refrain from even looking at the AH. Buying gear from the AH ruins the entire purpose of this game, in my experience anyway. The second I buy something from the AH, I immediately stop enjoying my character. I mean, this is just my opinion, but I'd stay far far away from the AH.
well, yes, that's true, and same here in that regard. notice i said only weapons. your weapon is your absolute highest DPS boost. it's damn near impossible to find rares before level 60, and especially when you get to mid nightmare, your weapons become very obsolete compared to the amount of health stuff has, and how much damage it does to you (since you also can't get good enough gear in time; by that i mean AR gear and other things of the sort). so the better your weapon is, the easier of a time you have when you hit that "wall"
It's not only feasible, it's also a lot more fun. MP1 and 2 are probably the better difficulties for people who have a little experience with the game.
i did a DH MP10 from quest 1 norm to hell... i dropped it down to MP5 for hell, though, so i mean it's mostly your play style... you'll take longer to kill stuff, but if you build right, your character will be a friggin tank
