Firstly I would like to say hello to everyone, longtime reader/lurker turned firstime poster.
I was wondering if anyone knows what happens when you die in hardcore?
You have but one life eager hero. If you should die, though your deeds be remembered, you shall not return again. Customer Service will not revive a fallen Hardcore Hero for any reason.
From this quote I assume when you die thats the character finished and you have to start from scratch again? Do you get any of the items that are held on the charcter or in its stashes back?
Thanks for the quick reply guys. So what is the perks of hardcore? Better loot or is it for the sheer challenge? I find it a game mode that would intrest me later on.
Well that's mostly correct you can choose to allow one of your fellow warriors to loot your dead corpse for your immediate items (the ones you are wearing) but you have to allow that before you die.
Yeah if you die while playing alone or without allowing the loot then you lose everything outside of the stash. Im pretty sure that they kept the allow looting idea from D2

They annoucned at blizzcon that this will no longer be an option (unless it's changed since then).
Once you're dead, you're dead. Nothing on your character survives, only the items in your stash and your gold.
Kinda doesn't make sense for them to have corpse looting in D3.
Compare it to D2 abit quickly.
In d2 you would lose the entire stash aswell as the contents of your inventory, with D3 having corpse looting you would basically not lose anything aside from what you recently picked up.
Indeed...This is also a way for them to keep the value of items in Hardcore.
An army sent by blizzard comes directly to your house just to take out your computer(s) to ensure you can not log back in and yeah you're character is deleted.
Oh glorious hardcore, the "customer service will not restore your character under any circumstance" is a bit worrying though, being an australian player it brings back memories in d2 running a level 90 hardcore assassin just doing some normal farming OMG!#$!#$ LAG WALL QUIT GAME BEFORE DEAD!. then to find out you werent fast enough and your character is dead to something you have no control over. Now THAT was the most frustrating thing about d2 hardcore for me, though I'm sure there will be some sort of fail safe for dc's because otherwise ill be constantly scared of my dodgey internet when playing

The only, but awsome, perk you get is having WAY more fun with your character :).

You lose all the items you have on you and in your stash, so you better put the valuable stuff you find into the shared stash (you don't lose those).

But anyway, dying in HC is fun. I "suicided" several of my 90+ HC chars back in d2, just for the kicks :).
Or the close call when you get into town, poisoned, with 1hp remaining
