I'm running on a Core i5/8gig Ram/Intel 510 SSD/GeForce 330GT M 512megs/ currently on my Macbook Pro. I'm curious to see if anyone else has a similar configuration that may be able to point out performance impressions. I'd prefer to sell off my tower PC and just use my Macbook since D3 is pretty much the only game I'll be playing for the foreseeable future. It ran WoW just fine, so I'm guessing it will run D3 well given how optimized it is, but if there is any anecdotal impressions out there, I'd love to hear about them!
I think alot of people replying here forget that 2560x1440 is almost double the pixels as 1080p. Which means half the frame rate on the same GPU.
Current generation (and in all likelyhood next generation also) laptop GPUs can't max out D3 at this resolution with playable frame rates. Even a lot of desktop GPUs will struggle.
In my experience, you gain a lot of speed by turning down/off shadows. That effect doesn't make a big difference in the visuals, but massively improves frame rate.
I also have Diablo 3 on my Mac Book Pro 2011.
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
2.7 G.Hz Intel Core i7
4 GB
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3
Before I kept it on Snow Lep. because that was the only way I could play Old game on the mac, I.e Diablo 2 and One.
But when I got into Diablo 3 beta, the old OS, the graphic is pretty bad especially for the ground lol it is black. So I updated back to Lion and everything work smooth. Depend on your connection too, but for me on medium setting it run smooth with 2 ppl, but I have to set it to LOW setting for 4 ppl, but I don't notice any diff when it is all low setting imo, so it is all good.

If you've got a MacBook Pro you've definitely got a better GPU than the Intel HD you've listed.
Mac's turn off their "powerful" GPU to save battery/heat when you're not gaming.
If you dig deeper into your tech specs (check the Apple website too), I think you'll find you're running an ATI 6xxx type video card, with probably 512-1GB of VRAM.

That's not how it works. It does take more power than a lower res display, but it certainly isn't half.

Hardly. The 6750M in my Macbook Pro runs the res just fine. In fact, mobile GPUs have been able to push that res just fine for two-three years now.

There's a big difference between supporting 2560x1440 and getting 60FPS in Diablo 3 max detail at that resolution. That's what the original poster is talking about.

Nowhere does he state D3 needs to run with everything on high at 60fps. He simply asked how well it runs. In my case, the 6750M does run it just fine with everything on high. His gpu isn't quite as good, but it's a start.
I've read of people running a Mac Mini at that res with a 9400M, which is older than the ops gpu. They're experience is fine if everything is running on low.
Ha. Bagstone.
Yessir I do!
2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT (512 MB)
Would that help you at all or not, I don't really know how to compare them.
Absolutely, I'd love to hear your impressions.

I run at 1920x1280 (1080p for you console players) and have all settings at high (except for shadows at medium).
Runs fine! There are some stutters, but that's the same Beta-stutters that everyone is reporting no matter the machine.
Loving it!
I5-2430M @ 2.4Ghz
Intel HD3000

Runs 20-30 FPS on lowest settings.
Its playable. But thats all i can say tbh
