It seems to take 2-3 seconds to identify a single item. By now, many of us have wasted HOURS in "the void" of waiting there, patiently, for it to be identified. Most rares, as many have discussed; are complete junk. Why not allow for us to ID the junk faster so that we can merc it??? PLEASE fix this ASAP. I understand that your initial intention with the concept was because you felt the few second wait is an "anticipation" of something great to come. Well, the truth is, we are over it. We have next to no expectation what so ever that the item we are identifying is going to be halfway decent. I'm not asking for better loot, i'm asking to get rid of this annoying process of time it takes to ID an item. A few ideas: Hold SHIFT and right click, identifies entire inventory. Allow for craftsman to have a ID inventory button. OR just make it be instant! Like in D2, only no scrolls. PLEASE HELP, a friend of mine joked the other day that he is about to stop piking up rares altogether. LOL LOL LOL
I've actually stopped picking up rares with the exception of ilvl 63 stuff. But yea I think making it really short will help keep the unwrapping feeling while not taking a couple minutes per full backpack lol.
Again, I'm not against the loot system at all. I personally think it should remain unchanged, considering how going through so much junk makes the extremely rare Godly items that much more Godly. I just don't wanna waste more time than I have to on the in-between time of picking up and selling everything else! Who agrees with me? Let's get noticed and get the change we need!
I'm with you. Just finished a 3hrs farm run and spend roughly 5mins with ID'ing. Doesn't sound much? But it's a waste of time. GIEEEEEEEEEEF BACK DECARD for instant ID'ing the whole inv <3
Exactly! I'm near that point, only I currently pick up 62 items as well. But even with that, I have a full load quite soon and COMPLETELY DESPISE the anticipation of sitting in town waiting to ID it all. COMPLETELY DESPISE it.
I can understand Blizzard's position that they already made D2, and that they wanted to make D3, not another D2.
But, some facts must be faced - some things were done so well in D2 that having anything less just sucks. D2's batch-ID'ing via Cain is something that's absolutely necessary in this game IMO, and I see absolutely no reason not to have it.
I really hope to see this fixed in a future patch. The "opening a present" argument is so stupid. Most players that farm will ID all of their rares at the same time and then look through the trash to see if there are any gems in there. There is no "opening a present" feeling with the current system. No one would be upset if the timer was removed completely.
Like already mentioned there will be 1/3rd of the current cast time on ID, so 5m will fall down to 1m 40 sec approximately. In addition to that, there now seems to be added a "progression of gear" so it will actually be more interesting with ID since you will get better loots (based on my theory)
seems like a first step to fix this issue will be done in 1.05:
The cast time for identifying Rare items has been reduced to 1 second
The cast time for identifying Legendary items has been increased to 4 seconds
Well i didnt notice this in the patch notes but this will sure help!!!
I usually pick up all rares and stash them until i am done with my circuit and then ID them but 95% of the time is wasted time as every1 said.
Only partially addressed. I either wanted a "instantly identify all rares" button or auto identification.
And there is no option to filter drops based on item level. Basically, if it's below level 61, I don't even want to see it on the ground. If it's white or blue, don't want to see it.
IDing is part of the diablo charm, I'm glad they haven't added an ID all button, people are so stressed playing this game it seems, they don't even have 1 second to spare.

It's not like you would be forced to use it, so I don't understand that argument.
The problem is that you find a ridiculously large amount of rares per hour... and the vast majority of them (if not all) are garbage. No one wants to spend time ID'ing junk constantly.

It will be even worse next patch if we need to pick up ALL rares that drop in Act 3 as well. The 1 second change helps but if we're picking up 3x as many rares, then the net result is the same amount of time wasted IDing crappy items.
I like to compare it to opening your Christmas presents. Plus, there's nothing more awesome than heading to town without an inventory filled of unid'd rares. Might just be me though.

Yeah, but with one twist; on Christmas morning you find 10,000 presents under the tree, one of which has an actual present in it. The rest contain feces. Enjoy!

In Diablo 2 Cain would identify all items on you. They need to have a NPC do it. Problem solved.
They still dont get it , we dont have subscriptions here , so time consumers should be removed .

If, on top of that, you are wasting your time cuz how itemization works.. well, those 45 seconds idyng stuff is extremly boring.
