When you die in D3 is there a penalty in gold or xp. I know there is a short cooldown.

Your items get damaged. It's basically a gold penalty, depending on the repair cost of your items.

Cooldown to dying?

10% durability loss to all items worn when you died. That's pretty much it.

I personally didn't die at all in the beta so I don't know if you have to run back, or if you just respawn at a checkpoint. But if you're playing with someone else, they can resurrect you.

i believe just damage to gear and when wearing end game gear that becomes very expencive so not much of a penalty from normal through nightmare but still try your best to stay alive

yep you can't ie again before 10 min!

no what he meant is that there is a short CD before you can resurrect if you die too often kinda like in WoW.

in the beta IIRC there was nothing except that CD, the durability loss and the fact that you had to cam back were you were, but since monsters were dead along the way...

I kinda hope that they change it on later difficulties, we'll have to see

Is there really? Never died in beta, so I don't know. I'm actually surprised that it makes you wait at all, since you can run back and finish off mobs before their health comes back.

When I died in the beta (to see what it was like) you were ghosty for a few seconds upon respawning, then you became corporeal. I guess it's a temporary invulnerability?
