I'm actually wondering why everyone is so not believing the numbers.
Bizz said that inferno will so kick people's ass.
everyone said that this is exeggarated.
Then they said that no one of the internal testers managed it to beat inferno.
everyone was calling them to have bad testers.
then they said that they had a dedicated testing team just to ensure that inferno really is a damn challenge + someone who can be trusted when it comes to accuracy of numbers in guides gave the actual numbers for some monsters.
and now people calling the numbers bullshit and fake.
wtf is wrong with people nowadays. I bet, even if everyone would have had the experience of inferno themselfs, they still wouldn't believe it, would they?
gamers nowadays are such pricks sometimes... it is disgusting.
The more I think about it, the more I'm getting worried that Inferno will be a 1-2 shot feast. I was really hoping for skilled play and tactical uses of health globes. That all goes out the window if we get 1-2 shot. The evidence is starting to pile up though... I mean... even with 60% DR, you'll get 2 shot by a single accursed.... and that's just talking about if you're fighting a single monster... well guess what? You'll be fighting more than a single monster at a time. =\

wow, thanks for proving
Anyone who disagrees automatically assumed to be 'ignorant mass'
for me
but more importantly, do you have any idea how much your risking by basing your claim on something stupid as [you won't even be able to beat nightmare?]
or are you one of those people who don't take responsibility for their own statements?
I'm not reall good with math but there is a point in the witch doctor vid (1:37) where it displays the damage from the items he just put on.
(2526.75)
Looking at one of is Looking at this build (Example somethin I threw togther)
One of his pet's Gargantuan which deals 25% damage which is around 632 and the runed Big stinker does 379 per second to enemies around him/it.
Firebomb does 85% (2147.75) + the pyrogeist rune 1179.15 each second for 3 seconds (3537.45 total 140%)
Acid cloud does 2526.75 around the area of effect + acid rain rune 632 for each second for 3 seconds (1895 total 75%)
Locust swarm with searing locusts 480% (12128.4) over 8 seconds (1516.05 each second) As I understand this certain skill are only effected by it's rune not both skill and rune.
Haunt does 575% (14528) damage over 12 seconds (1211 per second for 12 seconds)
Zombie dogs does (pitifull) 9% (227) each followed by an addtional 9% (227) over 3 seconds. (75)
Assuming that this is for 1 mob that's 39,590 not including the pierce the Veil passive which does 20% more damage which brings it to around 47,508 damage. + I'm sure you would cast more firebombs and additional skills over say a 8 12 second fight
That's still prett good damage for the beggining of inferno.....Maybe as I think the vids were recorded in hell but who knows.
Anyway after all this end game will be surely be dependant on gear + gems and enhants to really survive inferno. I love the challenge I'm getting pretty antsy to finally see what we will be up against in NM, Hell and inferno.
The more I think about it, the more I'm getting worried that Inferno will be a 1-2 shot feast. I was really hoping for skilled play and tactical uses of health globes. I hope I'm wrong.
It might be a 1-3 shot fest until you get better gear. A lot of people don't seem to remember how hard monsters hit in Hell difficulty in Diablo 2. When you first came out of Nightmare and into Hell even the basic zombies could hit you for a massive chunk of your life.
Did you all not play D2, or has it been so long that you just forgot?

Once again I find myself agreeing with you completely. There is a huge difference between hard and simply badly designed. If everything in inferno just 1-2 shots you then its not hard, its badly designed.
I am not one that is much on concept of luck, as the people who generally bring up luck, are just making an excuse for their own lack of skill. Everything in this universe is a probability, some are just more skilled at predicting the future. In game play you generally want to keep the unforeseeable circumstances to a minimum though. On the other hand, having the vast majority of monsters capable of 1-2 shotting players is doing the exact opposite. Again its not hard, its merely really badly design. There are a plethora of ways to make things challenging without making them rely on unforeseeable chances.
Another problem I see down the road is coop. If you add up all the buffs and debuffs possible, then it becomes quite clear that coordinated coop is going to absolutely dominate the single player scene. From what I can tell, the game won't be balanced on this front at all, which puts these people MILES ahead in the economy and game play. Its starting to look like you need to group up or go home.

Did you see the math I posted? Going from 20,000 Hp to 30,000 Ho did NOTHING in the scenario proposed. The DH still goit 2 shot instagibbed. If you can't survive one extra hit by gaining 10,000 HP, 50% hp, then something is terribly wrong.
Diablo2 monsters did not 1-2 shot you. The real challenge to D2 was finding the secret tricks that made your character nearly invincible.
I can hardly believe 170k damage from inferno monsters..Getting one-shotted isn't fun OR hard.. it's just stupid.
That is why people need to focus on defense and utility stats/skills not only damage.
I am going to laugh so hard when you survival mode players start crying like little bitches.

Diablo 2 monsters didn't 1-2 shot you? You ever try an untwinked build? You know, without your life charms, shako, HoTO, etc? Yeah, probably not.
I think this is fantastic. It's a really big challenge to complete the end game content in D3 and that's how it should be. You wouldn't want to just blaze through it would you? That's what normal is for.

I have a feeling the 170k hitting one will have a very distinguishable animation (a pretty long one) before it actually attacks. (considering its attack is SO much stronger than the others)
Like charging up his beak? or something. Of course he would be rooted while charging up his attack.
then you would be able to look at it and get away from its attack range, and then its not about getting unlucky as melee (unless you face a waller >.<) its about you not being able to see it happening.
Of course, it should be very distinguishable even in the midst of battle.
EDIT: Im pretty sure Jay Wilson mentioned in a tweet that some abilities will not be tied with others because it was almost impossible to deal with. Maybe this is the case with this creature +waller?
If you have to farm gear in Act4 hell for a long time before moving onto Act1 Inferno, and so on with each act...that is a very, very GOOD thing.
Everyone complaining about how they imagine game play will be like because they saw one big number: settle the hell down, and hold off on the whining until you've actually played it.

Everyone's comparing a monster's Hell stats to Inferno stats and going "WOW what a big jump!" You can't compare Act IV Hell to Act IV Inferno and say that you're going to get creamed. Look at this:
Armaddon Act IV Hell: 54k-76k health, 14k damage
Arachnid Horror Act I Inferno: 49k-81k health, 18k damage
When you look at it that way, it doesn't look like a big jump at all. Now...
in this thread, there is this post i just quoted, and there are 100 posts full of imagination
a simple fallen one/devilkin/carver or whatever his name is wont one shot you in inferno, he will be just a little bit harder than the previous monsters you killed - in act 4 hell
same thing with that guy in act 4 inferno that does 170k, if you have managed to get to him, that means you didnt have a problem with the guys hitting for 150k or 120k just an area before him
The more I think about it, the more I'm getting worried that Inferno will be a 1-2 shot feast. I was really hoping for skilled play and tactical uses of health globes. Diablo 3 always has been, and always will be, designed as a multiplayer cooperative game. If this makes you unhappy, there's always torchlight 2, path of exile, darkspore, etc out there that will be more to your liking. Concering the 1-2 shot issue, thats how it was at first in hell in diablo 2. The simple solution to this problem is, well, don't get hit. Ever class has at least one major form of CC, and one major defensive cooldown for those O-shit moments. Also, as blizzard has stated time and time again, you.. will.. die. Period. Repeatedly. Over and over. It makes the game nigh impossible, sure. But you can always farm Hell, and get plenty of remarkable gear. Inferno is the equivelent of heroic mode raids in WoW. Didn't you ever come across a MSLE enchanted rare in d2 before 1.1? Good lord.. I remember having tgods, 85% LR, and just over 5k, and getting 1 shot in HC by MSLE. You know what the answer was? Run. Just fking run.
Also, consider the fact that by the time you are farming inferno, you will have capped DR, most likely. So 25% of 170k is only 42,500. Then add in damage debuffs from player skills, and you can easily get that down to ~36k, and then you factor in that most players will have at least 30% dodge.. It seems perfectly reasonable to me.
I'd like to add, what Blizzard game comes to mind that doesn't work in terms of damage of monsters/to fun/to being able to play the damn game. One guy cited knowing tricks to survive, and all the other things you did in D2 to make the game doable. Well guess what no one has played the game yet... I'm sure there are all those things to exploit and use to your benefit in this next instalment.
People talking about broken game design before even trying the damn game is insane. Blizzard really is going to have its hands full if people are whining before they even attempt the game.
People need to cool their jets, wait 10 days, and then make an opinion months down the road when no one has beaten Inferno. But I seriously doubt that'll happen... and if it does guess what, Blizzard will have an answer for that. Imagine that hey, the company that's been making awesome games for this amount of time being able to balance a game.
