I have seen so many loyal fans on these forums just itching for an invite to the Diablo III beta. Just a taste of what is to come....that's all anyone wants. We'll test everything possible, play through every class 100 times each, whatever it takes. We won't be like those "other" testers. We'll actually test things instead of playing.
Alas, most of us won't get in. That's the reality of the situation. So where we go from here? What will we do when we finally realize that we weren't lucky enough to win?
Some will rage. We've seen a lot of this reaction already on various sites. "I will not buy the game. It's garbage"
Some will feel sorry for themselves. "I am a devoted fan for the last xx years. I deserve to test the game."
Others will disappear only to be heard from again the next time invites start going out or contests are announced.
And still others will continue on with their normal routine. Diablo III videos on Force Strategy Gaming, forums here/DiabloIII.com./etc., whatever else is out there for people to do while we obsess over the next greatest work of art from the best damn gaming company in the world.
To be honest, I have found myself in every one of these categories at one time or another while waiting for Diablo III to be released. All I can tell you is that life goes on, the world keeps on turning and there are thousands and thousands of us out here. We may not have the beta, but we will at some point have the game. And that is the most important thing.
These people (including me) get to play the game when it's released without the maaany flaws/bugs of the beta (I know there are a crapload of bugs, minor yet still annoying) and enjoy actual finished difficulty, correct drop rates, possibility of getting a legendary from breaking a barrel or turning over a lonely corpse, completed lore, and get to keep all the hard work you do to level up your character (people in the beta have had their dozens of hours of playtime wiped what, 7-8 times already?).
Yes, getting a "taste" of how the game feels is amazing, and seeing the recent rune changes I wanted to try them desperatly too, but I think something good might come out of not being able to (not being story spoiled beforehand and not having the wrong image with the game's far from complete content and client bugs/bnet errors).
Stay strong, don't give up on the game. It might turn out to be truly amazing.
I won't be too let down if I don't win one. I did want to help test out the game before the release, and to play with it to see how it compares with D2. At least I will get a free copy of the game when it does come out though.
If I don't get a beta key I won't be terribly upset. I would love to play it but I think the extended wait for the game and the amount of information flee flowing from the people who do get to play the beta means I don't think there would be much surprise to be found in the limited content you get to see.
What would be great about being able to play the beta is feeling the atmosphere and being able to interact with the world first hand.
If I don't get a key then I'll just concentrate on all my studies (I have 18 assignments to do this semester) and play the game when it's released, if I do get one I'll be all over it like a dog on a shmacko.

I've been through the similar process. yes, I haven't got luck to be invited yet. however, there is still posibility that I could be the next one.
I am at the stage which I feel less desperate as I used be. my routine is visiting this forum during lunch break to see what's new. when I get home after work, check my emails and Battle account to see if there is any luck. then watch Force Feed or game plays.
before bed, I normally put my headset on and have either monk game play or barbarian game play on till I am asleep.as Force said "keep watching, keep owning" I love it!!!
this is the reality and I just have accept that I have to waiting untill the game release. At least, I have something to expect for.
Continue to do what I've done all through the release. Watch videos, check this site daily for news and bask in the awesomeness that is the knowledge that we shall "soon" have the full game in our hands
just play diablo 2 or whatever it is your doing in the mean time. I can definitely tell that when you get the
actual game you will be impressed a heck of alot more than playing 13 lvls.
Well the hard fact is not all of us will get a beta invite But on the bright side its not like the game is still years off. There is talk of private emulator/servers but from everything ive heard about them they are big ridden and not worth the download. A friend of mine got one going and yeah its more trouble to get working than its worth, mainly due to serious lack of features and bugs and bugs and did i mention the bugs.
Ill be taking comfort with some Gentleman Jack and some Beta patch 13 youtube movies.

I've been attempting to acquire a beta key since they started giving them away back in late 2011. Part of me is glad that I haven't gotten one since the game will be completely fresh to the feel when it comes out "soon" but I do wish I were able to help provide better input towards the finished game, who doesn't though is the question
To be honest I'm glad we have such great support and info for what's happening in the game from sites like this. I've pretty much known every step the game has taken since the beta release. I still would love to try out the feel of the game on my own though, but as the topic of the forum is "what happens if you don't get a beta key" I will probably just be more happy when the game finally is released and hope that blizzard feels confident with their game. I just pray that their community managers make it out alive. I seriously cannot tell you how many times they've had to say "soon" or "when it's done" the funny things is we can't help but ask.
Anyway, good luck to us all, and to all a goodnight.
Well if i don't win a key, i will continue to watch streams and youtube till the game goes out Then i ll get my CE and play till the end of the world (21 Dec) Thats my plan
I will *shrug*, and wait it out until release day..
Played the WoW and SCII betas, which were both fun, but in the end you lose all your progress anyway! I'm sure I'll survive if I don't get one, though if I did, I do have plenty of sick leave ;]
Well i just got a key from this site, im not from USA, so i came here to tell you it can happen, the contest (i believe) is still not over, and todays news gave us many new contest to get keys from, so the chance is there, saddly not of you will be able to play and i completly understand how you feel, and even though what im gonna say wont change much but remember, at least the game is coming really soon, in max 4 month, if nothing major goes wrong, so please, stick around.
I'll try find as much bugs and annoyances as possible to make the best diablo 3 we can have.
Life goes on, i mean would be really great to get a key, but eh if you dont it's not end of world, or is it this year ?
On a serious note, really hope they tell release date soon so that we can all enjoy in game, or if nothing else hopefully most of us who really want get lucky and get beta in one of contests.
It will be the end of the world. Or there wont be any more kittens. Each day I dont win a key I'm killing a kitten.
Anyone got a spare kitty? Just need em for a week.
I apologize to those of you that felt I was being a Fanboi. When I referred to Diablo III as the "next greatest work of art from the best damn gaming company in the world" that is truly how I feel. Blizzard games (so far imo) have been the best i've played. So I do consider them artists as far as making games goes. I have found none better to date with the consistency Blizzard has shown.
The whole point of the post was to let other people know that we are all in the same boat. Some of them will get the beta keys, some will not. It's not the end of the world, and as much as we all like to think we would be the best testers or would put more time/effort into testing, we can't all get in. Keep the faith and enjoy the game when it is released.

My 2 cents

So either end of the world, or no more kitties.
