The topic currently has people talking about how botting will effect D3. Botting to some, killed d2. It killed or hurt a good deal of Diablo 2 to them. Stuff like this are things users want to talk about. They should be allowed to talk about.
However, what we don't allow is the botting itself / information on how to bot..ect
If
A link to the bot
Information on how to get the bot
Information on how to get information
Information how to setup a bot
...ect
If info like that is given, those threads/posts get removed instantly. We also check all videos/links to make sure that information is not provided in any form.
Right now, none of that information is provided, and the community as a whole, finds this topic to be big deal. Thous we are allowing it as long as its stays a discussion like it is now.
Actually I think you don't have a leg to stand on. What are you trying to say? Being vague and reluctant to elaborate isn't a very constructive way to have sensible discussion.
Ok I'll elaborate on something.
I think unless you work for blizzard you wouldn't put so much time and effort into researching cheats unless you intended on using them yourself.
How many bots did you run in D2?
I hardly doubt your a whiteknight here to save us all.
I like to read about hacks just like everything else Diablo stuff. Yet I´m never gonna use any hack, and didn´t use any at D2.
Okay I got the waypoints to FoM but I dont consider that as the same thing. I even took away my rings and amulet at patch 14 because it felt like I was cheating to wearing them.
I think Diablo is a game where you get banned very quickly if you cheat...
I'm glad you brought up the whole FoM gate glitch.
(I know its beta and thats what it is for to find bugs.)
But for the sake of argument lets say it was retail.
Now if he reported that in a private channel to blizzard instead of telling all his friends and making posts every where about it. Blizzard could have stopped it without the whole beta trying exploit. Causing a wp wipe for all.
Now what if it was dupe method or something worse. What kind of damage would it have done before it got fixed?
The way i see it hackers/cheaters alot of them are lazy. hence the reason for botting. They dont want to put in the work.
So many of them wont do alot of research into it becaus ethey are lazy. Instead they will just wait for people to post about it on the forums.
So please dont help the lazy hackers by do the research for them and posting about it.
If you want to help stop cheating send your info to blizzard directly.

LoL.
I never ran bots in D2, but boy did I bot a lot in WoW. There's no secret there, I've admitted to that many times on this forum. I sold gold (about a mill), I botted for a couple years, and wallhacked/speedhacked for even longer. But that was in wow, and I don't intend to do it in D3, unless it becomes way too big like it did in WoW. If you can't beat them, join them.
I'm not a whiteknight no, all I said was that I report all exploits and such that I find in D3. I do that because I want the game to be as clean as it can be, but if it turns to shit I wont hesitate.
Now back to my previous post you never answered to, I was asking for an elaboration. What is it I don't understand?
Wow an admitted cheater. You have just lost all credibilty.
No matter how good you claim you intentions to be.
PS I hate gold sellers for various reasons, and I hate more those who buy from them. 2 very close friends of mine bought gold in WoW (a huge amount actually) and one of them after a year or so got phished, what I told him in hindsight was he deserved it for buying gold and supporting those people.
Yeah, I think that buying from 3rd parties just put you on their rich guy list and ensure hacking attempts after a while so you buy gold from them again after your account is stolen.

Yes I agree, but the thing is that I watched him as he sold everything my friend's main had, even the soulbound gear to get like 100g (at WotLK - like 10' questing). It was a very very sad sight, and this is what happens to other people for you to buy that gold. By supporting these people, you bring it on yourself more or less...
Yes, this market is like a real world. There will be bad elements who sell gold etc like we have thugs. But there is Blizzard and we have police. Our market is somehow alive and WoW market is too. I don't think we should worry to much. D2 times should not come back but some bad element will stay and avoid capture for a while (like police have limited resources, same goes for Blizzard. It must stay economically efficient).
Wow an admitted cheater. You have just lost all credibilty.

You sir are the enemy!
Reading through this thread, I think he has a lot more credibility than you do at this point. He's giving straight-up answers and not avoiding a healthy discussion, whereas you seem to be looking for excuses to not have to defend your point of view. He could be a serial murderer and still make a good point, and a complete saint could be worthless to the discussion if he won't express the reasons behind his views.
I think it's good to get this stuff out in the open. I'd prefer to be educated on what the signs are of people around me cheating so I can make reasonable decisions on what to report. Pulling a blanket over the whole thing only helps the people abusing the system.

You two guys are defending an admitted cheater. One who has clearly said he has cheated in other games and will do the same in d3 if it doesnt live up to his standards.
Its clear that you two either love people who cheat or are cheaters yourselves.
So you now have no credibilty either.
btw i read your insults, but im going to ignore them sence clearly your intellect is superior to mine.

logical enough for you?
Have you looked up what ad hominem means? In an argument you can't just say the other persons point is invalid based on anything other than the point itself.

Like, it's logic 101 man
Be silent with your blashemy, heretic. Your so-called "logic" has no place in this witch hunt. LOL!
I think this portion of the discussion is getting circular. You are saying that if someone has ever cheated in a past game, their opinion on this topic is invalid by default. But that is a completely illogical assumption.
It's easy to prove that it is illogical. Here let's try:
Is it possible for someone that cheated in a past video game to make a valid point in a debate?

Yes.
There! Proven.
But how can you trust him to not lie to make his point?
After he has admitted to being dishonest.
If someone intended to lie their way through a debate, would they even bother to admit past cheating? It would be easier just to not say it, right?
And everyone is capable of the truth or lies. If everyone who has ever lied or violated a license aggreemet in a software product can be ignored in debates, there woud be very few people left with a valid opinion.
Plus, like someone said earlier, you can't just invalidate an objective point by saying someone cheated once. You have to demonstrate that what they are saying doesn't make sense.
But I have MAME, BSNES, and NEStopia installed on my machine, so I guess in your world my opinion doesn't count anyway.
