Man I feel you, my monk is really going to suffer with the nerf to my piercing punch that goes through everyone and hits them 4 times and costs almost nothing and can be done from across the map.
I really don't know what I am going to do....I don't want to quit eating with my left hand and use my keyboard, but this nerf almost directly requires it.
WTF BLIZZARD, YOU TRYING TO MAKE ME USE TWO HANDS? THIS IS UNFAIR! YOU ARE JUST GOING TO MAKE ME RAGEQUIT AND PUBLICALLY POST IN HERE THAT YOU LOST A CUSTOMER!
I hope the don't buff the DH skill that adds 50% armor to my already insanely high armor I get from my passive that buffs off my main attribute, not to mention the shield that has 1200 armor, so I'm rocking about 82% damage reduction - O WAIT no the monk has that...
You are a tank, you won't do as much as a DPS EVER, stop complaining to bliz to nerf us and play your class.
I really dont understand the logic behind this. If the ability was hitting one target multiple times. i thought it was implied that it depended on the mass fo the target. Smaller target less procs and so forth. Would had been better to increase the cost of the ability to leverage the damage output. I feel sometimes that the developers tasked with implementing the skills were working independently per skill for them not to see this coming. A proper alpha and beta would had revealed this. Maybe next time Blizz.
Notice the "nerf" as in the "bug fix" section? I don't think blizzard intended it to hit multiple times. It's the counter part to lightning ... it hits harder ... it heals ... and it still might be viable. I personally hated losing the *range* of the lightning, but I liked the heal. I am thinking I am going to keep this as an option.
honestly, i wish they just buffed SOMETHING ELSE in addition to making nether tentacles useless. Guess my dh will gather dust till they eventrually get buffed out of worthlessness
But ball lightning multihits for 2x but only doesn't like 70% per hit. Don't trust tooltips.
Yup, Ball of lightning does roughly half the 155% weapon dmg per tick. That tooptip is very misleading. Also note that it's lightning dmg and elites with "Electrified" affix got huge amount of lightning res.

Why you mad bro? Don't like scumming with the monks?
I always play ranged in most of my games since ultima IV (iolo) was my first pick up so I can't say much about op or not other than I have not been exploiting at all and recently spent real money on items so I could do some elite farming of act 3 inferno as the developer intended. I could not afford awesome ias gear so my DH had 1.97 attack speed and has 40k dps without SS I finally started to get some decent drops from act 3 inferno however being old and less responsive I do die about 5 times each elite pack run of about 12-14 packs. Currently each run will cost me about 12k-20k in repairs but I seem to break even I have played almost 200 hours and have never gotten to 1 million gold in my account. I hover around 500k consistently. My fear is that I could actually run out of gold with increased repair costs and resort to buying gold from the farmers and risk account ban. This is a real concern for me since gold is not available on rmah yet. I am in agreement with all changes of the patch except the increased repair cost trust me this may make the game very prohibitive for the casual player/bad player that does not sit on you tube trying to exploit things! (I never even did a single chest run and I actually use my mf gear as part of my build hence the 45k DPS. I just feel like the legit player is going to suffer by this one thing and force me to do nefarious things just to play the game. Unless they make gold avail in the rmah at a very reasonable price like $1 for 1 million. I have read somewhere that the increase in repair costs are 10x-20x if that is accurate i may run out of all my gold after a single attempt at farming! (120k-400k) cost.
Or I will need to spend more money on gear that has the affix for indestructible items. Already spent $250 just to get where I am. In my mind already way too much but I did/do enjoy the game so it was necessary for me to play.
Please comment if any of my thoughts around this topic is off base... Just starting to feel too much like pay to play for the real casual fun loving diablo fan.
they are doing this to every class (maybe not in this patch but certainly in the next), they are nerfing all the good skills instead of buffing crap skills
seriously, blizzard is sucking the fun out of D3, cant imagine what they'll do to my barb
Wow ... you do realize the only reason you think the other skills are not good cause you are comparing them to the OP NT skill? Take NT away completely and then a majority of other skills start to look good that were previously thought terrible.
Besides ... as I have said before, it's a bug fix ... don't think it was meant to hit multiple targets in the first place ... lightning rune seems more like the multi-hit ability.

It's 4 to 6 times and if you can't farm money as a casual your plain terrible. You can make AT LEAST 100K per hour with no deaths in hell mode stacking 0 mf/gf (using pre inferno gear not even level 60). If you've put in that many hours on one char I don't think your casual.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.

wow, it took 6 pages to finally find the right answer. while it certainly is a nerf, this wasn't the skill balance patch. the skill wasn't performing as intended, so they fixed it. once they've got all the skills working correctly, they can actually get down to balancing them.
As there are certainly a few people complaining, I thought I'd give a shot at a few objections (this isn't going to a be a thorough response)
1)DH's were fine and balanced!!! - I hope you are joking. I'm sure its obvious to most if not all that everyone and their mom rolled a DH in the past few weeks....Why? Because they were grossly godlike compared to the other classes.
Why were they overpowered you say? Having a skill that quantitatively outmatches every other skill in the game by a wide margin ( this margin is at the very least double because of the minimum hit bonus) against other classes will undoubted give major advantages.
Why would reroll just because of that?? Because people want to have the 'most fun' possible while playing a game, and playing the godlike overpowered superman class will certainly be considered fun for many. (Not fun for myself but for many it will be)
2) NT is worthless now (comparatively)?? - 10 Hatred for A shot that does 310% and is penetrating is vastly unbalanced compared to all the other skills DH's posses. Just take a look for yourself.
Now rather than try to number crunch, I am going to take the although at the current moment most likely untrusted approach, and give foresight trust to Blizzard that although the numbers (will NOT) be 100% perfectly crunched in a way that each skill your wizard or WD friend uses is going to be exactly relatively on balance with your own, it will be close. Worthless is a term which gives mention to I would suggest nothing in this game. You wouldn't call anything "worthless", not even a grey item. This seems like a invalid claim you say? Grey items give value to blue items, which then give value to (lol we HOPE this patch) legendary items. Thus without grey items, there would be less items to differentiate between, and less items overall, and therein fewer diversity within the game.
3) Theres nothing else to use!!! -- Really? Seems to me like there a ton of other abilities to use....(OHH my fault you were talking about GOOD abilities??) Sorry I forget the part where they wanted to give a specific class skills which were unbalanced with the others thereby removing your choice for the others, thus in effect eliminating any point in actually making other skills..Go play the game, and HAVE FUN trying out new abilities. Thats right, I said it, "Have fun trying" out new things. Part of life is realizing that its the journey not the destination.(I apologize for my philosophy lol). Diablo is a game where you slay monsters, over, and over, and OVER, and OVER. You might say that the purpose isn't slaying monsters but to make real $, but other than having fun with your friends or feeling the accomplishment of slaying "Bosses" on harder difficulties, there isn't much else.
But perhaps you are still feeling weary about the change, combined with the IAS Nerf?
Remember fun is a relative term and idea. What I find fun you might not. So why argue about it? It's like the difference that I enjoy drinking water all day instead of soda or green tea. That's not wrong..
Instead think of the two changes as advance in the game in the direction of balance. Balance is what makes things fair. Fairness is what standardizes things, and therefore allows you to differentiate yourself from other people.

I guess you are correct I forgot about doing act 1 inferno that nets me about 400k I just hate doing it honestly I totally forgot about that run. And truly since the June 9th patch act 3 gold drops are not even close to what they where average of 50-250 gold with no gold find. And I do not think I am godly but not terrible my first toon hit inferno week one got stuck with belial doing solo play only. I think my biggest problem is I have run almost 99% solo and the table seems lower that way. The times I did run group most people where trying to exploit game mechanics and sticky terrain which is why I stay away from public gaming honestly I prefer a single player mode anyway since real life requires we to pause etc. I do think I am casual in respect to not exploiting things however I do understand your point like I said I enjoy this game much to the chagrin of my wife. Anyway thanks for the reminder and the information of 4x that is not terrible at all. May just require me to include a gold run when I get low. I have had my head wrapped around gearing for act IV that I honestly forgo that you can always run for gold also. .... Sucks getting old...
i play a dh, and this nerf was long overdo. it just did way too much freaking damage, it made using any other skill seem stupid. you are delusional if you think it hitting multiple times was intended.
It is times like these that I'm happy I didn't rely too much on NT. Just use Frost Arrows guys. Sure it does less damage to big fat targets but you gain an arrow with a snare that hits nearby enemies rather than just the ones in line.

StarCraft Legacy - Content Staff Hey guys I want you all to know that my team is playing/did great this weekend so I am going to go ahead and make it my status because I know you all care and want to know my opinion on it.
-sports fan/douchebag
But ball lightning multihits for 2x but only doesn't like 70% per hit. Don't trust tooltips.
Yup, Ball of lightning does roughly half the 155% weapon dmg per tick. That tooptip is very misleading. Also note that it's lightning dmg and elites with "Electrified" affix got huge amount of lightning res.
1.03 removes the additional resistances of monsters with electrifed, plagued and arcane affixes.
Would you guys think Ball Lightning will be the go-to now? I know it does less damage overall, but its range+hitting targets multiple times might be worth it? I feel like Frozen Arrow won't be as efficient due to it not piercing.
My problem with this is, my friends wizards and WDs were doing just as much damage as I was with NT... so wheres there nerfs? Why do we have our dmg more than halved when it was on par with others
This is not true. like now they might be doing more damage but before it was sick how fast dh's could kill a boss compared to ur average wizard. And I am saying this cause I started out with wizard got bored on belial/act3 start and rerolled dh and when I got to belial I basicly killed him in under half the time my wizard took to get him down to 5%
I honestly don't know what all the complaining is about. I completed Inferno using Hungering Arrow and Spike Trap. Spike Trap with the simultaneous rune can give you a nice damage range especially if you can kite stuff in a small enclosure and make all 3 hit at the same time. With my build and damage its not uncommon to see 450k+ to 600k+ crits (total from all 3 traps) and they hit everything in a radius of 8 yards. I don't even use Sharpshooter cause I have a base critical chance of 49% and I still have 86k dps. Ive gone back and tried nether tents on bosses it was extemely OP I was killing Inferno Azmodon in under 2 minutes. Personally it needed a nerf, maybe not to the extent that it has but it was due for one eventually. So there are plenty of other ways to play and be an effective killing machine. Maybe its time for a lot of the DHs to step outside the box and try to be creative in their builds instead of relying on a OP cookie cutter build showcased by Athene and some other DHs. Perhaps ill make a video showing you the effectiveness of spike trap and hungering arrow, o have absolutely no problem killing anything at all. Even Seigebreaker took less than 2 minutes to kill. Dunno about now though with his reflect damage affix. Might have to adapt to that.
But honestly stop complaining and try something new instead of waiting for someone tocome up with some new OP cookie cutter build.
Would you guys think Ball Lightning will be the go-to now? I know it does less damage overall, but its range+hitting targets multiple times might be worth it? I feel like Frozen Arrow won't be as efficient due to it not piercing.
Ball Lightning doesn't hit the same target multiple times. Doesn't even do 155% like tooltip suggests.
