I'm trying to figure out how you "cleared" inferno with that gear. No offense, but its absolute junk (atleast compared to mine). It just goes to show how broken the game is when all u gotta do is stack attack speed, crit, and int/vit and u "clear" inferno. There's no chance you survive mortars with that gear. Prolly 1 shot in act 2.
I'm not trying to be a troll, but when I find this on the front page of diablofans, then I check your gear and its about a third as good as mine (im farming act 1 and 2 because i dont skip anything nor will i progress if i have to kite for 10 minutes just to kill one pack - thats called undergeared), it really bothers me.
Again, really not trolling, just stating my opinion has a 200+ hour WD that hasn't skipped or abused a single thing.
Edit: I have not stepped past the stinging winds in Act 2 inferno, because if you listened to blizzard, theres a proper way to play this game. I feel bad for people that are playing it glass cannon style, cuz you are really missing out. I've put in over 200 hours and I'm still have lots of game ahead of me (like blizz wanted). I also have lots of gear upgrads ahead of me (that dont consist of blue amulets just cuz they have int/AS - WHAT A JOKE!).
31,000 HP
22,000 DPS (not including +7% dmg to elites and +7% poison dart dmg)
600 Resist All
100% MF (base, on top of all this stuff, not swapping or with NV)
I also have life steal on my weapon because no one in this game uses it but its amazingly good. LOH = Single target dps counter heals. Life steal = AOE dps counter heals. Use them both, and use them properly. They work wonders.
And to anyone who says my dps is SO LOW OMG LOL, sorry i dont use blue weapons. I also dont die, ever.
And to anyone who says my dps is SO LOW OMG LOL, sorry i dont use blue weapons. I also dont die, ever.
Just to set things straight - get your head out of your ass and face the reality. Everyone dies in inferno..
The glass cannon may not be the only viable build for inferno, but it sure as hell works.. i know becuase i am also currently playing a similar build. I dont see your gear as twice or thrice as good as the OPs, i have had much better stats than yours and still managed to get 1 hit by act 3 mobs, let alone elites. Trust me, that 600 resist aint gonna get you anywhere..
My Act 2 build was something like this..
Hp ~35k
DPS ~35k
Resist ~650
MF ~200 (without valor)
The moment i hit act 3 with this, its absolutly worthless.. approx 1 death every 15 secs. I tried everything from bears to bats, but nothing works. Then i sat down and did the math, the only viable 'stand and fight' build for a WD would cost anywhere between 300 - 500 million gold worth of gear.
Not to discourage any WDs who dislike the kite build, but trust me when i say this, there is NO other viable build for act 3 as of today. Not unless you have enough gold to throw around on extremely fancy gear.
My current stats are -
HP - 7k
DPS - 81k
Resist ~ 100 (not sure, but a very small number)
Crit Hit - 37%
Crit Dmg - 215%
Just 1 rule of play, dont get hit.. It cost me ~30 mill to gear up and act 3 is still a little shaky but very very doable.
Just to set things straight - get your head out of your ass and face the reality. Everyone dies in inferno..
I haven't. If i would die @ inferno i wouldn't be playing my WD anymore (HC character).
And I pity guys like you. Dying 20 times per round and saying you are "doing" A3 or A2. This is not doing, this is spawn zerging. Same with changing skills before bosses, whoa. Wait. Nephalem stacks? Ah...right, you don't have any because u abuse public games bug, that allows you to jump thru quests and acts. This is not "inferno solo guide", this is "how to kill Diablo on infernal without beeing even close to do A2+ with 5 stacks under 2 hours guide".
Truely amazing build. You just went for most dps + CC. God. Awesome. I'm gonna try it on HC... oh wait.
And this gear you recommend? Mate, guides are for new people, those who actualy starts playing WD or are going to play WD. Don't show them this shit, because if they won't know how to jump thru acts to solo bosses only, they will be stuck at A2 inferno and prolly reroll to other class because of frustration. Please, don't call it a guide anymore.
And don't write bulls..it like "you will be oneshoted". God. Farm more A1 or A2 if you can and get IAS,AR,+armor,Vit,int, crit eq. And you will see even mallets won't one hit you with right usage of skills...
^^^ THIS
I don't play hardcore but I definitely play not to die. This glass cannon crap is nonscence, I hope blizz puts some gear checks in to weed out this bull. Massive AOEs from all bosses, packs, and random areas/mobs. Weed out this garbage and force them to play the game normal.
Swapping out Poison Dart out fro Jumping Spiders gives you the same Single Target DPS and much better AE damage. And the ability to short around Corners as they leep up to 25 yards. I find it much more effective than Poison Dart in more situations and I dont actually have to get in direct LoS of the target. They also jump off the side of the screen to attack things.
20% Damage per spider ie x 4, and they each hit 2-3 times. 80%*2.5 = 180%. The invulve minions can be an issue sometimes. But they just suck in general.
To people still complaining about my gear, the videos were made more than 2 weeks ago..when that gear was actually considered decent. The mods put all that stuff up on the front page just recently. It's nothing close to the gear I have now. And don't think those 200+ hours on my WD were all spent towards progressing. I farm a lot and play with friends too...
FYI this is not a hardcore playthrough guide. This is not a WD tank guide where you can take hits repeatedly without dying. This is just the basic minimum skills and gear I used to beat the game on inferno...2 weeks ago. There are a multitude of different play styles now that the game had been out for more than a month.
The gear I used can hardly be called a glass cannon anymore. Nowadays a WD glass cannon is 100k+ dps and can tear through any mobs before they get to you. Ranged attacks coming towards you? move or use spirit walk. You can boast about playing it slow and steady and never dying once with 500+ all res and 40k health, but I'll have finished the act when you're still on your first quest inching down the enemies health.
You didn't "beat" the inferno, stop telling jokes and crap. You just did the bosses, and not even all of them.
2 weeks ago? please, that gear was ok when i was hitting inferno for the first time, like 3rd-4th day of diablo online.
You "finished" the act? No, you abused public games bug to do "some" bosses. You didn't finish anything or achieve anything by this.
I didn't realize you were watching me the whole time. Did you want me to fraps all my 200+ hours and upload them to make sure I didn't skip any champs?
Also the fact that my gear is "ok" perhaps means that the bosses are less gear-dependent and can be done without having to spend millions? That's what people want right?
sure, make one of doing A4 please. With 5 neph all bosses
Why would I do that? Not only would I have to kill act 3 champs to get enough NV so I can have 5 stacks for the first two act 4 bosses, but I would have to switch to the zombie bear build for Rakanoth too. Unless you want me to go spend a few hundred million gold to get some vit and res gear with equal DPS to survive his soul ripper adds and ranged attacks...yay fun.
You keep thinking that my post was a guide on how to clear the game perfectly without dying, it's not. It's not even a guide, I never used that word once in my post. It's a compilation of my inferno kills with strategies on how to kill bosses. Not everybody plays D3 exactly the same way as you do, get used to it. People have different ideas on what it means to beat the game. And I, for one, don't play for other people's enjoyment.
I wonder how you, and the OP says you can do A3-4 without skipping and yet when we demand proof of that words you say "why should i do that?"
Because nobody is dumb enough to fraps for 1-2 hours and upload a huge ass video that shows them going through act 3 and 4 when they know that nobody wants to watch that.
Izual is a special case. He doesn't count as a boss itself as everything else grants achievements. He just isn't worth the 30 minutes of trying to down him. Not that he should be too hard.
What is "skipping" to you? Do you mean skipping quests or champion/elite groups? Because if you mean the latter... Invulnerable minions just isn't really possible as a WD. So are Bulwark demons (even without the fast affix they move at 170% of your movement speed or so).
That leads me to the second point, you should specify "content" do you mean every group? Or explore everything etc. ?
While I approve of skipping the hardest/near impossible packs of elites and champs (mainly invul), beating it means you beat every quest, every part of the quest, and every boss, izual is part of the progression in a quest line, without killing him, you can't finish the quest, you skip it, you skip part of the quest.

So those guys who actualy do that with their barbarians going thru act 3 and frapping 50minutes of their farm are dumb enough? I think they just can manage where you with your imagination can't.

without having several stacksof valor, you have no proof that you cleared through the quest lines, just skipping to the bosses.
Izual is a special case. He doesn't count as a boss itself as everything else grants achievements. He just isn't worth the 30 minutes of trying to down him. Not that he should be too hard.

Mate he is "special case" don't bother. I think they got more "special cases" like quests that don't give achivements...why even bother?
Yeah, every single quest don't give achievements, why bother with most of them? skipper
So you guys want me to fraps the entire game, doing all quests and mobs with 5 stacks and upload it to youtube...some people with never be satisfied. Maybe I'll do it someday, but for now I just don't care enough to please the whiners who demand the game be played exactly how they say.

You say it's not a guide, but you are showing the way you did it so "guide" people through inferno. You are showing an example complete with explanation in hopes of others learning from it to do it themselves, in definition , is a guide. You don't have to say guide to make a guide.
A guide: One who shows the way by leading, directing, or advising. One who serves as a model for others, as in a course of conduct.
If you think posting all this information and explanation isn't any of that, then you must be a fool.

NO ONE is thinking it's a guide on how to beat it without dieing.
and no, you can't make up your own definition for completing a game IF you brag/gloat about it to others. The overwhelming general consensus of beating the game is progressing through the game without skipping any content that is necessary to progress onto the next critical objective until the game has ended, with this game the end being beating diablo. Most would also include that bugs and glitches that are intentionally used to skip necessary tasks/quests or that make a part of the game much easier than intended and/or would be without it, this would mean you didn't beat/complete the game as well.
You can't just make up your own definitions, you don't know what a guide is (which is what you made unintentionally), you don't know what beating the game entails. This is a sad display and should for no reason be shown. Your attitude is a disgrace and disgusting.
So you guys want me to fraps the entire game, doing all quests and mobs with 5 stacks and upload it to youtube...some people with never be satisfied. Maybe I'll do it someday, but for now I just don't care enough to please the whiners who demand the game be played exactly how they say.
you aren't that smart, are you, Just take some screen shots of your quests in each act and the sub quests of each quest in the main menu.

Man, there is so much whining in this thread you'd think it was the Blizzard forums. Props to the OP for putting together some nice videos and tips on how to beat lots of bosses in inferno. I'm sure that will help some people.
Gotta say, as a Barb I'm pretty jealous of people that can spend that little on gear and be able to progress in inferno, but I think its pretty ridiculous to say that "the right way" to play is to build with with lots of survivability. Especially when all the people saying it are still in Act 2. When great defensive gear still gets you 1-2 shot in Act 3, that doesn't sound very viable to me. I hope Blizzard changes it so that having some survivability is useful, but for now the glass cannon style seems to be the way to go for ranged classes.
I don't really get the upset in this thread. Someone killed bosses and had fun doing it, and decided to share. I didn't see anything that said 'this is the only way to play Diablo 3 and if you do anything different you're a loser.' Just because someone kills something or doesn't kill something does not in any way invalidate your . . .err. . .accomplishments. That is why there's anger, right? Because you feel like your own efforts have been in some way tarnished? They haven't. And yeah, this is coming from someone who is taking their sweet ass time with the game. You say they're going too fast in inferno? I haven't even reached hell yet. Just taking my time enjoying the game my way. And yeah, just because he posted his kills doesn't mean I'm going to follow it at all. I have my own thing and I'll adjust as necessary. Just like you guys are and will.
Anyways, a nice post. I enjoyed it. Keep having fun and sharing it with others.
As much as I love people sharing their input on builds I'm sick of seeing Splinter and bear builds. I've been running Direbats recently and it is way more fun then Splinters. With the large IAS nerf I think Splinters will become less popular so might as well look into other builds that perform better with slower attack speed.
The large benefit of Direbats so far that I have seen is it allows you to kill boss packs that are virtually impossible with splinters without zerging down a boss. Most notably immune minions and reflect damage! Also kiting boss packs is much more easier with direbats. The range and width of the bat allows very simple hit and run casting that splinters actually feels clunky doing. Bats also have a slow travel time. This is actually a benefit because while kiting mobs will run into the bat keeping you at a far distance while still doing good damage. Not to mention if you get good at positioning you can be damaging an entire group of bosses at once instead of one at a time.
The build has it's downside no doubt. It's mana intensive and you pretty much are forced into Vision Quest. I don't really consider this a downside though as long as you have space to put in Spirit Vessel the other two perks really are up for debate. The only other issue with the build is damage consistency in co-op games. When HP skyrockets the bats become less useful and you end up standing around waiting a few seconds per bat cast when you get low.
I think Direbats are getting a bad rap. People think you need to be a heavy cooldown build to use the builds and that is totally false. I run a similar build to the OP except I swapped Splinters for Direbats and Pierce the Veil for Vision Quest and it functions great. I love the build for farming solo it really is fun. Depending on my setting (single or co-op) I swap Army for Totem.
