Honestly, I don't find witch doctor to be lacking at all, it kills effectively in all situations. It's a highly mobile class with ridiculous aoe and single target damage.
Mana recuperation needs some examining, mostly so that using IAS gear doesn't require a pile of accessory regen. I say this from selfishness though, I'd like to be able to run more attack speed without hurting my overall effective DPS. But that is more a cosmetic complaint, than needing attack speed to be successful.
My suggestion, if you find your efficacy lacking, pick different talents, perhaps pursue a different course of play better suited to your gear. WD has several completely effective playstyles, routes , gearing setups, etc. Find what you find fun and that you're best at.
Totally 1. Just don't like the fact that every class can stack IAS to the max, which increases their resource generation while a WD has the same regeneration at every level of IAS and thus forces you to pick so much mana regen gear.
Regeneration does not have to be increased in my opinion, but there's some need for modification on the system to make more gear choices viable.
Besides the fact that what you said is technically incorrect but more or so misleading, I think what you were trying to say is that some skills with proc-rates that coincide with resource recovering attributes are generally heavily utilized. The fact is IAS has no effect on discipline (except with a rune that has a chance to recover on critical hits and critical hits scale with attack speed DH) no direct effect on Hatred Regen (DH), but can help with recovery of Arcane Power (through AP on critical hit stacking, which can be costly), Run Like the Wind for a barb (which is really only important if you're using the Wrath of the Berserker style - which really isnt required for a lot of MonsterPower levels depending on your gear) I will say that it definitely helps Monks a lot. Witch doctors can also get insanely high regen rates and the bonus to the mana pool is larger than any class. Try getting a larger pool of arcane power. the Witch Doctor is a great character with a lot of flexibility.
I disagree about the Barbarian. Barbarians don't use attack speed to generate ressources because Into the Fray allow them to almost ignore their ressource system. Without Into the Fray, the Barbarian would need to generate ressources just like the Monk.
I think attackspeed factors into Fury generation from Run Like the WindTornadoes. Higher attackspeeds allow for higher breakpoints and more ticks/tornado.
This is the same boat I'm in... mana isn't really an issue for me anymore because I tweaked my build and my gameplay slightly... so MP10 is easy, my issue is I don't wanna always use bear to kill stuff... I want to use more of the skills I made a WD for... like wall of zombies, or locust swarm.. many skills aren't usable in high MPs unless you have a bunch of time to kill one dude. Hammer of the ancients kills guys... exploding palm kills guys... loaded for bear kills guys... wizzes can stand still not take damage and just drain health... I'm simply requesting a slight increase in most of the WDs skills... WDs need some love blizz!!!
Not saying Wd is bad and all that as he is among my two favourites.............but runes could be better and you shouldn't have to fill half of your skills and passives with mana regen stuff.

For Barbs who use Into the Fray: If you use WotB Thrive on Chaos, IAS helps with sustainability by allowing you to dump fury faster through Whirlwind / HotA -- fury generation itself is largely irrelevant if your crit rate is high. If you do not use ToC, fury is mostly irrelevant period. You can get by in a tornado build with no IAS and a slow weapon-- it just might be annoying keeping WotB up.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.
I see nothing wrong with the WD as it stands. I dont see any issues with mana generation and I actually used a very high AS build till about lvl 99 when I got bored. My AS was around 2.2 if I remeber correctly. I loved the high AS with my plague of toads. I managed my mana regen by clicking my mouse button on and off. The plague would still fall and my mana would regen.
It was easy enough to switch to my Mana Regen build I have now. I just swapped AS for CC. I have zero issues with mana regen currently and I think more mana regen would be OP considering the huge DPS buff skills we have at our disposal.

It's not a question wheter or not you need the IAS to get enough resource generation to do X build. It's a fact that IAS can be used to greatly improve you resource generation.
On topic is crutch.
First, I was just clarifying, which I guess I failed at -- the issue with keeping up WotB is getting *rid* of fury, not generating it. WW Barbs are constantly spamming buffs they already have active just to dump excess fury to keep WotB: ToC going, and the fury globe still stays pegged at max just about all the time in combat. If all of our skills except WotB cost twice as much fury, that would make playing WW builds a lot easier. I guess Barbs generate more fury spamming Bash, for example, with more IAS than with less, but it would be pretty silly to design a build around that. Barbs either use Into the Fray and resource generation is trivial regardless of attack speed, or they don't use it because their build doesn't care much about fury. They don't stack IAS to generate more fury in any barb build I've seen with the possible exception of a "pure" HotA / WotB build, but that's one specific build and the only point of increasing fury there is to feed one rune on one skill, and we're talking a fairly small amount of IAS. That's not to say WD doesn't need some sort of resource buff -- I have no idea if they do or not -- but justifying it by pointing at Barbs generating increased fury through IAS is a fundamental misunderstanding of the way that class currently functions.
Second, I think you mean "clutch."

Which do you agree needs attention?
1) better mana management. 2) increased spell damage. 3) nothing. I'm happy with my WD.

Add an option 4 which is "both 1 and 2".
Then i would choose that option.
