what is the stat priority on this?
or should i go based off what we took for paragons in order as>chc>chd>cdr
this build thus far took me up 20gr without tons of optimizing
Basically the same as what I had in my Skyfall build.
You can use a SoJ or RoRG. The RoRG allows for the belt for more cost reduction which means you can channel better, or you can go the travelers and compass for the 100% damage with is more reliable than the COE. Or you can change the Halo of Arlyse and Ancient Parthan Defenders in the cube for crazy toughness in mobs. I personally like Galvanizing Ward, virtually doubling your toughness, but that leaves you with one less crucial passive. It all depends on what you like and need.
Mine is a speed build where I drop either deathwish or vizier for aether walker which frees up the passive for Galvanizing Ward. Pretty much teleport when ever you like but not spamming. It pays to have the belt then to be able to channel without a problem. Again it all depends on what you like best.
CDR is bad for this build. 1 passive or Aether walker will give you massive amounts of space for CHC CHD and AS. If not AS, Vit to get more shields. You would need CDR on everything to get teleport down to every 5 seconds, which would make you a glass peashooter; squishy and low damage.
CDR doesn't effect Tal 2p or Etched so it's useless.
Not sure if it was in your vid or not, but I'm pretty sure Storm Armor procs the stacking for Tal Rasha. Would it be smart to take out Arcane Torrent? Maybe we could out in Black Hole or something?
Arcane Torrent is needed to refresh the stacks. Channel Ray of Frost, weave in Arcane Torrent, since both spells trigger Death Wish & Mantle of Channeling, not only losing no damage, but triggering additional meteor from Tal Rasha set.
i cant figure out why using ray of frost and torrent is better then just using lightning black hole. can you explain how it benefits, your saying it actually triggers more meteors then if you just channel ray of frost? im just trying to figure out how to go about it do i wait 4 seconds then chanell it for second to trigger more meteors?
Have you tried using either Flame Ward, Comet, and Conduit or Static Discharge, Comet, and Ignite? I was considering trying those two builds out and then going APDs + Arlyse and swapping in Frost Nova/Bone Chilling for the freed up skill slot.
Also curious about using RoRG + Travelers instead of Unity or CoE.
Can't use RoRG to gain 2set bonuses. It requires 2+ setpieces equipped.
Essentially that means that you wanna use arcane torrent and ray of frost in a tal meteor build just for the extra meteor from tals 2 piece bonus but NOT interfere with etched sigil casts.
you can also use frost nova - frozen mist instead of ray of frost if you don't like alternating between 2 channel skills. but then you may be running into arcane power issues to keep the aquila buff up. overall i would recommend using Firebird and not Tal for Meteor. But for the sake of speedruns I can understand using Tal is prefered.
Magic Weapon: Ignite won't proc Tal.
I was desperate in making a Tal Rasha Meteor build viable. Don't get me wrong Tal is kinda viable. But due to the fact that Firebird can fit in the Endless Walk Set it's simply better for pushing your highest GR.
What you can do is go for Focus + Restraint and Karini in cube. It was the Tal Meteor build I had the most success with but in the end Firebird with Endless Walk + CoE is just better.
Just for reference. I was #1 on the PTR leaderboard for weeks, currently #3 on EU season leaderboards. All Solo Wiz with Meteor, so I tested these builds a ton and are just some advices I can give you from my experience
I love this build. Obviously hundreds of other wizards on the seasonal leaderboards do too! This build allowed me to beat a 100 GR solo earlier tonight.
Reading through the posts, you can definatly use the lighting orb in place of arcane torrent.
The benefit is that you can group mobs together. the negative is that you have to reposition on occasion to reach your target with ice lance, since it doesn't shoot over obstacles between you and target like AT does.
Note that even through the orb has a CD > 8 seconds you do not need to cast it every 8 seconds to keep 4 stacks up. The stacks refresh when you cast a DIFFERENT element, so you can literally get 4 stacks up, and never cast orb again, and keep the stacks alive by porting, meteor (manual) and ice lance.
You might loose 5% damage in you run the elemental exposure talent for fore a few seconds between cool downs.
On Storm armor, it does proc the lightning-based meteor, because it is damage, but it does not contribute to stacks because you must cast something to do that. storm armor is there for the damage reduction from the cubed ring.
Also of note, last i checked, PugTheHoly has the best time on GR115 in the Americans. He does run hole over torrent. looking at his build it favors crit hit chance, crit hit damage and Area of Affect. That is more or less your order of importance. If you don't have 90% or higher resources most of the time, put a resource reducer on an item, such as shoulders. You do need +4 arcane on crit on your offhand (etched sigil)
Aether walker is not viable in GR pushing. Once you get to around 100+, at least for me, damage becomes the issue against the tougher elites, and you just can't loose the damage bonus from death wish. The fact is that the damage bonus from the fire bird builds are far higher than the Tal rash bonuses from the get go, so Tal has issues downing heavier elites end game, and you have to dig for every % you can.
If you love mobility, consider unstable over galvanized. I "think" galvanized actually nullifies "X" damage, meaning illusionist won't trigger as often. I run galvanized anyhow though, as i hate rushing into a mess of mobs while my defenses are down and getting whacked. Tauguk stacks drop fast, as well as your temp shields.
You do want galvanized in group play. i find myself porting past the target, grabbing everything I can with AT, and then porting back to the monk when the galvanized wears out and illusionist triggers. Very handy, but you gotta live past the initial mass attack. Large groups are best around a heavy elite, allows AoE damage to stack on the boss.
I have tried this and was not able to get it to work.
As far as i can tell, you have to get rid of teleport or deflection or storm armor because you have to come up with one other element no matter what you do.
Have to have teleport, so the resulting build is very squishy. If you are going to do that might as well run Firebird.
Before i leave the forum i wanted to post one build i tried...trying to make the molten meteor viable, similar to SP where you hit harder in a more focused area. MY goal was to focus higher damage on elites.
I put on the ring that reduces its CD one second per cast, put a gem in my helm to reduce CD, stacked a couple others too.
I could actually cast it pretty regularly, sometimes even less than a second, and had no resource issues.
I was able to clear a 100, but didn't feel it was viable. The loss of convention may have been the culprit.
I currently am pushing 112 in tal rash for a point of reference.
You have to teleport into the fray in order to cause damage with the calamity rune. This will trigger your stack.
Thanks for the nice build... do we know what is the ideal AS that one needs to have for the dual channeling build., so that we dont have the latency in ES proc's
No you dont.
Yo, Bluddsheddy boyo, what about removing some paragons from AS? Seen it somewhere, can you please comment before they shut this down?
